Where do I put a file I want people to access via a web browser like [URL]. Where do I put file.txt once I have websharing on? I've tried both Sites and Public but none work.

The error message above is the one I see in console. I cannot turn on websharing on my osx 10.7 macbook pro. I was able to at one point but my computer froze and upon restart I was not able to access my localhost/~Nbulkz personal webpage. For awhile I was able to turn websharing on and off, but I was not able to access my personal webpage and was given the Error Forbidden 403.
I then turned it off and restarted but now it won't even turn on in the User Interface "Sharing" in system preferences. I see there is a syntax error in the .conf file but I used an Apple Support procedure that had me write that same .conf file so I'm confused about what to try next. I've been using apache 2.2.1, php v. 5.4 and mysql along with php_myadmin. I've already rewrote disk utility permissions.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just had my new Macbook Pro 2.4, Mac OS X 10.5.2 and decided to make a totally fresh install. Installed MySQL and stared PHP etc. Working great. But now I can't get my Apache to work. I have been following all tutorials on the net and looking around. Web sharing and so on and on. MySQL is working fine but and http://localhost/ attempts resumes in. Safari can't open the page "http://localhost/" because it could not connect to the server "localhost". What the xxx am I doing wrong? Also the "/var/log/apache2" is empty.

I have a Mac mini running Leopard server (10 user) and I am getting an error in the system log: "May 3 14:52:25 mini01 org.apache.httpd[941]: SSLCertificateFile: file '/etc/certificates/Default.crt' does not exist or is empty". I do not have web services running, nor is Apache 1.2 running. I was trying to update to Apache 2.2 but it constantly failed so I just shut web services down (using this system for training NOT critical). How do I stop what appears to be Apache 2.2 from launching/looking for a non-existant SSL certificate?

I'm creating symbolic links in /Library/WebServer/Documents & I'm getting permissions errors. This works fine on Snow Leopard, not on Lion. I note that the httpd.conf file entry for /Library/WebServerDocuments sets the following options: Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViewsÂ
So, it should be working, I would think. The links are owned by root/wheel and have lrwxr-xr-x permissions. The directory being linked is owned by <me>/wheel, and has rwxr-xr-x permissions. As an also - I tried to create the personal website folder in the web sharing preferences. It created a 'sites' folder in my '~' folder. I can't navigate into that, either... I've stopped and started the apache2/httpd server several times - no change.Â

It keeps giving me a warning that the security system won't allow anything that is not made by Apple or has its approval or something, but it worked on the 2008 Mac and it worked awesomely! Why can I NOT find anything about it now that I have Yosemite , which is also hard to remember to spell!

View 3 Replies View RelatedWith any Unix machine, one can run at the command line:- apachectl -S This will show all virtual servers configured in Apache, and will break if there are any obvious problems in the httpd .conf files. It's very handy for testing a new configuration before restarting the server. With Mac OS X Server though, this doesn't work properly. Sure, I can run that command and see a virtual server or two, but with the introduction of the server Apache wrappers, the command line tools read a very different configuration than the `serveradmin` tool does.
e.g. Wrappers like:-<IfDefine MACOSXSERVER>
....
</IfDefine>
or <IfDefine WEBSERVICE_ON>
[code]....
ps. Running `sudo serveradmin stop web && sudo serveradmin start web` really compared to `apachectl graceful`; it's painfully slow and doesn't provide a way to test a custom configuration before attempting to restart.

Why does my mac stop downloading files, copying to clipboard, saving files to desktop, etc?
iMac g5 1.9 ghz 17" running 10.5.8. Had a hard drive crash and bought a new one. Loaded new OS leapord. Everything works fine at first, but after the computer has been on for a while, it will stop downlading files, disk verify doesn't work. I can't copy and paste stuff. It seems as if the hard drive is full, but I have only used 32GB of 300GB.
When I restart, it works again, then slowly not. Is it an overheating issue? How do I know if my fan is running? Is it a bad hard drive I put in it? Bought it new with three year waranty.

I have a Lacie external hard disk that was originally formatted for PCs. I have some files there, but more importantly, my iTunes library is saved directly on the Lacie (I have everything on apple lossless, so they are some big files). I will keep using this PC while connected to the Lacie hard disk to syncro my iPod.
The problem is that I bought a mac now and I wanted the Lacie hard disk to be able to transfer files from mac to pc and vice versa. I have already read that I would have to copy the files that are on the Lacie, reformat the Lacie and then paste the files back. My only doubt is that if I do this reformatting, will I have any problems using the iTunes library while connected to my pc and iPod?
I just ask that because every time I changed any iTunes library folder on the computer, the iTunes would say that the music file couldn�t be found and ask me if I wanted to look for the file. I didn�t want to reformat the Lacie to later find out that I would have to �look for� every single music file, because that would be nearly impossible. I don�t know if I was able to make my question really clear�
I have a single processor G5 1.8 running current version of Tiger 10.4.11. I take pictures on my Canon 1D ll and also on a Canon power shot pro 1. When I tried to copy files from my compact flash card to my G5, it corrupted most of the files. When I pull them up, half of the image is distorted or discolored. I am using a cheap non-powered USB 2.0 card reader attached to the high speed USB ports. I have tried all of the ports. My other devices, Keyboard, printer, scanner (all self powered) work fine on the USB ports. I can do the same hookup on my G4 Ibook and it works fine with no problems. I also tried importing directly from the camera into I-photo and had the same problem on the G5.

I cannot believe I am actually in this position, but I accidentally reformatted my lacie 1TB external HD. The files were not overwritten as it was the most basic and quick format option, but they are not accessible.
Can anyone recommend a good data recovery app that works for OS X?

On Rapidshare, I've download a lot of files such as .rar files on my mac and everything has worked fine. Up until today, I downloaded a few and they are windows files because they have the parallels symbol (Yes I have parallels) but my parallels isn't running. So i went back and tried to download old files that I had previously been opened with Mac OSX and they too are opening as parallel files. I dont understand why all the files want me to download the windows version. The only thing that I changed was i finally upgraded my MacPar Deluxe because there was a new version but that's the only thing. So can someone please help me fix this problem. I dont want to download windows files while on my mac.

I recently discovered, after running Disk Inventory X, some really fat files in my Library. I haven't touched them, as I read on another forum that it could be dangerous but is there anything I can do to get rid of them? I thought maybe they were left there after a recent Time Machine backup because I read that happening to someone else in another forum...

I need to merge about 17 excel files. All have the same headers and are data from different individuals on the same topics.How can I merge into 1 master file without cutting and pasting all 17 files into a master. Also would be great to be able to break out new spreadsheets by individual columns. ( i.e. Location, Part Number , ect ). A friend wrote a little program for me that worked when I was using a windows based machine, but will not work in the Mac environment.
