I've setup my server and enrolled a few devices. Everything works fine if I'm in the same LAN but as soon as I tether my laptop to my cell service and try to issue the remote lock nothing happens till the laptop is back on the network and it gets the lock request. I have changed the hostname of the lion server a few times if that broke something. Also the server is behind a NAT so do ports need to be forwarded?

I figured out that using disk utility is the best method to create a password protected and hidden folder, but i can't seem to find clear instructions on how to do this. I'd like to be able to have a folder that's password protected and hidden if possible. I'd also like to be able to add files and delete files from that folder in the future as well.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI got a mid-2011 Macbook Pro (OS X 10.7.3) and I have never set a firmware password for it, and now, out of the blue, when I boot using option I get a grey screen with a lockpad and a password field, I typed every password I can think of and none of the are correct. I have never set a firmware password, I would remember that, maybe it's a new malware?
Tried everything to boot to a different state but it would rather boot normally to OS X or I would get that grey lock. I can boot to DVD by choosing the DVD in the Start Up disk option, but it's useless, since I need the old password to turn off or change the firmware password. It will go to a grey screen with the lock if Option key is pressed during boot, so, that's useless too...no need to say cmd-opt-o-f is useless. Is there any other way?

so, i have gotten everything all set up and up and running but one thing that i have noticed is my network connection disconnecting itself. every time i have closed i the lid it has diconnected itself from the network. i realize that it goes to sleep when that happens and it shouldnt be really doing anything in sleep mode. but im kinda p-o'ed at how when i open it up i need to re enter the networs pass word. is there a way that i can make it so that it automatically connects to the network when its opened/turned on? i checked the box that "saves the password as a keychain" what ever that means too.

I tried to log in with the master password but do not have the password or install disk for OSX. I asked my friend about it and he said the same thing, he lost the user and master password including install disk. I took the comp from his hands anyway, it's in new condition and he never really used it, just forgot about it I suppose. A couple weeks ago, I purchased season 1 of Game of Thrones on the Blu-Ray Digital Combo pack so I could download the TV show onto my iTunes. I was able to download season 1 using the code that came with my DVD and it is on the iTunes on my macbook pro. Today, I purchased season 2 of the show and downloaded it onto the iTunes on my iMAC. My problem: Season 1 of Game of Thrones did not sync so it is not showing up on my iTunes on my iMAC. I use the same email, password, network, AND I have allowed home sharing amongst my apple devices. This has never happened before. How am I able to get my TV shows on both my iMAC and Macbook?

I told her she'd have to input her dad's network password. When she gets there she calls and says he can't remember the password. Then I remember it's saved on my MBP. I look it up (Settings>Network>advanced>[His network]>edit) and I can tell it's 10 characters (10 dots), but the "show password" box is ghosted. Other networks are 9 or 16 or 14 characters. His is a WPA2 network, like most of the others on the list. I'm running OSX 10.6.4. I seem to recall there was a way to show the password of a saved network. My MBP connects automatically so it's on here somewhere.

Other Macs in the house connect to the network with no problem, but the Mac Pro doesn't. I am setting up a new network as I have moved house. In the previous house the wireless worked fine on the Mac Pro.
When I click on the Airport Icon in the menu bar, the search wheel shows and it finds the network, but when I click on the name of the network typically it doesn't connect. Occasionally it does connect, and I briefly have internet access, but then the number of bars on the Airport Icon gradually reduce and then I can't connect again.
When I run Network Diagnostics from Safari, it finds the network also, but then typically asks for a WEP password for the Wireless Network when I haven't added any security to the network (occasionally it doesn't ask for a password and I can connect briefly)
I have tried resetting my Time Capsule and creating a new wireless network with a different name, but still experience the same issues.
I wonder if someone has any ideas as to what might be going on, and how I might be able to troubleshoot this.
