One that no one would be able to get in at all? I've read where someone could use the install disc and set a new password. There's no way at all to make my computer totally safe from someone getting into it?

(like a transparent screen lock app) I think you got the idea, can you recommend me a software that does this?

Is there a way to put a password lock on folders?Â
I need it so when you open the folder you're immediately prompted to enter a password, without even being able to see the folder's contents.
How do I find the pass code to unlock my macbookpro after I locked it using find my Mac app on the iPhone?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI figured out that using disk utility is the best method to create a password protected and hidden folder, but i can't seem to find clear instructions on how to do this. I'd like to be able to have a folder that's password protected and hidden if possible. I'd also like to be able to add files and delete files from that folder in the future as well.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI got a mid-2011 Macbook Pro (OS X 10.7.3) and I have never set a firmware password for it, and now, out of the blue, when I boot using option I get a grey screen with a lockpad and a password field, I typed every password I can think of and none of the are correct. I have never set a firmware password, I would remember that, maybe it's a new malware?
Tried everything to boot to a different state but it would rather boot normally to OS X or I would get that grey lock. I can boot to DVD by choosing the DVD in the Start Up disk option, but it's useless, since I need the old password to turn off or change the firmware password. It will go to a grey screen with the lock if Option key is pressed during boot, so, that's useless too...no need to say cmd-opt-o-f is useless. Is there any other way?

I recently purchased a used imac g4 from a friend but I cannot seem to get it started. I tried to log in with the master password but do not have the password or install disk for OSX. I asked my friend about it and he said the same thing, he lost the user and master password including install disk. I took the comp from his hands anyway, it's in new condition and he never really used it, just forgot about it I suppose. It also seems that on startup the mac searches for disks and servers, so it could of been a part of a network system???????
I would like to know if there is a way to get into the bios and reset the whole system without password prompts and all that. Which is the best way to do this?
I have the mac osx install disk from my ibook but I tried to boot the disk and it's not booting. I also have the install disk for os tiger and that's not booting either. There must be a super secure lock on the system.
I have a belgian azerty keyboard and OS X in english on my white macbook. Is it possible to change the caps lock key's function to shift lock so that it affects the whole keyboard rather than just the letters? I'd like to be able to type numbers without holding shift.

My "Caps Lock" key stopped functioning. Will not respond under the Keyboard Viewer either, though all the other keys do. Light will not come on, so I have to use the Shift key for each letter that I want to type in capital letters. I cannot find any on/off switches for that key under Help, or in System Preferences. Did I hit a key combinations somehow, that deactivated the Caps Lock Key? I have the bluetooth keyboard that came with my i7 IMAC.

My cap lock is reversed. I've seen other had the same problem and I tried to fix it as it was explains:
PRAM reset was of no use. Restart was useless. also reinstalling maverick was useless. what can it be? if I disable the caps lock from the keyboard preferences, the led turns on, meaning that for my mac the lower case is set when the led is on.

My iMac desktop will not stay on one program. In other words, I will open a program such as Safari or Pages, and after it loads, the program acts as though I have clicked on some other screen space. So I have to take my mouse and click on the program to begin typing but the process repeats. I think its about every 15 seconds I have to constantly use the mouse to click on the program so I can continue typing. I haven't downloaded anything recently and I have no idea how to fix this, sort of rebooting the whole system.

I've been trying to empty files in trash, and everytime I do, it brings up a new finder window and says that it's preparing to move to trash, but it's already in trash. When I try to take it out of trash it says that it's copying the file to my desktop.
