View 1 RepliesEverytime I open mail (v.5.2) on my Mac (OSX 10.7.3) I am prompted that the "iCloud has rejected the password for p01-imap.mail.me.com." The incoming mail server is set at p01-imap.mail.me.com....and I can't change it, it's greyed out in Preferences - Account Information. Further, each time I put in the password, I click "remember in my keychain" and, well, it doesn't because I have to re-enter it every day.

When I try to change the settings for my Mail app, in Snow Leopard, the incoming mail settings are greyed out. What do I do to be able to change these?
(I had a problem, with my Mail account, which a consultant fixed for me on my laptop. But I cannot remember what he did to access the incoming mail server preferences, and make the changes, because on my desktop these are still greyed out.)

I am able to send messages however am not able to receive any messages. the circles is constant "checking". i have also tried taking all accounts offline and back online.

This has happened before. All is well, then one day iCloud Mail decides it won't work and the "exclaimation point" error appears next to that account in mail.
Trying to re-enter the account information is futile as the incoming mail server is grayed out, only displaying "mail.example.com" which the user cannot change.
Tried deleting the account and re-adding, but it just adds a new, blank account which cannot be modified. At that point, my iCloud mail account is entirely gone from the computer and apparently can not be recovered.

I am migrating my mail and archive folders from Mail to iCloud. I moved 20+ folders and over 8k messages with no problem by dragging and dropping the folder from 'On my mac' section to 'iCloud' section in Mail. The last two folders were the largest with over 1.5k in each folder. Over 1200 of the messages in each went in to iCloud without a hitch. Then I got this error:
The IMAP command “APPEND” (to [mail box name]) failed with server error: Message contains NUL characters.
There are 149 messages left in one folder and 203 in another folder. Try as I might, it will not work. I tried Rebuild mailbox option in menu and exported to Mail and mbox format and then re-importing. Still does not work.
My Internet Service provider notified me that my mailbox was full so I deleted thousands of messages. Mail continues to arrive in trash. I have an iMac computer, Version 10.6.8. How can I get the mail to come to my incoming mailbox?

My Mail application (Leopard) is sometimes incredibly delayed in downloading mail from the server. If I have Thunderbird open on the side sometimes I receive mail in it but have to wait 15 minutes before Mail gets it. Also, my iPhone gets the mail in time always, though one would think that the mail fetching system is similar to that in Mail. Does anybody else have this problem and know a way around it? It's really frustrating and I'm considering moving to Thunderbird for good.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSince updating to Snow Leopard 10.6.1 Mail.app has been unable to retieve IMAP mail from my OS X Leopard 10.5.x server running the standard cyrusd. Does anybody have any clues? Mail just sits there syncing the mailbox forever, it never stops. If I turn on logging to file, it just continuously FETCHes from IMAP and never ends. It's driving me mad. My iphone can get the IMAP mail from the same server absolutely fine. I added the mail account to a new OS X Snow Leopard user account, and that also failed to get anywhere. So its not corrupted data on my MBP. It doesn't appear to be corrupted data on the OS X server either, as the iPhone works.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway to highlight an already read and saved message in Mac Mail? To clarify, when I open Mail I have a window that shows all my incoming messages, both unread and read. Sometimes after I read a message I want to be able to go back and quickly find it. This could be several days later and in the meantime I have 50 more saved messages and trying to find it is difficult. Is there some way to highlight it in color or flag it so I can easily go back and find it? I am running 10.5.8 although I doubt that has any bearing on anything.

We want a mail alert sound for all my incoming mail. We do not want the default ones that they have.
We downloaded a set of sounds for this.
What is the rule that we need to use to make these sounds work?
It seems everytime I open Mail, I get Incoming Messages (4, 8, 20 or 50 of them). Where are they? I have Mail setup with an IMAP server with my university. I do get real messages too. But what are all these others that I never see?

I use Mac Mail at home and at work. At home everything works fine. At work, in general everything is working, but every time I start up Mail, it says there are over 1500 Incoming Messages and proceeds to "download" them. Of course there aren't these messages. My two email accounts are .Mac IMAP account and a business IMAP account. These 1500 messages don't seem to be put anywhere, and I can't seem to figure out which account these messages are coming from. The problem is downloading all of this makes my computer slow down a bunch (old mac) and it takes a long time. The problem does not affect my home Mac or my iPhone.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've noticed a problem with my mac mail. The number 1 over the mail icon comes up to show I have a new mail, but upon clicking into mail to see it, who it is from and the subject line is there, but it takes 20-30 seconds for the mail to download. This is happening across all email accounts, coming from a mixture of imap and pop accounts. I've also noticed in my activity monitor that my amount of free system memory is very low (dropping to under 50 meg when I have things open). If I install more system memory, do you think this will solve the email problem.

It is grayed out and when I click on 'edit email aliases' in the mail preference account information, it sends me to Mobile Me login. Outgoing server lets me make the changes.

Besides the below mentionned iMac I also still have an iMac 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with OSX 10.5.8 installed.Since a few days my mail application on the 10.5 iMac doesn't receives any incoming mails from my Me.com account and I receive constantly the request to enter my password. This mail application worked entirely well until it started asking for its password.Strangely enough I can access the concerned mail account on the below mentioned iMac, on the concerned iMac via Safari on iCloud.com and also on my iPad I tried in my opinion nearly everything suggested on the forum and the support pages. I even tried restoring the mail application from a time machine back-up prior to the incident. As incoming mail server in the Mail preferences "mail.mac.com" is mentioned. I tried to change this to "imap.mail.me.com" but even after saving the change it still mentions "mail.mac.com". what i should do to have my mail application work again on the 10.5.8 iMac? Could or should I f.i. restore other files than the Mail application from my Time Machine Back-up?

I'm trying to correct a problem with my wife's iCloud email account. I cannot change the 'Incoming Mail Server' name in the 'Account Information panel. If I delete the account and start a new one, I can enter the correct name ... "imap.mail.me.com". However, once I click on create, the Incoming Mail Server name reverts to 'mail.example.com.

Upgraded hosting plans and have to change my mail server address. I can change my SMTP server but Mail won't allow me to change the incoming mail server. It's greyed out. If I try to delete the account, it says the account is shared with other programs and must be removed in Internet Accounts control panel but it's not listed there to be removed or changed.
