Just got my new mac and im having a bit of trouble with itunes. I transfered my music over from my PC and now whenever I add music to itunes on my mac it makes doubles of those any songs I put in.
Last year, my roommates and I got together and bought the snow leopard family pack for us all to upgrade with. We are now getting ready to move out and go to separate parts of the country. We would all like to have a restore disk. My questions is, what is the legality of making a copy of the snow leopard family pack disk for each one of us?
Why does Mac OX 10.6.8 keep making copies of a file anytime I download, copy, or move a file? It will copy, dowload or move the file, then begin making copies until I reboot. This makes it impossible to deal wit hfiles unless I want to spend a lot of time rebooting after every time, then deleting all the redundant copies.
Is there any way to have 2 copies of itunes running at once so that I can have different music playing through my airport express then I have playing through my computer? I'm running Leopard if that makes a difference.
digital copies have an expiration date (most of them anyway) & I really don't have much space on my computer to fit all the movies (I think I'm literally down to 3GB). So am I able to download the digital copy to my Mac, delete it from iTunes & the computer to free up the space & then re-download at a later date as long as I'm using the same iTunes login? Also, would this work if I got a new Mac & tried to re-download to that?
I consolidated my iTunes library because some files were on an external and the rest on the computer and when I did this it made copys of most of the songs in my music folder. Also it didn't consolidate the whole library it still shows many songs on the external.
The actual iTunes library is right, just not all songs point to the computer hard drive.
I have about 100 gigs worth of duplicates that I have no idea how to delete besides doing them one by one. Any ideas on how to fix this?
This is how my iTunes folder looks for most albums.
So i have an ipod classic and quite a few songs on there. But i have a problem that occurs every time i sync, it will recopy and replace the same 109 songs every time i sync. They are not in any certain order, or playlist, they have not been recently added, or modified, or played, or had added artwork. Just every time i sync, even if i sync, unplug, then sync, they will copy all over again.
I've downloaded 3 digital copies so far and none of them are playing properly. Just a black video, no sound no nothing even in quicktime player but you can select chapters in itunes. Length and file size are what they should be. This is especially frustrating to me because I am using snow leopard and i have a new macbook pro 13inch so i don't see why they shouldn't be working. I have Perian installed if that makes a difference but I haven't uninstalled it yet just in case i don't have to.
I'm in the process of converting my DVDs to MPEG for my AppleTV, so I've ripped and converted with handbrake, now I have an MPEG file on my desktop, when I drag that into itunes, it says "copying file" when it is finished, is it safe to delete the MPEG file on my desktop? i. e. does itunes actually create a copy so I have two of the same file? So is it safe to erase the one on my desktop?
I have downloaded several digital copies of movies and would like to be able to move them to another iTunes account. What is the easiest way to do so? I'll actually be copying them so the movies can be synced to two different phones. (we don't have iCloud yet, using older phones)
Info:20" iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8), 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
I am backing up my iPhone to the iCloud, and synching to my iTunes wirelessly. But for some reason it is downloading all of my apps to my iTunes on my computer. I do not want nor need it on my computer. How can I stop that?
Clicked itunes in dock the icon bobs up and down then nothing. the same thing happens with an album design software supplied by a local photo lab both were working perfectly last week. All other software is fine.I have verified and repaired permissions and disks several time and it say every thing is Ok. No goodI reinstalled both bits of software from new copies. No good.Reinstalled Snow Leopard and up dated as required. No good.Used 3rd party software called Permissions/Preference. No good
I am just wondering if there was a specific reason why iTunes did not accept Ultra Violet copies from Paramount? I am talking about movies to be downloaded to iTunes.
I erroneously purchased the same 3 songs by the same band from 2 different albums twice. Is there any way to reverse the charges or get a refund on the double purchase? iTunes didn't ask for verification on purchase after the 1st song.. So I wasn't sure I purchased the songs.
So basically I was using itunes and wanted to Maximise by clicking the top right arrows.. However I double-clicked by mistake and now my toolbar is gone. The options to close, minimise, maximise on the top left are also gone.
I purchased an album on iTunes some time ago, but I keep getting double track entries. Seems like there is a problem with downloaded tracks from iTunes. iTunes is indicating double track entries. Locally stored on my iPhone and and a duplicate track entry asking me to re-download the track from iCloud. I don't get it. I already downloaded the tracks and every time, I need to delete the double entries but they keep coming back and asking me again to re-download the same track again from iCloud.
So I got the much hyped Magic Mouse. I get it set up then I go over to itunes and click a sound and normally I would then follow with a double click to get Itunes to play that song and now I do it and it does nothing. Same with Adium and any files I try to open but on firefox it works perfectly fine. I went over the settings 10 times and still can't figure it out.
I have iTunes 11.2.2, and I've recently made use of iTunes' "disc x of y" feature, instead of entering the disc number in the album title like I used to. I made this change because putting disc numbers in the album-title field makes the two discs appear as two separate albums, with the artwork appearing twice, which I didn't want. The downside of using the "disc x of y" feature, however, is that for double albums where the two discs have unique titles, rather than the default "disc one" and "disc two" -- say, for example, the Red Hot Chili Peppers' album Stadium Arcadium, where the discs are called "Jupiter" and "Mars" -- there is no way to label the disks with their unique titles and still keep them within one album entry. I don't want to put these titles in as a comment or anything like that either. What I'm really wondering is whether it is possible to write a script that would allow me to change where it reads "disc 1" to a unique title, at least within the album section of iTunes.
I searched the forums and couldn't find anything on it. I recently reinstalled Quicktime, now everytime I download an .MP3 file to my desktop or wherever, it has Quicktime as the default MP3 player..... Even when I right click it and do Open With... and select Always Open With (iTunes) it just selects that one file to open with iTunes everytime. I was seeing if there was a way to make iTunes my default MP3 player for all mp3s..... It seems to only be occuring with newly downloaded files. All my older MP3's still open in iTunes.
I've been struggling with this issue for a while. I'll perfect my iTunes library, then for one of a laundry list of reasons, lose the perfection I have attained (Album art, names, etc.)
Is there any way I can make the attributes of my current iTunes library permanent?
Would just 'Consolidate Library' work? Note: must also save album art and such.
Whenever I open ITunes, it gives me a message saying that my library is corrupt, and that it is creating a new library, the new library has nothing on it, so i must then copy all my music and movies back into ITunes. How can I stop ITunes from making more and more (damaged) libraries? I just want my old, "corrupted" one back!
I wish to terminate my gmail account, and only use my @me.com account. So far I've moved everything over to @me.com - even going into [URL] and been successful. Now only 1 thing stops me from a complete move - iTunes. My @me.com is not a mobileme account. I never set a mobileme account up. Only when iCloud was up and running, did I set up an @me.com account. So how do I set my primary Apple ID in iTunes to @me.com?
My iTunes folder is in /Louis/Music/iTunes, but for some reason iTunes keeps creating a separate folder /Macintosh HD/Music and dumping a few songs by a few different artists there. I've tried 'consolidating' the library twice, deleting the songs from iTunes and re-adding them. I have the 'keep iTunes music folder organized' option as well as the 'copy files into iTunes folder' options checked. Nothing works. What is wrong? It makes absolutely no sense why it would create it's own random folder and dump the songs there.
My car SD card slot only recognises MP3 how can I simply convert my entire itunes library to MP3 without having duplications and needing to go through each album 1 by 1 and deleting the MP4etc... versions??
I have tried burning my iTunes purchases onto a CD, and when I try to play them back on my CD player, nothing happens. It will play back in iTunes on the Mac, but not on my CD player or in my car. I suspect it has to do with the speed at which they burn, but I have no idea how to change that?
Since about the 3rd day after I got my macbook pro the computer has been making cracking sounds when I open it. When it first started it just simply made one clicking sound when the hinge is halfway open. Now however, When it is open it makes cracking sounds that don't stop ( open 15 cracking sounds per open). Is this a serious issue that I need to address with my local (and very mean) genius or is this issue not going to continue to get progressively worse. If this does continue to get worse will the hinge crack open? what is this worst that could happen?
It seems that my new MacBook Pro is finally on its way so I am preparing for the switch from XP to OS. I am pretty much set but still have some questions which I couldn?t find an answer for yet. So here we go:1.Partitions I:Do I need different partitions on a Mac as well? On Windows I always had my System Volume which I tried not to touch at all and then had another partition with all my data to be able to reinstall Windows without having to backup all my data. How does that work on a Mac? Do I need to reinstall Mac OS at least once a year as well because it has become terribly slow? Any other reasons why I should have different partitions?2.Partitions II: I am going to keep a copy of XP running on my Mac as well. I?d like to install it via BootCamp and then use it either with BootCamp or with Parallels or VMWare (prolly the former). Do I have to define the Windows partition beforehand? Because I guess the OS will come preinstalled, right?
