I'm running Mac OS X 10.5.2 and iTunes won't start - just gives me the error box "The application iTunes quit unexpectedly, MacOSX and other applications are not affected"
I've deleted the newest version of iTunes completely and tried installing an older version.
I've repaired disk permissions
I have enough space

I installed iTunes 9 yesterday and since then the applications just randomly (Preview, Word, Pages, Textedit, Opera...) won't start anymore when I wan't to open some file (like Word file). I can only use Safari and iTunes. The only way I can make them work again is rebooting macbook. I can play with apps after that for 3 hours or so and then they won't open again. The icons just jump in the dock.
I have also another problem: when I adjust sound or brightness then the bars in the icon move very slowly, not smoothly. This also occurs when I hold a backspace button down to delete text. I noticed this 2 weeks ago.

Is there a way to delete all the artwork from iTunes and start over again? I keep getting the wrong album artwork for many of my songs. Even if I delete it individually, it comes back. I was thinking, if I delete it all, turn off iCloud and syncing, download all new artwork, then reload iCloud, I might finally be able to have the correct artwork.
It seems one piece of artwork shows up on almost half my songs. It's really annoying. With 1000's of songs, it would take forever to do each individually (and even if I did, I think that one piece of artwork would show up when I synced with iCloud.

I am a new iTunes user. I don't want to use iTunes as my default CD ripper or player. In fact, I don't want iTunes to ever start up unless I click on its icon. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a way of shutting off the auto-start after inserting a audio CD. The 'When you insert a CD:' drop-down menu only has a few options and 'take no action' is not among them. So, is there any way I can shut off auto-start for iTunes after inserting a CD? I'm currently running windows Vista 64bit.

I was playing music on iTunes and one of the songs I was listening to just skipped through - iTunes started skipping, 30 seconds or so at a time, through to the next song. It started to happen around halfway through the song, although exactly where is unclear. Repeatedly pushing the cursor back to where the song was before the skipping starts seems to help, in that the songs only starts skipping again a bit later. The one thing that's changed recently is that I turned on Genius.
In fact, when I turned Genius off, the issue seemed to be fixed, until it happened again. I managed to make it through most of the song, though, but the next few songs all started skipping through right from the beginning. It's now happening with every single song I try playing. I hope Genius didn't actually damage the MP3s; I have no idea what it does. All I know is that my iTunes is officially unusable. Quitting the program and restarting did nothing.

Most of my attempted fixes use only my MacBook, OS X 10.7.3 (current Lion), iTunes is 10.5.3(3) 64-bit (current version). Phone is AT&T 4S, 16 GB v. 5.0.1 (9A406, current version).I have used iCloud match on this phone, but now have it shut off. When I use iTunes to view the music on the iPhone, I see 1864 songs. iTunes sees this as 1864 items, 5 days, zero bytes). All are streams. All are greyed out. I can't delete them. I can't overwrite them becuase I can't sync.
This problem is on every computer I have tried. 4 different computers, all running either Lion, Snow Leopard, Windows 746x or Windows 8. I have tried the following: Reset all settings on iPhone, then restored from iCloudRemove all applications and settings, then restored phone from iCloudremoved iTunes, reinstalled (windows only)Turned off iTunes match on Mac, Windows and iPhoneRemoved all device support for iPhone, then re-installed itRestarted iPhone, Mac and PCReinstalled Windows from scratchTried a Mac that had never synced this phone before.Tried new installation of OSX (install Snow Leopard, upgrade to Lion)Tried DIAGNOSTICS on Windows iTunes (all passed, including Device Connectivity, then it reported 'sync failed to start')Tried one post that insisted my iCloud settings on my Mac and in the iPhone control panel needed to match, so I tried that too.

I just rent a movie via iTunes. It said the movie was ready to be played although it is still downloading so I wanted to start playing. My Problem is, that the movie does not start. It is stuck on a black screen. If I move the slider on bottom I can see pictures of parts of the movie that have already been loaded. But I cannot start playing them as a film.
Same thing with Trailers in the Store. iTunes was updated yesterday and also Quicktime is up to date and I also tried the repair function of it. Running Win 7 Professional, 64 bit. Because the rental period now expires in 48 hours (because I clicked on "play movie"). As a "workaround" I tried to play the Movie on my MacBook Pro but it says the rented film is now been authorised to my PC.

Ive recently had to re-install Tiger after being told that there was an error in the startup volume. I am far from computer savy so I just basically follow instructions Sadly, after doing so Ive been experiencing problems with my iPod nano & iTunes. I can sync but the songs put onto my iPod look gray instead of black. And, when I disconnect my iPod says there arent any songs on it. When I look at Music in Finder I noticed that I get a few items listed more than once. I was wondering if this could be the reason for my iPod issues. This is what Im looking at: (all the ones that are bold & underlined have the folder icon next to them)

I suspect a software extension and to test this I tried going into my Administrator Account to see if the problem still occurred. However I find that iTunes refuses to open in my Admin Account. I get an error message instead saying "The folder "iTunes" is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder." iTunes is in my Applcations folder on mi iMac's hard drive that as far as I know isn't locked.
I have examined the Permissions. Only the last one (Everyone) was Read only. The other two were both Read/write. Changng the last to Read/write also makes no difference. I have run Disk Utility to repair permissions. No change, still this error message and iTunes refusing to open.
I don't know if this is connected to the crash I get in my User Account. Both the iPod Nano and Color appear on the desktop and both make iTunes boot as soon as they are plugged in. With both machines iTunes crashes imediately and generates a report to Apple. Both machines display "Do not disconnect" until I eject them via the desktop. I have done a hard reset of the Nano several times to no avail. I've not done this with the Color yet. The iPod Touch has been behaving itself. However I have just plugged it in and it now neither appears on the iMac desktop nor does it fire up iTunes anymore.

I keep getting a pop up saying my start up disk is almost full, or that my iTunes library couldn't be saved, but I've still got a quarter of hard drive available on my new iMac. OmniDiskSweeper shows that most of the memory goes to my iTunes Media and Pictures/videos, but that shows just 61GB of hard drive used for Users. What could be using my hard drive space that doesn't show in OmniDiskSweeper?

Trying to sync my master MP3 collection (on a G4 running OSX 10.4.9) with iTunes on my new laptop (running Vista with iTunes 7.6.2.9 on an NTFS formatted HDD).
Copied the music files onto an external HDD, no problems. File names and folder structure preserved as expected.
However, when importing the music files into iTunes on the laptop, every file name longer than 35 characters is truncated to 35 characters. For instance, Rihanna - Umbrella (Jody den Broeder Destruction radio edit) becomes, in the file name, 08 Umbrella (Jody den Broeder Destru.mp3.
iTunes has only started doing this this morning. Exactly the same installation yesterday gave me no problems at all.

Ok, my once a week auto Mac auto update just finished and now my itunes 10.6 will start then crash as soon as it opens. Error report as follows
Process: iTunes [746]
Path: /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes
Identifier: com.apple.iTunes
[Code]....
If you want the rest of the multi page thread I will paste it.
I have tried restarting the machine and no dice. I thought of reinstalling itunes from apples site but each time I go there its says congrats on downloading it but will not download a single thing. On the problems downloading its only gives me answers to PC problems.
Do I really have to completely reinstall from my iMac install discs just to get itunes back ? I dont use time machine as I have a 1T hardrive in my imac and use most of it for itunes, even I cant afford a 1T stand alone hard drive just for backups.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), Just did the weekly auto update.
