OS X Mavericks :: Can't Setup Mail Account On IMac
Sep 6, 2014
Can't setup MAIL account on iMac no IMAP server. Says I have wrong SMTP server. I"m using a iMac version 10.9.4. MavericksHere is an example for you. I'm trying to set up Time Warner Cable mail account. I have Gmail, iCLoud and Yahoo mail.
Im trying to set up my apple mail with my yahoo account. I'm encountering problems conjuring yahoo mail w macfreepops. I downloaded and installed macfree pops... I put the incoming mail server 127.0.0.1 as directed and changed the port in the advance tab to 2000 as well. I've read all the bits on their website and read some blogs but still not working.
I have configured my iPhone and iPad to connect to an Exchange Webmail Server and it works properly, including sync of email, calendar and contacts.
Settings include: - email address - server name (webmail.xxxx.com) - domain - user name and password for authentication - SSL on - S/Mime off
Now I have tried to do the same on my new iMac/Lion, using Mail. While all my email accounts (gmail, POP3, etc.) work well, I am unable to configure my Exchange account. In particular, I have used exactly the same settings as for iPhone/iPad (all but the domain name that is not in the configuration wizard and I have used domainusername as username), but it does not work. A first pop-up says that the system cannot get the certification of the server. Then when I click on "Continue" it says that it cannot connect because the password/username are not correct (however I have used the same settings that work on iPhone/iPad).
I can't open Mail. When i try the whole "Welcome to Mail - you'll be guided through the necessary steps to set up your mail account" message comes up. It's been working perfectly fine, so I just don't get it.
I've used disk utilities to repair permissions etc and have re-booted...I've even closed it down and un-plugged it and then booted up again, but to no avail. I'm running OS 10.4.11.
The only thing I can think of that would cause something like this is that the computer wouldn't wake from it's sleep mode when I tried to turn it on earlier, so I pressed the off switch at the back to shut it down and to open it again.
I have several email accounts with different SMTP settings. So I may want to use the account from time to time but I don't need to be checking mail and downloading all the accounts. How can I set up a mail group to check mail from several accounts - but exclude one of the accounts (its duplicated you see). I am using outlook 2010.

Outlook Mail. I just recently set up two new email acounts to my mail. They worked perfectly for two days then yesterday, at random my outgoing mail stopped working (incoming still works). Â
Both of these accounts are"Exchange" accounts. As of now when I look in my availabe "Outoing Servers" it doesn't show that I have any. How to configure it to my exchange accounts.
I have a mac book with my itunes account on it and the machine is also sync with my iphone. I need to return my laptop to my friend and have bounght a new Imac. Can I set up my existing itunes account with my new imac? I'm not too worried about transferring the files I can reload those later but I wanted to avoid setting up another account as it's already sync with my iphone. is that possible? or do I set up a new account on my Imac and then how do I put this on my phone?Â
I have an Apple iMac running OS 10.9.3, with a 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 processor and 20GB of memory. My problem involved the compromising of my mail system after I foolishly clicked on a link in an e.mail which seems to have effectively given permission for the contents of my address book to be used to spread spam. I am currently receiving e.mails purporting to be from people in my address book, the subject of the mail is stated as 'Delivery Status Notification (Failure)'. It seems that the spam is trying to send mail to loads of people (because it was given permission...!) and the message are being bounced back. How can I remove (reverse) this permission and stop the spam in it's tracks.?Â
The auto settings for a mail account under Mavericks are not allowing receipt of emails on my Mac Mini. What is the procedure to manually input incoming mail settings?
I am running OSX Mavericks and using Mac Mail. I have several email accounts set up including 2 different gmail accounts. My preferences are set up so that new messages are supposed to send from my primary gmail account. However, over the past couple of days, when I reply to a previous message or create a new message the message appears to be sending from my primary gmail account. That's the address that shows up in the box showing from which account the message is being created. The message uses the signature that is set up for my primary gmail account, and the message appears in the primary gmail account's Sent mail folder. However, when I look at the actual message that was sent (I tested this by sending it to another non-gmail account of mine), the From email address showing up is my secondary gmail account. So, replies are coming back to that secondary account, not the account from which I sent it.Â
I do not have this problem when sending messages from my iPhone or iPad, so I'm pretty sure it's strictly a Mac Mail problem.Â
I've checked the Preferences to ensure that my Composing settings have it set up to send from my primary gmail account, and it is set up that way. When composing the message, everything indicates that it will be sent from the primary gmail account, but instead it goes out as if coming from my secondary gmail account.Â
This is definitely a new problem. I've not updated anything on the Mac OS recently. The only updates that have been applied recently are a Flash Player update and an MS Office update. This problem started before either of those were applied, I believe. I know for sure it happened before the Office update.Â
My Mail client stopped connecting to iCloud all of a sudden this morning. It has been set up a while ago and always worked fine. Now it shows the broken connection icon, and when I click on it it asks for my iCloud password.I enter the correct password and click OK, and nothing happens. The broken connection icon remain and I do not receive new e-mail and cannot send emails.Â
I am certain this is the right password as I can log into iCloud webmail, and my iphone and ipad remained connected. Is there something wrong with the iCloud server, or is there something I can do?

I've always used Mail in Mac OS X but one day I decided I would try Outlook 2011 so I could manage rules and filters without having to go to OWA. I was not very happy with Outlook 2011 so I removed it and decided to go back to Mail for Mac OS X. Since trying Outlook 2011, I'm having problems setting up the Exchange account in Mail.My company uses first.last company.com and flast company.com for our email address/alias.When I setup the account, auto discovery finds everything just fine and logs me in and downloads all the mail, rules, filters, etc. stored on the server. The problem is in Internet Accounts in System Preferences, I now see two Exchange accounts. One for first.last and another for flast. since mail seemed to be working fine, but one day I noticed something when I did a reply all to a mail message. It included myself in the reply to fields. I thought maybe it was a setting in Mail that I overlooked when setting up the Exchange account. As it turns out though, the problem is that the first.last account is now somehow the default mail account on Exchange and the flast is what I'm replying with.Checking System Preferences, I noticed that the first.last Exchange account doesn't have checks in the selection boxes for Mail, Contacts or Notes, but it does for Calendars and Reminders. However the flast is exactly the opposite; it has checks in the selection boxes for Mail, Contacts and Notes, but not Calendars or Reminders.
When I try to enable Mail, Contacts or Notes in the first.last Exchange account I get an error dialog stating "There was a problem setting up the account. An unknown error occurred."I experience this on multiple computers, including an iMac 27", iMac 24" and MacBook Pro 17".I'm using Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 and iCloud for my home accounts and connecting to an Exchange 2010 work account.

For the second time in less than a month, all my older than 1 week emails disappeared from the inbox. The ones from Sent or from my "On My Mac" folders are still there, but the Inbox has only 20 or so emails. I have an IMAP account that worked great so far.Â
i use both an apple mail email and an IMAP email for my business. Â
I have had a recurring problem with filing mail:I am trying to file all email messages onto my iCloud folders on my mail. Â
1. When i file mail into a folder into won't stay in the folder. It comes back into my inbox.
Furthermore, if it does file messages (which is sporadic) then the messages will go into the folder but someones a copy will also reappear back in my inbox)Â
2. When i delete emails: the appear back in my inbox even though i have deleted them.Â
I do not receive an error message when this happens, the emails just pop back up & into my mailboxÂ
How I can do a work around to get message to stay in the folder i want them? Due to this issue my inbox has over 4000 emails in the inbox and i really need to file documents away.
I am operating on OS X 10.9.3 (13D65) and all my updates are up to date!
I am trying to manually setup my email accounts using mail app on my imac. Mail wont find my exchange account automatically and I want to add them manually. How do I deselect 'Automatically set up mail'? I do not see this option when I click "add account'?
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3), I'm using OS Lion 10.7.3
My home folder is corrupted. I created a new user account and it seems to be fine. I'd like to transfer all my data files to my new account. This is no problem with most applications, but I'm not sure what to do with Apps that save the data themselves.Â

I have more than one email account set up on Mail and the strangest thing happens and I can't find out how to stop it.
Here is the problem:
- I have 2 accounts, 'Account A' is for my partner & 'Account B' is for me. - Someone sends an email to 'Account A' (my partner) and CCs 'Account B' (me) into the same eMail. - If I click reply from 'Account B' it sends the eMail from 'Account A' which is my partner, when it should be from me.
I have worked out that this is because 'Account A' was originally sent the eMail in The 'To' field as opposed to the 'CC' field in composing the reply eMail. I know that I can manually change the 'From' field every time when replying to an eMail but it becomes an nuisance. I forget to do it when quickly replying as I consider Mail to reply from the account that I'm reading the email from.
I have gone to the compose section in the preferences and there is an option for changing this when composing a new email but nothing when replying.
Just used migration assistant to switch from an older iMac to a new iMac and now I have two admin accounts under Users & Groups. My name is slightly different on the two admin accounts. When I switch to the other admin account it appears the files are from ~2010. This admin account is greyed out, so I cannot seem to remove it. Is it taking up space? Will it create a problem?

I am getting the error message "You can’t sign in at this time." when I try to log into my iCloud account. Repeatedly. Even changed the password to ensure it was correct.
Notes is not syncing to my iCloud account, but to an old MobileMe account which I cannot remove. The MobileMe account does not show up anywhere else except in Notes. In Settings I confirmed my iCloud account is logged in. I feel like this is more of a bug than anything else. Can I reset Notes or reinstall Notes? The computer is an older Mac Pro and has gone through many software updates...
I had to replace my hard drive on my G5. I am running OS X 10.4.11. I am now receiving mail but can't send it. I am using the proper outgoing mail info. When I tried to send an email I got the message it couldn't be sent using the POP info. Below that is a message that says to send the message using smtp.mac.com.myname. Incidentally do I have to have the .mac account in Mail?
Next week I will be working 3 days in the office and 2 from my home in Leeds.  I have 2 iMacs - one for each location. I was wondering whether there's a way of setting up iCloud with my work email address in order to sync my emails on both machines? I have to refer to my emails quite a lot in my job and it will be rather frustrating to have some one one machine and the rest on the other. Oue email server is POP only. I use Apple Mail on both machines.Â
I am considering having a roommate move in and letting them use my Mac. If I create them a guest account can I ensure that my e-mail and files will be secure by having this second account, or is there another way to accomplish this?
