View 4 RepliesRight now I am able to view my Wiki data only through [URL] when I try [URL] I get a 404 Not Found. One thing that I think is interesting is that [URL] and [URL] both give me the "Welcome to Lion Server" page. I enabled the Wiki service and the Web service both through the Server application. My first thought was that I needed to configure a "Web Site" under the Web service to point to the proper directory location (such as in Snow Leopard Server). I've tried several different directories for the "Store Site Files In" field, such as "/Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites/Default" and "/usr/share/collabd/coreclient/public" to no avail. The Lion Server documentation shows how to migrate wikis, but I didn't see anything about configuring the service (either in the Wiki service or the Web service).Â

I have tried to do this via "get info" on the containing folder, via the server tools and via disk utility, but I have still not managed to correct the problem.

How can I setup the Lion Server Wiki/WebMail/and other built in webpages to run over SSL. Not sure if Apache would support SSL Hostheaders like IIS does though but if not I have a few
I have a valid externally trusted cert, changed the host name to the external name etc. The router is forwarding fine but for my life I cannot find the UI piece where I can tell all the web pages to accept SSL requests.I created a Website in the Web Pane and pointed it at 443 and that works fine so I know the router talks to the right box
how I need to configure the mailserver. I want to receive my mails from my ISP, gmail, hotmail, etc. on the mail server, where I can get them per IMAP to my Mac/iPhone/PC. Where can I set this up. I can't find/I don't know how to call my mails from e.g my ISP to get it on the mailserver. If it's working, does the mailserver call it from my ISP with POP?

With Lion Server Apple killed the FTP Service & GUI to configure the FTP. In the NET I found plenty of description how to enable to ftp, but I found nothing how to configure the sharepoint and ftpusers with the command line. Is their any instructions around. We need to use ftp for some industrial machines we do not offer SFTP. We tried also the Rumpus FTP Server but this isn't stable enough.

I have a brand new Mac OS X Lion server. How do I go about setting up my Lion server to download updates for my other workstations (about 30). These workstations are mixed with Macbook Pros using 10.6 as well as some using 10.7, iMac's using 10.6 and 10.7 and Mac Pros using 10.7. What do I need to do on the client side as well so that they can download from my OS X server. I have created a DNS entry for my OS X server in my DNS as well as a static IP.

My new Xserve started up and I was able to configure it remotely via Server Setup Utility then after I input all of the settings it hung on finishing the setup for about an hour. I then restarted the Server and now I cannot see it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm sure we've all seen the weird IMAP glitch where mail subfolders appear down lower on the mail.app pane instead of nested neatly under the mailbox itself. Usually you can get around this by changing the Inbox IMAP prefix to "" or "INBOX" or "/" or some such path that the server recognizes as the root path to your IMAP folder. Unfortunately, this sometimes means you are unable to work with those folders or introduce other problems.Since I am running Lion (Client) and Lion Server as my mail host, I would think that there is an appropriate answer to this either on the mail.app client settings, or perhaps with a Lion Server configuration through DOVECOT. I don't mind if the solution is a command-line one, but I need to be able to easily set up my mailboxes so that mail subfolders appear properly under each mailbox, instead of being hidden away lower on the page where it is very inconvenient to find, especially when you are using multiple email accounts.

I have an HP EX490 Mediasmart Server that I'm trying to get Remote Access to work with my Airport Extreme (N/Giga version). Unfortunately HP doesn't recommend the Airport Extreme for Remote Access use since it doesn't support UPnP. I followed one guy's steps to manually configure the port forwarding to get Remote Access to work, based upon comments it works for some and doesn't work for others. I've provided screenshots that match his instructions, and I was wondering if anyone has had luck and are there extra steps since I have the latest firmware on my Airport Extreme? I really don't feel like buying another wireless router if possible, but if I need to, any recommendations that has a USB port so I can print wireless with my current printer?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI had a computer accident, and I think it my Macbook may be done for, but I do have my computer backed up through Time Machine on an external hard drive (but not a Time Capsule). When I buy a new Macbook Pro can I plug in my external hardrive and somehow configure my new computer to look like/be automatically organized like my old one? (that's what Time Machine is/supposed to do, right?) For example, I had Vmware Fusion on my Macbook and within it ran the mapping program ArcGis. If I do the "Time Machine thing" when configuring my new computer, will that all be in place (with the same file paths, etc), or will I have to re-install Vmware fusion and ArcGis, etc? Also, will there be a prompt when I open the new Macbook Pro asking me to connect an external hardrive, or something of that sort? (sorry for the dumb questions. I always backed up on Time Machine for safety, but never thought about actually how to do it).
View 10 Replies View RelatedAfter I setup an exernal drive on my network, I started using Time Machine. However, I did not know how slow my computer would become when it backs up and it backs up constantly. This is on my home computer, and there isn't that much irreplaceable data, I just want to backup documents and my photo library as they change. But it seems like Time Machine keeps backing up too much. I may not make any new documents or import any new files, and yet when time machine is backing up it says it's backing up several gigabytes; and it does so while slowing down my internet and computer processes. Â
All I want to do is have it backup documents and photos/media. I know you can choose to exclude certain things, but is there a way to configure it so it only backs up the things that I choose?
My time machine hasn't backed up since November 22. Every time it went for it's scheduled back-up it skipped and went to the next scheduled backup. When I tried to reconfigure the time capsule it won't let me select the disk that I would like to use for the time machine. Everything else is working fine (airport wifi at least). Here are some screenshots:
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to setup a mail server from a Mac OS X server machine.
I used the standard configuration as the wizard is going to setup all the services automatically.
I have an email of the kind server.com
After the finish of the configuration all the system was working perfectly, except one thing. I could not browse to any .com address I could not resolve the apple.com address. This is actually a DNS server issue and as my DNS server is hosted to my ISP, I closed the DNS service from the Server admin app. Now I could browse to .com addresses but all the settings to the client computers need to be done manually. Meaning not from the Directory utility. The problem is that the address of the server was changed from server.com to server.local so all the settings now are server.local, including my email address that changed from user@server.com to user@server.local that cannot be replayed from the recipient
My Question is can I change the default configuration settings that the directory utility sets?? or do any other configuration to solve the issue.
Also in the webmail when I send an email the email of the sender is the username continued by the ISP's internal static IP host which is different to my server.com. I found a solution to change the email from the personal information tag of the options button. Can I also pre configure these settings to be ready as a new user is created??
I have been running Time Machine on my iMac since I got it. I installed server and now I notice that the server app has Time Machine as well but its turned off. My oringinal Time Machine in system preferences seems to be running like it always has. What is the difference between the two?Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat do you think? My design company is all PC-based, but recently our file server has been spreading viruses, so I'm looking into switching our server to Mac Mini running OSX. But, on a second thought, I was wondering if I'm better off just to get the new Mac Pro, so my staffs can use it for the occasional AE and Maya rendering; that way they can go on with other business while rendering stuff.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just set up DNS on Lion Server and whereas previously I could connect to a system on my network by the hostname (e.g. via ssh), using the Lion Server DNS requires the fully-qualified name. View 2 Replies View RelatedOk so I was thinking. I know I can use an external hard drive to back up my mac with time machine. What I am not sure about, and I know it isn't a feature offered in Windows Home Server, but if I am not mistaken I can use my MacBook to access Windows Home Server to share my media right? Since it is through my network and all would I be able to just designate Windows Home Server as the location to store my Time Machine data? Incase it crashes I could just rebuild my MacBook through my network couldn't I?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a couple older PC's and a late 2008 MBP (my first Mac - yes, I am a Mac noob). I use boot camp to run XP on the MBP and decided to use that for the initial set-up of the server. Things were going well until it was updating the server software. It ticked up to 18% and stalled. About 45 minutes later, I (wrongly) figured that I shouldn't have tried to use my MBP and stopped the update. I switched gears and tried to run it on my HP desktop. It did the same thing - went to 18% and stopped. After another 30+ minutes, I called HP, and waited and waited on hold. I was getting impatient and decided to run the HP server recovery disk. While that was running, I got through to HP (close to an hour on hold). The guy seemed knowledgeable and told me that the updates are stalling at 18%. He told me that they are hearing waits/stalls that average around 2 hours at the 18% figure. For anyone else with a new HP mediasmart server, learn from my lesson and be patient.
The HP rep told me that it should not be a problem to run the first install with a windows OS via boot camp. This is not true for something like parallels. In the end, I did get the install done through XP via boot camp. He also told me that they are seeing problems with people dedicating a space larger than 100 GB's for Time Machine. He said it works for some people for a while, but it inevitably fails. When it fails, he said they are finding that people have to run a full server recovery (you lose all of your data) to get TM running again. They have not been successful with just creating a new slot/space for TM. Has anyone else heard this?.......................
I am thinking about purchasing an iMac for Christmas (I already have a couple of laptops). I have a couple questions: I'd like to run Mac OSX Server in a Virtual Machine on the iMac. Can this be done? What software do you recommend? I'm thinking about using an Xserve at work, but I have nowhere to test the software before purchasing. How good are the internal speakers on the iMac? Do I need external ones?
