i have a brand new Mac book, just got it last week, no problems until today. All of a sudden Acrobat locks up every time I try to open it. I had to restart several times, I have uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat three times, and nothing works. I had sent an e-mail to Adobe customer support; I don't imagine I'll ever get a response The version is Acrobat Pro 9.
View 6 RepliesI'm running OSX.4.11 on a Dual 500 G4. I've recently lost the ability to use Acrobat 7 Professional for some reason. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing, running all updates as well. I've trashed preferences. I've tossed /Library files. It still won't launch. Distiller will launch but won't distill at all. It just processes then crashes. Seems to have begun when I installed Adobe Reader 9. I also have CS3 & 4 apps installed which run fine. I know the conflict lies somewhere in all that but don't know exactly where. I am able to generate PDFs from other apps like Quark but I need the editing abilities that Pro offers.

That's okay with me, although I was a little disappointed when us CS5 buyers couldn't get a discount on Acrobat Pro X. No, the reason I'm calling out is because Acrobat's new icon is perfectly in line with the icons of the style of the main CS5 applications. They look like little books, while the Acrobat Pro 9 icon still has that flat style of CS4. Could somebody send me the new Acrobat icon? Doing so would be really simple. Copying and pasting the icon onto an empty folder, zipping said folder and uploading the resulting ZIP file.

When I try to create a PDF from a PM document I get this:PDF file was not created due to user cancellation or postscript file error. I have successfully done this many times with no problem. View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac 24 running OS 10.6.8 and I can no longer load .pdf files from internet sites. I can load them when they are on my local HDD. I deleted Adobe Reader a couple times and re-installed version 10.1 and then ver 9. All I get when I try to load a .pdf from an internet site using Safari 5.1.5 or Firefox version 11.0 is a blank grey screen.

Google says that its used when you work with postscripts files and want to convert them to pdf. Does anyone know if Distiller is used for something else? I only work with pdf files, so I was wondering if it was safe to delete Distiller. And if I delete it, does anyone know if I will have problems when there is an update for Acrobat, maybe it will complain about missing files?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get a copy of Acrobat Pro (CS3 version--I think it's 8) to stop crashing on an Intel iMac and I cannot for the life of me figure out where the corrupt pref is.
The crashes started after upgrading to 10.5, and happen about 20 seconds after opening it, regardless of what you're doing; the report appears to point to the update checker causing the crash, which would make sense based on the timing.
Now, if I create a clean account on the same machine, Acrobat runs fine, so it's got to be a pref issue of some sort. The Adobe Updater run manually also works, as do the other CS3 apps installed. I did also try completely reinstalling CS3, which didn't fix it.
Thing is, I've searched for every single user pref with "Adobe" or "Acrobat" in the filename, visible or invisible, folders and files both, and deleted ALL of them, regardless of the app they specify. Caches, plists, user Library application support files (not the root /Library ones, of course), and even after a restart it STILL crashes in exactly the same way.
I'm cleaning up my external HD (not my startup disk), and want to remove some old backed up stuff. I have a particular stubborn folder 'Acrobat User Data' that i cannot get into the trash.
I get an error stating: 'The operation cannot be completed because the item "8.0_x86" is in use.
Anyone knows how to force delete this sort of stuff in OSX 10.5.8?
I have set up the printer connected directly to my imac to be shared. I can see it and add it to my macbook and files print across the network from both Word and Firefox. However pdf files open in acrobat will not print from the macbook.
Tried many searches now but so far I have had no solutions.
How would one go about editing a PDF. Also, if I edit it, I don't want anyone to be able to "undo" my changes and reveal the old content. It would also be nice if possible, if there is a way to "lock" the file such that it cannot be edited further.

I have obviously put in scanner so they tessellate and fit neatly; only I keep coming across some that are in-correct in their dates (I've arranged the folders by months). I scan the mentioned receipt/receipts then I want to move them so they fit into a page with space and tessellate with the others (wasteful and not an option to have pages with only one receipt). Already tried using the 'touch up object tool' to try to move it; which looks like will work but image is behind/ disappears. It has gotta be possible to move things onto a page, does not have capabilities/ made for purpose of photoshop but only want to move something onto a page-not unreasonable request .

Every time I try to download the appropriate version as stated by Adobe off of their website, it won't allow me to do it. The cursor points at the download, but clicking on it does nothing.

I am unable to load any Adobe applications. I keep getting an error that I do not have the correct application/program to do the install of Acrobat X Pro and suggests going to the app store to download such software/programs. The Adobe product/media is for MAC and Adobe confirms suppport for 10.7.3, however the media only contains a .pkg installer file not a .dmg installer file which I need for MAC. I have tried two different DVD media for the same software and this is the case with both.
