Has anyone gotten their hands on Outlook for the Mac yet. How does it compare to Apple mail? I am only interested in the email client part. Can this be separated from the rest of outlook?
Can this synch with the iphone? If so how?
Are there alternative email clients for the Mac that are better than apple mail? By this, i mean non web based clients.
I download apps DIRECTLY to my iPhone and iPad 2 I do not download via iTunes.
When I plug in my iPad or phone (device from now on) and sync it in iTunes, it transfers and backups MY purchases fine. However the left window pane does not show the INSTALLED apps.
Theres only a list of apps, none with check marks , even if they are present on the phone or iPad. If select sync apps, it tells me it will DELETE all the apps on my device.Â
Am I doing something wrong, or is there a way to make iTunes place a check mark or recognize what IS ALREADY on my device with out having to start from scratch and delete all my apps by forcing me To manually select what apps I want installed on my device (which are already on my device!) Â Am I missing a step someplace? Shouldn't my library on my device show up on the left side of ITunes pane with apps INSTALLED already checked?Â

iPhone5 & MacBook Air are no longer automatically synching my contacts entered on either device.
IÂ don't know what I caused to make this change.
So all of a sudden Gmail is not synching with all my devices properly.. I use Mac Mail on my Powerbook, Iphone, and iPad, but if I read the email on one device, it won't get sent to other devices.. So essentially read mails do not get pushed.. I've never had this problem until about 2 weeks ago.. Anyone have a solution? I'm thinking of stop using my Gmail because of this...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently synched my iPhone 3gs with the iCloud. Then I aslo synched it with my Mac (mac pro laptop running Lion?). Result is that the Address Book on the Mac looks like the one on my iPhone. But, then I added some contacts on my iPhone, returned to the Mac, opened the Mac Address Book, but the new and updated contacts are not there. I thought the iCloud would synch these to the Mac! Also, should I have added the iCloud as an account on my Mac Address Book for this to work? My Mac Address Book preferences only shows two acconts, Yahoo and on my Mac (local).

I've been having a problem trying to Synch my Address Book with Google. At some point in the past it worked but it doesnt anymore.Â
I have tried "rebuilding it" by cleaning up the ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/
I have tried cleaning up the ~/Library/Caches and /Library/Caches I have tried cleaning the /Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.*Â
Nothing has worked.Â
I can export the Google Contacts in Vcard and Import fully.Â

I deleted some important contacts from my Address Book, which is synched with iCloud, recently.I restored my Address Book from a Time Machine back up which had the important addresses still included. But every time I open Address Book on my MacBook, it tries to synch with iCould, which is missing the contacts and therefore immediately deletes them.I have turned iClound sync off in my System Preferences, but because the Address Book Time Machine backup I am trying to restore from has iCloud 'enabled' in the Address Book preferences, every time I open it, it resets my System Preferences back to syncing Address Book with iCloud and it deletes the contacts I am trying to restore upon the application start up.How do I actually restore Address Book from a Time Machine back up and keep iCloud from overwriting that?

I used Macthe Ripper to rip my sons chuggington dvd to my macbook pro, then i used handbrake to convert it, i managed to copy the converted file to my itunes library, but when i symc my iphone 3gs, it says it won't copy the file because it can't be played on my iphone.Several forums mention using the iphone/ipod touch preset when converting in Hnadbrake, now i may be a numpty, but i cant find this preset anywhere?! The closest thing i can see is an apple button/setting.when i selected apple and told it to play again, it said it would overwrite the prev converted verison. It took hours to convert the first time, if I do this, will it really work? Or will I waste another 3 hours?!

I found out something interesting that brings back two years. Remember that old iPhone, the one that came out on June 2007. Well I think his accessories will save us some money for this new iPhone 4. I went inside my garage and found my old iPhone dock that Apple provided with the original iPhone. I said ?hey maybe this dock will fit the new phone.? And it did EXACTLY what I predicted. The new iPhone 4 dock FITS in the old original iPhone dock. I just saved myself $30 for a new dock!

In the Bluetooth Setup Assistant the macbook sees the iPhone 3G, but they don't connect after I accept the connect on the iPhone 3G. The codes on the Macbook and iPhone are the same and, therefore, should connect.
I've searched the Apple Discussions (support) but there is no answer there.

I unfortunately lost my whole itunes library that was on an external hard drive. I was able to download my music and apps stored in icloud. View 1 Replies View RelatedI used now 20 years microsoft windows. There are several things I like, but what I really hate is the stability. 7 days ago I bought a brand new Macbook Pro 15" with SD card slot, because I heard OS X is more stable, faster, etc.... OK: here is my small summerize:
a) the dock...well, I like the new taskbar from windows7 more. There you have a better overview. At OS X I always ask myself which windows are now really open. I only see icons...but no text. I have to use expose to see this. I don't like to hit always an additional button to get a better overview. Maybe i miss something...
b) the font smoothing from OS X is not my favorite. Really! Dear Mr. Jobs...please rethink this part. The font is for my eyes blurry! I read a lot about the reasons, but you will never convince more ex-windows users, because of the blurry font. I suggest to offer two options of font smooting.
c) small software market for OS X (I am a bit disappointed)
d) safari is perfect
e) it's stable
f) it's fast
g) it's sexy......................

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently received a dvd from a meeting with lectures that are in flv format. I would like to convert them for use in iTunes so that they are accessible on the iPhone. A few issues:
The DVD is built in multiple folders. For example
Content / lecture 1204 / video / xxxxxx.flv
Content / lecture 5302 / video / xxxxxx.flv
So the first (and biggest) hurdle is whether I can easily 'grab' all of the flv files (buried in their respective folders) to one directory on my macbook. I then need some advice on converting the flv tracks to mp4 ones. I may opt to go the Quicktime Pro route unless handbrake is capable of this as well.

how do i add movies to the iphone? i cant drag n drop movies or music to my iphone. i have checked off manually manage music and videos but i cant "dnd" them to the iphone. the only way i can do it is if i choose and check the sync options under the appropiate tabs and i don't wish to do that. so how do you MANUALLY DRAG N DROP movies and music onto the phone?
I'm trying to connect an iPhone to a Mac Mini via USB. The cable is known to be good. The USB ports all work with other USB devices. The iPhone works with USB devices on other computers AND if I plug it directly into the wall. When restart the computer with the iPhone plugged in, it connects while the OS is not in the ROM. As soon, however, as the OS starts to boot again, the iPhone disconnects.
I plug the iPhone in and nothing happens, including not indicating that it's charging (this is the problem). With the iPhone still plugged in, I restart the Mac. After all the open applications quit and the finder disappears, the iPhone chirps indicating that it's connected and charging. It stays charging while the Mac cycles through the rest of the restart. When, however, the Mac gets to the point where it starts booting the OS, the iPhone chirps again indicating that it's been disconnected.
10.5.8, 2.16 Core 2 Duo, 2 gb, Itunes 9.0.2 (25), iPhone version 3.0 on a 3G virgin (not unlocked/broken) I can't get my Iphone to sync or charge. I've uninstalled & reinstalled itunes several times, trashing the preferences and killing the itunes helper. I've reset the pram. I've rebooted multiple times with the iphone connected. I downgraded from itunes 9.1 and tried it all again but made no difference. The computer doesn't see it. The usb ports work with other hardware. The sync cable charges fine with the wall outlet adapter. Can't think of what else to do. Please don't make me go buy a blackberry. It will bring a curse upon my household and my children's children.

View 5 Replies View RelatedRunning iTunes v. 9.1.0.79. Trying to get ringers on an iPhone 3gs I just purchased yesterday. All of the methods I am seeing (outside of jailbreaking which I don't wan't to do) are not working. I'm assuming that the version of iTunes I am running has corrected the ways that people were using to get ringers. Anyhow, I have mp3 ringers from my other phone saved on my computer. I've tried importing them, converting them to AAC format to no avail. Is there any value in going down in versions to regain the ringer function. Is that possible? I gotta say, I am extremely underwhelmed by the choice of ringers in iTunes. I feel like I've gone back 10 years. if anyone knows of any other way to get ringers onto the iPhone (without jailbreaking) I'd love to hear them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a built in feature in OSX that will let me use the 3G signal from the iPhone to let me go online with my MBP? Or do I need a 3rd party program?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm fairly new to Macs, just got an iMac. So I'm working on getting everything transferred over and set up. I got my iTunes library working and I can sync my iPhone 4 and my iPod Nano 5g just fine. When I hook up my iPod its icon appears on the Desktop and I can explore it with Finder and copy/delete any videos that I've shot with it. The iPod also shows up on the left side of the Finder window in the Devices area. Now when I connect my iPhone it does NOT show up here and it seems like I must sync any photos or videos I have on my iPhone into iPhoto or Aperture. I would think it should show up in the Devices list and on the Desktop too but it doesn't. This seems funky to me but it does sync with iTunes fine. Is this normal? I just don't know if this is how it's supposed to be since I'm a Mac newbie. Is there a way to explore the iPhone through Finder to manage and copy the files?
