MY husbands computer does not show his shared devices. We checked all the items under advanced optiond and the only difference between his and mine is under the TCP/Ip tab and the following is a comparison:
The IPv4 address is different Mine: 10.0.1.195 His 10.0.1.193
Subnet the same
Router the same
Configure IPv6 both on Automatically
How do I do this? I'm assuming I'll need a hookup of some kind. And once it's done will I need to connect my ibook and imac together every time?

When I go to copy the picture from iCloud to iPhoto, a pop up box asks me if I want to duplicate this picture or not. All my data is accessible but I am concerned that it may get hidden. When I back up to my external HD it transfers all of my data but again I cant see me as a user. Could be coincidental but my logic board was replaced last week and i think it happened then.

Any clue as to what it is and how I can get rid of it? If I right click I only get Open or Get Info as options. If I click Open I get "Connection Failed". If I click on Get Info it displays "PC Server" under kind. I did try to get my MBP to print in my PCs HP printer (unsucessfully) using cups. So I don't know if that had anything to do with it. Right now I am on the MacBook Pro, my iMac is on in another room, and all other devices are off. Usually under shared from this computer I just see my iMac in finder because I allow sharing between the 2 computers... but I noticed something odd that I've never seen before. Something else is showing up under "Shared". It looks like another computer and says "mac001b639f####" I didnt fill in the last 4 characters just in case this ends up being some sort of personal info that I shouldnt be sharing.
I'm new to mac and don't have any idea on how I got this one. I already tried to restart my machine but the "ibmt61l3cv479" keeps on displaying on the Shared list. I didn't connect to any PC Servers and afraid that someone is accessing my mac.
Do you know how can I get rid of this?
Is it possible to have a kind of dropdown list of the devices (hard drives, dvd drives, usb drives) from an icon in the menubar? It would be very convenient.

Just purchased an airport extreme. Plugged my USB drive (previously formatted on a Windows machine) into the airport. While the disk does show up in the AirPort utility, it does not show up as SHARED in the finder.

However on the new imac messages which have been "read" on the iphone or on the macbook are still showing up as unread in mail on the imac.

I uploaded a few documents on to my iCloud drive from my Mac 1. I can see them from My Mac 1 and from iCloud.com but cannot from my other Macs.
Documents were uploaded in the morning and am checking at night, still no signs. Is there a access or sync issue for showing documents across all your devices ?

I'm not sure what the culprit is because the night I downloaded the last update of 10.5.8, the circuit for this room also blew. I don't know if it interrupted the download or not, as I wasn't paying attention. However, the next morning I woke up to the gray screen and it never booted. I finally was able to boot it up and the hard drive had a name like kjkldfjkjdkljafkjadkj. I renamed the hard drive and ran disk utilities on it. It needed to be repaired, so I installed the installation CD and used disk utilities from it. It says everything is fine. However, the hard drive now does not show up under Devices when using Finder. Also, everything seems to be a lot more sluggish now.

A couple of months ago I was at the head office and connected to the in house Wifi. When I did, a bunch of shared drives or folders showed in my finder under "Shared". View 2 Replies View RelatedI just jailbroke my iPhone 3GS and installed MyWi to work with my iPad. I also tried it on my MacBook Pro using Bluetooth. After I paired my iPhone and MacbBook Pro together everything worked fine. Now under the Airport Menu I see a separate category labeled "Devices" which is just below where my Home Network is.
My questions is how do I go about deleting this? I've tried everything. I deleted my device under Bluetooth Preferences, quit MyWi, messed around with the Network Preferences and it still appears under the Airport Menu. I even clicked connect but of course that doesn't work since I quit everything and deleted the device in Bluetooth settings. It's not even listed under "Preferred Networks" when you click on the advanced tab. It appears as "(my last name) Hotspot" and is under a tab labeled "Devices"
My iTunes sidebar shows that I have two devices are attached when in reality no devices are attached. I delete them and every time I open iTunes, they show up again in my sidebar.

I just plugged headphones into the headphone port on my iMac(dual core 2.4) I went to system preferences, sound, then output and only the internal speakers show up. I rebooted the machine and still, same thing.

When I send a test page to the printer it appears in the Windows print queue and shows 'spooling' as the status. The document never prints.
I really don't know where to go from here, I'm just totally stumped and I've been trying for weeks to get this to work. Has anyone got any ideas?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMade a custom TCP/IP port on the PC. Assigned my Mac's IP address 192.16.1.101 as the location of the printer. Made sure protocol was set to RAW. Everything should work but the print job never makes it to the Mac. The print que on the PC shows error and the print que on the Mac never shows anything. I decided to delete all the printers on the PC, plug it in directly to the printer via usb and let it install the drivers, print test page etc... After that I reconnected the printer to the mac, pc to the network and just changed the port on the printer properties to reflect the IP address. It still didn't work. I can't seem to find any more information on what to do next. The PC is running Win XP and the Mac is on Leopard. Another thing, how does the PC know which printer to use if the Mac has two attached? I disabled sharing on the other printer thinking the PC might have been confused.

We are two persons sharing our MacBook - and we want to share iTunes library, iPhoto-library + a common folder where we store documents like budget planning etc.
We have no problems creating files in the shared folder - but once I have created a file in the shared folder, the other user can only open this in "read-only"-mode. This also happens when I have used the iTunes library or iPhoto-library. After this the other user only has read-only access to the library. It happens with all types of files, e.g. also files created by [URL] pictures created with PaintBrush etc.
I set up my Macbook to share to my lowly PC, that was fine, but now I get a bar that says Shared Folder when I access the hard drive in my macbook from my macbook. Its incredibly irritating. I tried to 'fix' it but all I did was disallow permissions to my HD and was unable to access anything, had to re-install OSX to get it to work.
I did a search of the forums, but all I got was how to set up to share a folder, I got that part working fine.This is a picture of my Macbooks hd in Finder this is frustrating me, If i was on a PC something this simple would be easy, but Im still learning the ins and outs of OSX
