Can Reinstall Safari 5.1.2 Over 5.1.3

Mar 2, 2012

Safari 5.1.3 is a disaster. Ever since I upgraded a week ago I have had nothing but heartache, with multiple issues cropping up, all of them seemingling unfixable. As it turns out I have a backup of my system that has my previous, non-heartache version of Safari 5.1.2. My question is simple: Now that I've "upgraded" to Lion 10.7.3 and Safari 5.1.3, can I simply overwrite Safari 5.1.3 with the previous 5.1.2 version and get on with my life? Or will various changes throughout the system cause me more misery? Otherwise, I may just roll my whole system back to last week's backup and get on with my life.

Oct 26, 2009

My safari (4.0.3) has started giving me the spinning beach ball way too often. I've repaired permissions but it's still doing it. So I thought it's time to reinstall it, must be corrupted or something. I'm running OS X 10.4.11 on a power book G4. The only instructions I have is the user guide that came with my mac and it's a bit too vague. can anyone give me a basic run through on how to reinstall just safari?

Applications :: Safari Vanished And Can't Reinstall?

Dec 17, 2009

Safari 4 seems to somehow have been deleted from my mac. The dock icon had a question mark in it so I removed it from the dock (nothing happened when i clicked on it anyway). When I looked in my applications folder it appears to have gone from there. No problem I thought, i'll just reinstall it. Luckily I have Firefox on the computer so I went to apple.com/downloads and tried to download Safari 4. Nothing happens. A screen comes up saying thank you for downloading Sarafi but nothing has downloaded. Still not a problem i thought because i'm sure I have a copy of Safari 4 in my downloads folder from a few months ago. Found it, clicked on it and went through the install process. When it get to the "select a destination" stage it won't let me install because "this update requires Mac OS X 10.5.7 I have Mac OS X 10.5.8 which means it should work being a newer version. I can continue using Firefox but it seems a bit weird that I can't reinstall Safari. I have also noticed that for some reason i can't download anything else from the apple downloads page.

Software :: Safari Opening And Mac Support - Reinstall Disk?

Jun 5, 2008

I was having some issues with safari opening and Mac Support had me reinstall my disks. I just bought my MacBook like 3 months ago so I'm still getting used to everything and since installing I have 2 issues:

1. I found my user name, which we saved, on the "previous system" folder, but how do I get the info to apply. I tried dragging the whole folder to my desktop, but do I actually have to open each file and save them?

2. What happened to iphoto. I tried to open some of my pictures from my iphoto library and it said that I did not have iphoto on my computer

OS X :: Safari And Firefox Crashing After Clean Reinstall Of Snow Leopard

Nov 26, 2009

I loved the speed improvements Snow Leopard gave to my computer, but I knew that I would have to do a clean install sooner or later. Now, Safari and Firefox are crashing frequently (multiple times a day!) and everything is slowing down again. I'm hoping a reinstall of the operating system will fix that. However, I used up all 5 installs on my Family Pack. Can I reinstall Snow Leopard with that disc, even though all 5 installs have been used? Do I need to buy another copy? Can the Genius Bar do the clean reinstall for me while my computer is there for other repairs?

Software :: Safari Won't Work - Can't Reinstall Because "This System Cannot Use This Software"

May 24, 2009

I have a Mac OS X 10.3.9, processor 450 MHz Power PC G4. I tried downloading a new version of Safari not really knowing if it would be compatible with my computer. I wanted to see if I could update it because I had been having a lot of issues with pages properly loading. I've been using this mac for 4 years, it was not mine to begin with, so I have no idea what applications have been downloaded or what. Once I downloaded the new Safari and restarted my computer, I couldn't open Safari anymore at all. Now I've deleted the Safari icon from Finder in hopes of reinstalling it again. I have no disks what so ever pertaining to this mac.

I am working on Internet Explorer, but this browser does not work well with my mac at all. I need my old Safari back. I tried redownloading it, but everytime I do I get stuck when I try to install it onto the cube hd. It says "You cannot install this software on this volume. This system cannot use this software." Plus I don't have very much space on my cube hd. I don't know what to do? How can I free up space AND get my Safari browser back??? I'm very much a beginner at this so I don't really know all the technical terms that I've been reading on the internet for the last 5 hours. I've been searching the internet desperately and I can't find an answer. Btw, I'm a college student borrowing this computer from my stepdad so I only have the computer, no disks.

Do I need to install 10.5 first and then 10.6 or can I directly install 10.6? And what application do I need to load?

Secondly, my mac doesn't always shut down, it sometimes stalls on the blue screen with the spiral thingy and other times it just stalls on a blank desktop. Then I get other strange, irregular problems from time to time, I am wondering if I am doing something wrong or if I should just start again. I have a RevA MBA, running Snow Leopard.

MacBook Pro :: MBP Reinstall OSX ?

Jun 14, 2010

I am planing on selling my MBP. I needed to erase everything and reinstall OS X. I reformatted the drive, everything went ok. It started to install 10.5 but part way through the install, it froze at a time. I let it sit for about an hour. No change. Trying to click any of the menu icons at the top resulted in beach balling. I then, after reading advice, hard shut off the machine and rebooted to retry the install. Now, I just get a folder with a question mark and, when pressing "c" to have it boot from disk, it reads it, then ejects it. I need help to fix the problem. This is on a Macbook Pro Late 2007 edition.

Software :: Can't Reinstall MAC OS X

Dec 3, 2010

Recently my Macbook Pro had froze so I turned off the system by way of the power button. When I attempted to turn it back on I was stuck on the Startup Screen with the Apple and have not been able to get past that for several days. I had tried every solution I could look up without the use of the Mac OS X CD , which was not available to me at the time. I finally have the CD and first I tired to run disk utility on my HD (Hitachi HTS545032B9SA02 Media). Under First Aid I have no options present, not Repair Disk, nor Verify Disk, and not even Verify Disk Permissions or Repair Disk Permissions. At a loss there I attempted to reinstall Mac OS X. When I attempt that, I am brought to "Select Destination". The "Examining Available Disks" process runs but finds no options for me to reinstall Mac OS X. Again at a loss I attempt to erase the hard drive, as nothing drastically important is on the Hard Drive, when I attempt to do so. After about one second I get this message "Disk Erase failed with the error: Operation timed out". So... now. I'm completely at a loss. Is there any advice anyone can give me before I bring this to an Apple Store or is it completely hopeless. The version of OS X I have is 10.6. If any other information is needed for you to solve this problem I'll get it to you.

MacBook Pro :: How To Reinstall The SMC

Feb 22, 2012

my MBP (early 2008) seems to have a corrupted SMC.Operations that i think are managed by the SMC like booting and sleeping are having big issues:  First, to boot OSX needs about 10 minutes. After presing the power-buton the chime sounds and the apple logo appears. OSX starts loading.

Then it suddenly stops and a blue screen appears. This blue screen stays there for several minutes. Then i can hear a little sound from the hard disc   and the desktop appears as always and i can use OSX without any problems.  Second, to get the MBP to sleep isnt working at all. Closing the MBP leads to a black screen, while the fans etc are still working. There is no way to wake it up again, so i have to do a force shut down.

I already formated the hard disc and reinstalled OSX 10.6 twice, but the problem still occurs. And I already tried to reset the SMC (pressing 5sec power button etc) and tried to clean the PRAM. I have no clue if the resets were actually done. I didnt have to enter passwords etc again like i was expecting to do after a PRAM-Reset. Is there a way to reinstall the SMC? I tried to but i got the message "Firmware is already up to date. No update necessary."
