My safari (4.0.3) has started giving me the spinning beach ball way too often. I've repaired permissions but it's still doing it. So I thought it's time to reinstall it, must be corrupted or something. I'm running OS X 10.4.11 on a power book G4. The only instructions I have is the user guide that came with my mac and it's a bit too vague. can anyone give me a basic run through on how to reinstall just safari?

Safari 4 seems to somehow have been deleted from my mac. The dock icon had a question mark in it so I removed it from the dock (nothing happened when i clicked on it anyway). When I looked in my applications folder it appears to have gone from there. No problem I thought, i'll just reinstall it. Luckily I have Firefox on the computer so I went to apple.com/downloads and tried to download Safari 4. Nothing happens. A screen comes up saying thank you for downloading Sarafi but nothing has downloaded. Still not a problem i thought because i'm sure I have a copy of Safari 4 in my downloads folder from a few months ago. Found it, clicked on it and went through the install process. When it get to the "select a destination" stage it won't let me install because "this update requires Mac OS X 10.5.7 I have Mac OS X 10.5.8 which means it should work being a newer version. I can continue using Firefox but it seems a bit weird that I can't reinstall Safari. I have also noticed that for some reason i can't download anything else from the apple downloads page.

The link on the apple website is for either tiger of leopard. I downloaded the leopard one, but it will not install on my computer because it is 10.6.1 instead of 10.5.8 or later. View 1 Replies View RelatedSafari 5.1.3 is a disaster. Ever since I upgraded a week ago I have had nothing but heartache, with multiple issues cropping up, all of them seemingling unfixable. As it turns out I have a backup of my system that has my previous, non-heartache version of Safari 5.1.2. My question is simple: Now that I've "upgraded" to Lion 10.7.3 and Safari 5.1.3, can I simply overwrite Safari 5.1.3 with the previous 5.1.2 version and get on with my life? Or will various changes throughout the system cause me more misery? Otherwise, I may just roll my whole system back to last week's backup and get on with my life.

Okay. So, Safari was giving me some trouble, right? So, I thought I would delete it and reinstall it. I never had a problem doing so before, right? So, why not? I did, and then, when I tried to reinstall it, it tells me I have a newer version already installed.

I accidentally removed Safari and am now trying to reinstall it from the disk. However, I can't check the box for Safari on the Optional Installs disk. I'm running 10.5.8 on an imac. I have now backed up everything (not Safari b/c I had already deleted it) to time machine and looking at doing a custom reinstall from the "install Mac OS X.app" disk.

1. I found my user name, which we saved, on the "previous system" folder, but how do I get the info to apply. I tried dragging the whole folder to my desktop, but do I actually have to open each file and save them?
2. What happened to iphoto. I tried to open some of my pictures from my iphoto library and it said that I did not have iphoto on my computer
I accidently deleted Safari and now I can't reinstall because it keeps telling me there is a newer version on my computer. The issue is my system does not support the newer version.

I loved the speed improvements Snow Leopard gave to my computer, but I knew that I would have to do a clean install sooner or later. Now, Safari and Firefox are crashing frequently (multiple times a day!) and everything is slowing down again. I'm hoping a reinstall of the operating system will fix that. However, I used up all 5 installs on my Family Pack. Can I reinstall Snow Leopard with that disc, even though all 5 installs have been used? Do I need to buy another copy? Can the Genius Bar do the clean reinstall for me while my computer is there for other repairs?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently reinstalled OSX 10.5.8 on my penryn MBP so I could make a larger XP bootcamp partition. After reinstalling leopard and restoring my whole system through time machine my computer is acting weird. First, "the file "itunes library" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes". It didn't upgrade itunes to 9 till after I had done all the TM restoring. should be older, no? Second, adobe applications crashed. I was in AI working on a 500 mb file and BOOM, beach ball>crash. All other CS3 unable to open. I have 4 gigs of ram and some of the applications that would not open were not even in use at the time of the AI crash, could this be something with the TM backup? CS3 was all installed together.
Third. While this epic crash is happening on my desktop disappears. Just a blank desktop image. but wait, If I click were things used to be, Bam they appear out of no where, but only if I click where it is supposed to be. It's there in the desktop folder but not showing up as icons on my desktop. I think this has happened to me before the reinstall too, though never all at once, usually when I use the "pinchy" to resize icons one or two will disappear. Fourth. Cisco clean access agent beach balls and requires hard reset. the login window was floating on screen all the way till the screen turned off. These all happened in the same day, now It is working some what like normal, though my itunes is broke. Any ideas on how to fix this itunes? If I only need one application and it's plug-ins (SU and Podium beta) restored through TM ( i have a disk for all the others) is there a way to just restore the one. Would this give me a more stable system over all? should I go ahead and reinstall and restore the one app and do the rest manually?
Front Row was giving me problems so I thought I'd reinstall it. I completely deleted it from my hard drive (even the hidden files).
I then d/led it from apple's website but it turns out that's only an update.

Well, we have student teacher copy of office with 3 serial numbers. I have 2 other serial numbers that he could have used. Is there a way to wipe the serial number he entered on his computer and use the other serial number? If not how could I totally remove office from his computer and install it again with a new serial number.
i had an old version but finally upgraded to Garageband 3, the problem is that while i still had the old version I had installed and then deleted some plug ins and now when i try to start GB 3 it says please locate a folder but of course there is none so i hit cancel and then it just says some crap about needing to reinstall the plug in, which i want to do, and will not allow me past this point so I cant ever start the program.

Anyway, now I find myself needing to run a script to tweak over a thousand pictures; I have the exact script needed but no way to use it.
I can't find a download for the actual program, all I get are downloads for scripts for automator; it's really giving me a headache.
I read another thread here from way back in 2005 about finding it on the OS disc, unfortunately I do not have the Leopard disc because my MBP was given to me by my school as part of a technology thing.
I need to reformat my Boot drive because Ubuntu messed up my Master Boot Record and I can not run Boot Camp. I have a time machine back up of all my applications. Can I use this once I reinstall OSX?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a hard drive with bad blocks. I backup the data and various other part of the drive to the cloud. However, I want to make a backup of the entire disk but want to be able to access all the data individually as I want to transfer the data onto a new HD and the applications/fonts etc onto an SSD. Also, is it advisable to literally copy the contents of the Applications folder across to the new SSD drive or should they really be re-installed one by one (yikes!)?
