Mar 25, 2010Probably you know the context menu on highlighted word in Safari, which gives us the options like "Search in Spotlight", "Search with Google", Look up in Dictionary" .. Do you know if there is a way I can add more search options in the same context menu?

I bought the Rev B, but had to return it because of 5 dead pixels in the center and the horizontal line issue. I am thinking of saving over $1,000 by getting the above. It is new/in box and from amazon. This is the best deal I have seen. It is even cheaper than the refurb models at apple.com.

Jun 12, 2010since i have updated to flash 10.1 my mid-2010-mbp i7, in safari (version 5) scrolling is very laggy, when on a page with flash contents. especially when on intel gpu (i use gfxcardstatus). on nvidia its a bit better, but it still sucks.
furthermore, if i do a right-click on any flash content and go to settings, it totally freaks out and switches gpu every second, and the only thing i can do is force quit safari. this doesnt happen, when i'm initially on nvidia-gpu.

Mar 7, 2008That's what I see when my mouse is over any menu item and when it's not over any menu item. I've lost menu highlight on the menu bar and the contextual menu (via right click on files and folders) My system is running OS 10.5.2. I've already tried fixing disk permissions. It's like my mouse has gone into stealth mode. Interface can no longer detect my cursor is hovering over them. E.g. Hovering over a web link doesn't highlight that it's a link and status bar below doesn't print the url address of that link. Last thing I could remember was telling Opera 9.25 to give me a pop up regarding web cookies. That's when I lost menu highlight.

Oct 6, 2010bought an apple mouse and it won't connect, but reading on the forums the scroll click won't work anyways. and to be honest i wasn't happy about spending $75 on a mouse.
can i buy any windows mouse to run on it? i'd assume yes but want to verify. what i need is a mouse with the center scroll click to grab objects in pro/e to rotate them, which i can't do right now and its making things more difficult than it should. suggestions on mouses, or ones that you know do or don't work. does not matter if its wireless or wired. and if i can be picky preferably black.

May 1, 2010I cannot uninstall the TV Center Toolbar from Safari. I used the uninstall feature on the toolbar, and the uninstall feature in "applications" "toolbars" "uninstal" folder. I have even re-installed the application and then tried to uninstall (as per the companies instructions). A good 3rd party software to uninstall perhaps??

Jul 6, 2009I'm on an older blackbook (2 years old? ca. summer 2007) running Leopard and I'm getting some weird behavior with Finder. When I right click on anything in the dock, i.e., to close a program, the dock locks up, I can't click on any of the menu options, Expose stops working and the alt+tab interface stops working, as if everything is frozen... This caused me to think that Finder was crashing, but then I discovered that when I went up to the menubar at the top, everything "unfroze." The dock went back to normal and was usable, expose works fine and the alt-tab interface works fine too.

Dec 5, 2009Clicking with the left and right mouse buttons doesn't seem to be working properly. I first realised this when a message box warning me of low disk space popped up and I couldn't click on OK. Scrolling with the ball works, as does clicking with it. I restarted my iMac and removed the batteries from the mouse for a minute, but all that happened was that left and right clicks started acting like middle clicks. A wired mighty mouse works fine. I've tried cleaning it by turning it upside down and rubbing the ball on paper and a clean damp cloth, no change.

Jun 3, 2014I downloaded and installed the OS Maverick's recent 10.9.3 update on my 15" Retina Macbook Pro. However since then I am unable to use certain features, like when I right-click on the Desktop, the menu bar shows only two possible options. I cannot "clean up" the icons on my Desktop anymore. Futhermore, I cannot right-click on some places at all - in Finder for example, nothing happens when I right-click on blank space. Only when I right-click on the icons itself does the menu bar pop up, and that only if the viewing mode is in list, columns, or cover flow (basically not in the "icons" viewing mode).
If I understand correctly instead of showing the possible actions that you can't do in grey, it's simply not showing them at all? Either way it's really ugly, and the usefull clean up application is gone!

Software :: Won't Show Folder Options After Double Click On Hard Drive
May 18, 2009I have used Macs since 1983 and for the life of me I can't figure this out. I can create a folder on the desktop, double click it, and the folder actions are there. I double click on the hard drive itself and no folder actions, and no way to get them back.
I've repaired permissions. I've used OnyX. I've used TinkerTool to see if there's some hidden options. I've Gotten info and Finder/Preferences -- Nothing.

Safari :: Can't Click On New Web Pages
Apr 16, 2012Often when I click on a weblink, Safari tries to load the new page, but nothing. The web address shows up in the bar at the top, but no response. It happens often. But, even when I'm having trouble, navigating around in some closed community like Facebook works fine, so it's not an internet connection problem. (I thought it was a connection problem at first--poor wiring?--but since I can move around in Facebook, I'm dismissing that.) Also, it happens both when the computers are connected through the routers or directly via Ethernet to the AT&T U Verse modem.
This started when we switched from Comcast cable to AT&T, but there have been numerous Safari updates since then. I don't really think it is a Safari problem. The only PC on the home network doesn't show this problem (but it is an older, slow PC); both Macs on the network exhibit the problem. Happens whether we use the ethernet network or go wireless (non-Apple routers).

May 2, 2006For some reason all of a sudden I can't visit www.google.com When I try to hit it, Safari says the Server can not be found. However when I go to Google's IP, http://64.233.187.99/ the page loads right up. Every other website loads fine except www.google.com. Also for some reason I'm not connecting to my POP email anymore in Mail. What happened? How can I fix this?

Sep 13, 2009The problem is that when all I have is safari windows open, expose keeps lining them side by side instead of spreading them out. In the first pic you'll see what I mean. If I open something else along with the safari windows though, it will spread them like normal, second pic for example. I think it probably happened after one of the last updates.

Safari has the Zoom-In function, standart hotkey 'cmd+', and I want my mouse to do that by cmd+scrolling. I use the app 'SteerMouse' for making my mouse's special buttons work, but I couldn't find an option to combine a mouse action (i.e. 'scrolling') with a keyboard key (i.e. cmd).
Someone an Idea?

Apr 20, 2012Just purchased a new MacBook Air for my wife. While it is a huge step-up from the previous macbook, we've run into a very frustrating problem. Every now and then Safari will no longer accept any click on links or the ability to enter data into fields. You tap and click and it's like a brick wall--no response. We've tried forcing a refresh of that page, still won't work. If I quit Safari and then go back to the page, it's works. But unless I quit the app, it just remains an unclickable webpage.
Any thoughts?? I've never encountered this before and it is hard to duplicate as it is not consistent with specific sites or work flow.
Safari Window Goes Behind Dock / When Click Green (+) Orb
Jun 2, 2012Whenever I open Safari and click the green orb instead of resizing the window it just makes the window go behind and underneath the dock, and if I click the green orb again it resizes it correctly, but the same thing happens again if I close and then open Safari..I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro... just in case it makes a difference.
