View 1 RepliesI've always had my iTunes window centered on my screen, until now that I realize that the iTunes window refuses to place itself anywhere on the screen except for in center! If I try to move it in any other position, it just pops back in place.
View 4 Replies View Relatedextremely annoying every time i close quicktime and reopen a new movie it keeps opening up top left hand corner of the screen, anyone know of a terminal command or some hack to have it remember the position i last left it in?>?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI'm a mac newbie and I installed Office for Mac '08 today. I don't see an option to have Office remember the window size and position. So every time I open Word, Powerpoint, etc they open so that they take up 60% of the screen. How can I have the programs remember the size and position of the window?
Late '08 MBP.
Whenever I open the programs-section of the finder, the windows is always slightly positioned off-screen (about 1/3rd is out of the screen to the right). When I drag the window to a new (so I can see all) position, it always jumps back whenever I close and reopen the finder. Any fix for this?
Also, is there a way to get the icons to auto-arrange themselves like I can setup in Windows?
Is there a way to reset the position of iTunes video windows? I usually use an external 23" monitor with my MBP and sometimes I move the video I'm watching on iTunes out of the MBP screen (on the external monitor). But, when I use the MBP without external monitor and I try to play iTunes video, the video is out of the screen, basically I can't see it and I can't find a way to move it into the screen (I can see it using expose').

I currently have the items in my folders displayed as 'columns'. When I open a new folder, the folders contents are displayed in the next column to the right. So after going a few folders in, the scroll bar on the bottom of the finder window is somewhat large. This is normal.
However the problem is, whenever I drag a document from my desktop into the most recently opened folder, finder resets the scrollbar to the position on the left side, forcing me to drag the window over again every time. This it a rather large annoyance, since the way I work I pull and replace lots of files from the same series of folders.
I just recently upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard (finally), and ever since then I have noticed this strange issue with Finder. It did not happen in Tiger or Leopard.
Is this something that Snow Leopard now does by default now, or am I the only one experiencing this?
Even when I hit the Green button on any window it never maximizes the screen size to fill up the screen and still keep the dock showing at the bottom?Â

I've been using a plugin for firefox (on my PC) called screengrab, but the plugin isn't available on FireFox for mac.
It's an awesome plugin - basically it allows you to take a screenshot of an entire window in firefox, no matter how long it is. So far it's the only plugin I've found that let's you do it within firefox. I know there's a utility for OSX that lets you input a URL and it gives you a full page screenshot, but the problem is a lot of the time I need a screenshot from a website I'm logged into (email, college transcript, forums, etc.) so the app is somewhat useless in that regard since it doesn't work if you need to login.
My Macbook Pro is fairly new, and the hinge on both side is already making squeaking noise when I open my screen. It gets a bit annoying, I open it from the center top of the screen, not by the side. Is this a problem that I should be taking to the Apple Store? Or this can be fixed easily?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI seem to have the following problem. not sure exactly how it started as my wife was using the mac at the time (she says she just dragged the safari to different desktop via mission control) but now the situation is as follows:
When I hit safari icon it switches on (I can see the little light dot underneath the icon and after right click I can see names of windows that are opened) however I can only see the Safari menu at the top but no window. If I scroll to the right or left to different desktops it's not there, the same goes if I double tap to see the Mission Control mode it's not there...
I so far figured out that once the Safari menu is visible on top of the screen I can go to View>Enter Full Screen and then Safari will come back into the full screen mode but once I unclick the full screen button in right top corner the whole window just swoops into the right top corner and it's nowhere to be found again.

So in a half-drunken stupor I dropped/threw my MBA on a mattress. The problem was that it was 'open', with the screen at its normal up position of maybe 135-degrees-or-so from the keyboard. Upon landing on the mattress, something in the hinge literally snapped (it sounded like a plasticky snap) and the screen went all the way backwards until it was flat - think 180 degree angle between keyboard and screen. Nothing seems to be malfunctioning yet. It's working just as before, except now there's a bigger tilt-back angle for the screen... I can tilt it back literally as much as I want. My question to you guys, assuming someone else has done this, is whether in the long run it's going to bite me in the ass. Because something definitely broke, I'm not sure whether what broke was 'important'.

I used the uninstall feature on the toolbar, and the uninstall feature in "applications" "toolbars" "uninstal" folder. View 1 Replies View RelatedMy screen has a strange brightness inconsistency in the center of the screen where the Apple logo is. It is as if the pixels surrounding it are not the same brightness as those of the remainder of the screen. It was purchased on 4/11/11 so warranty is not an issue (I have Apple Care).

I recently dropped my Machine at an angle and it seemed to knock my screen off center. When closed, part of the machines body is exposed where it used to be covered by the screen. It's only off by a hairline or two. It sticks out the same distance on the back of the machine. When I open or close it, the machine catches on the body and makes a slight scratching sound. How can this be repaired ? How will the Apple store treat this ?The machine did power itself off as well. I'm hoping I wont have to pay an arm and a leg for a bent piece of plastic

I just bought an eMac from an appliance recycing center. It works great except for the lines running down the screen well it's kind of more like shaky. It's a G4 800 mhz I took it through the rain to my truck to get it home. But even then it didn't get too wet.
View 5 Replies View RelatedFor some reason my iTunes keeps snapping back to the center of my screen whenever I switch to mini-player. It used to snap the location wherever I had it before. For example, lets say I place the mini-player to the bottom right of my screen. If I were to switch to the full-size player to change something real quick, then swap it right back to mini-player mode, it would snap back to the bottom right of my screen. Now, whenever I switch from mini-player to full-size player, back to mini-player, it defaults back to the center of my screen...
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I love my 1 1/2 month old 13inch MBP.
The thing is that recently at random times throughout my day when I'm, using my Mac...my finger will be on the glass trackpad and i'll be doing something like say surfing the web or using w/e application...Well, randomly the mouse on the screen will disappear from its current location, say for example on Firefox's toolbar, immediately to the bottom of the screen. It's never the top of the screen, or the sides since it normally just causes the dock to rise up...
I'm really concerned to see what's going on here. I rarely had this problem with my old Whitebook, though admittedely did happen a few times.
Perhaps a water spill/damage? Though consider to have been very careful with my new Mac. I'm sure the glass trackpad on these new Macbook Pro's has water damage sensors right? Anyway I can see it/observe it myself.
I used to love taking apart my old whitebook but these new MBP's seem impossible; that or i'm just too scared since I do love how the machine was built.
My two previous older macs have been perfect to me, but this new MBP I5 model is giving so many issues lately. Every once in a while, my computer's graphics (I am assuming) goes crazy, and I get this pixelated distortion that's right in the middle of my screen that's about 2"x5" on my 17" screen. This happened just earlier, while I was using Safari. However, even after closing all of the Safari windows down, the distortion will still be there, and will stay there regardless of what I have or don't have open. Logging in and out will fixes the problem, and everything goes back to normal for the mean time. Any one ever experience similar problems or know what I could do to see what's going or fix it?

On my 13" MacBook Pro, the hinge makes a cracking noise on the right side of the computer (near the power button) when the screen is positioned all the way back. The entire hinge also makes a loud popping noise when I adjust the screen position. The screen seems very tight, and it takes a little bit of effort to move the screen, and when the screen is moved it makes the loud popping noise.
This is probably going to make some of you guys cringe, but sometimes putting pressure down on the top of the case close to where the black hinge meets to unibody enclosure seems to stop the popping noises. Putting downwards pressure on the hinge, or flipping the computer over and putting pressure on it that way, also seems to alter how much popping noise there is.
If I mess around a bit with applying pressure on different parts of the computer around the hinge, I can usually eliminate the noise. But, the cracking noise when I put the screen all the way back is still there.Any ideas what to do? It's not interfering with the operation of the computer, it's just incredibly annoying and this is only a four month old machine which shouldn't be creaking and cracking already.
I put off doing the software update on Safari... I just HAD a feeling something would go wrong and I didn't have time to mess with it if it did.
So today I ran and update. And it messed up.
Now Safari will "open"... it looks like it is open and I have access to all the menus. But a Safari window will not open.
I am surprised that I haven't seen others with this problem. I have tried deleting the cache and deleting the preferences file. Neither seem to have made ANY difference.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. And I am feeling like I'm missing a body part. I need my Safari back!
