Probably you know the context menu on highlighted word in Safari, which gives us the options like "Search in Spotlight", "Search with Google", Look up in Dictionary" .. Do you know if there is a way I can add more search options in the same context menu?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am unable to use the search window on the right to get results when Google is selected as the search engine.I type in a search term and I am directed to a blank google search page. I have to type in the search term again, then I see a list of "hits". But when
I click on one of these hits I am not directed to the URL displayed. I have quit out of Safari and relaunched. I have rebooted my Mac. Neither changes the problem... This is a Google problem: I have the same symptoms when I use Safari on Windows XP. When I switch the search engine to Bing, the problems go away, for both platforms Has Google been hacked? Is this a Google attack on Safari? How can I enter GoGoDuck as a search engine choice?

Is there a keyboard shortcut for switching search engines in Safari's search box (I believe Chrome had this feature before they got rid of the search box in the latest version)? The arrow on the left-hand side is cumbersome.

Hum I dont know how or why this changed havent told Safari to change it. is there a way to set it back to safari? Only thing I have downloaded is Makethewebbetter for a plug in for facebook dont think that changed it (its a app for elfyourself)

View 3 Replies View RelatedThat's what I see when my mouse is over any menu item and when it's not over any menu item. I've lost menu highlight on the menu bar and the contextual menu (via right click on files and folders) My system is running OS 10.5.2. I've already tried fixing disk permissions. It's like my mouse has gone into stealth mode. Interface can no longer detect my cursor is hovering over them. E.g. Hovering over a web link doesn't highlight that it's a link and status bar below doesn't print the url address of that link. Last thing I could remember was telling Opera 9.25 to give me a pop up regarding web cookies. That's when I lost menu highlight.
View 12 Replies View RelatedMaybe I really don't know what I'm doing. On my regular finder I can have a list and manipulate the order. (i.e. change the order from the oldest to the most recent. Or even largest to smallest files) This is normal to me. What I don't understand is that when I create a search, I don't have that option to adjust the order of the date created, size, etc. When I try to adjust the options view in the search, it will not allow me to.

I'm on an older blackbook (2 years old? ca. summer 2007) running Leopard and I'm getting some weird behavior with Finder. When I right click on anything in the dock, i.e., to close a program, the dock locks up, I can't click on any of the menu options, Expose stops working and the alt+tab interface stops working, as if everything is frozen... This caused me to think that Finder was crashing, but then I discovered that when I went up to the menubar at the top, everything "unfroze." The dock went back to normal and was usable, expose works fine and the alt-tab interface works fine too.
View 6 Replies View RelatedClicking with the left and right mouse buttons doesn't seem to be working properly. I first realised this when a message box warning me of low disk space popped up and I couldn't click on OK. Scrolling with the ball works, as does clicking with it. I restarted my iMac and removed the batteries from the mouse for a minute, but all that happened was that left and right clicks started acting like middle clicks. A wired mighty mouse works fine. I've tried cleaning it by turning it upside down and rubbing the ball on paper and a clean damp cloth, no change.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI downloaded and installed the OS Maverick's recent 10.9.3 update on my 15" Retina Macbook Pro. However since then I am unable to use certain features, like when I right-click on the Desktop, the menu bar shows only two possible options. I cannot "clean up" the icons on my Desktop anymore. Futhermore, I cannot right-click on some places at all - in Finder for example, nothing happens when I right-click on blank space. Only when I right-click on the icons itself does the menu bar pop up, and that only if the viewing mode is in list, columns, or cover flow (basically not in the "icons" viewing mode).
If I understand correctly instead of showing the possible actions that you can't do in grey, it's simply not showing them at all? Either way it's really ugly, and the usefull clean up application is gone!

I have used Macs since 1983 and for the life of me I can't figure this out. I can create a folder on the desktop, double click it, and the folder actions are there. I double click on the hard drive itself and no folder actions, and no way to get them back.
I've repaired permissions. I've used OnyX. I've used TinkerTool to see if there's some hidden options. I've Gotten info and Finder/Preferences -- Nothing.

I only have the address bar now. When I open Safari it looks for a second as if everythings normal (search bar appears), and then it dissapears suddenly and only the Address field remains in it's place. (it takes up the whole screen now) I tried resetting safari, deleting extensions, repairing permissions and emptying the cache. Still can't see the search bar. Do I have to uninstall/reinstall Safari? The rest of the browsing experience is fine.

The only trouble I am having is getting google search results in Safari to open in another tab, instead of the same window, or a new window. Anyone else see this, or have a way to make this work? I like to click on a google link, and have it open in a new tab.
I used to remove my Safari search bar using this tip:

Ever since I upgraded to 10.7.4 I've had some major annoyances rear their heads with my 2011 iMac. The issue I'm looking for help with, though it may seem small, is with the Safari search bar. I know there have been discussions before about this and I've always had a difficult relationship with the search bar as it is supposed to change to your 'local' search engine, e.g. for me that would be Google UK, yet it has often defaulted to Google US which means that searches can be a little less relevant at times. Anyway, for months things have been fine. The search bar defaulted to Google UK until the 10.7.4 update hit... All of a sudden my Google search bar now defaults to Google.com in GREEK...
Since I don't speak a word of Greek, I'm sure you can see how this has become an issue. I've tried all manner of things, resetting safari, changing language settings but have been unable to get it to change back. I tried changing to Bing search but to be honest, Google search in Greek is a **** of a lot more useful than Bing in English is, which I think says a lot. I did have greek as a secondary keyboard layout so that I could use the greek characters for my physics work but UK English has always been my default and I have since removed Greek yet the search bar stays the same. It's really becoming irritating now as every time I search it sets my whole Google experience to Greek with a cookie so any google.com service I use ends up in Greek and it's a pain to reset it.

Is there a plug in for safari to use the url bar as a google search bar? The reason why I can't use google chrome is mobilme. I might sync my bookmarks over the air and I found no way to do this with chrome. I could simply change back to safari but I ll lose the nice search-bar feature.

In Firefox this opens a new tab but with Safari it uses the current tab which messes with the flow of my work. For instance if I actually use google.co.uk you get the option of - pages from the UK.
But instead of going to to the google.co.uk page all the time is there a way in Safari so that the Google search engine will only show - pages from the UK
