OS X :: Macbook Pro Video Plays Distorted Sound - How Can I Prevent From It?
Sep 10, 2009
I have an older Macbook Pro 2.33 ghz and lately when I've been watching videos on Youtube, Megavideo, etc. the video will become choppy and the sound becomes distorted and gargled. This problem is becoming increasingly annoying (just about everyday) and I don't know what is wrong. I've noticed that this happens when the computer gets really HOT. I usually have to shut the computer so that it goes to sleep and cools down for a little while. When I reopen the computer the video usually plays fine for a while. Anyone else experience this problem or know of a solution?
I have the newest mac ox software and everything is updated from what i can see. but if i try to watch some video i d/l from the web i can't get any sound from then just the video. anyone else having this problem or know what i can do to make it work?
I need help getting the correct CODECs in order to play video files. (mpeg-4,avi,wmv,divx,etc..) The video show up perfectly but audio doesn't. This happens normally with movies the I download.
Lately my Macbook's sound has become distorted while playing videos or watching flash videos/streams. This doesn't happen all the time, it seems to happen most when my computer is overloaded (which happens a lot due to the Safari Flash plug in). The distorted sound is not just in the video, but the entire computer is effected (any sound including iTunes music/volume control sounds/etc). I found a way to fix it, which is to plug in a pair of headphones into the audio out port (which then plays sound normally through the headphones) and then when i unplug it the sound is all fixed when playing from the speakers.
I want to prevent this from happening again though because it's annoying enough when Flash video starts chugging in Safari. Whenever it f*cks up the sound I get even more pissed that I have to go grab a pair of headphones to fix the problem. This happened like 5 times today. I have SL, if that matters since I never had this issue when Leopard was installed.
I am a new mac user and a sound similar to the "Frog" sound effect keeps playing at random times and with no apparent reason. It just plays and at different times...Sometimes it's every 20 seconds, sometimes more or less. I disabled the sound in System Preferences and it kept playing. I don't know what else to do since i'm new with mac I also reseted the PRAM and it stopped for a while but now it started again. I've noticed that most of the times it sounds when i'm charging the battery, i don't know if it has something to do.
I have a macbook pro with the 8600m gt graphics chip. I has recently failed and now will not start, no chime just disk spinning and steady white glow from the sleep indicator. Is this product still covered under the extended waranty programme? If it is, will apple cover the machine even though it won't start up?
Any thoughts or insights greatly welcome before travelling significant distance to Apple Store.
I have a DVD with a video on it that plays fine on a PC but on my Macbook Pro it says that it's a blank DVD and will not play the video that is on the disc. The video plays on Windows Media Player when I open it on a PC, so I installed the newest version of Flip4Mac thinking this would work, but the disc still shows up as a blank disc and cannot be played. I work in the legal field, so I got the DVD from an attorney, and I frequently tend to have problems opening videos on my macbook pro that come from the legal field.
I listen to and watch a lot of podcasts. Quite often, after I am done listening to a Audio Podcast I will watch a video podcast. Some times it gets stuck and won't play the video but plays audio fine. Anyone else have this problem?
I purchased my Macbook in August 2007 and have no problems until Christmas this year.
It started buzzing and I wasn't sure what it was, until a week later I got a folder with a question mark at log-in, from what I understand my hard-drive died. I replaced the hard-drive myself within a few minutes, very easy and no problems, and it runs perfectly.
It's been two weeks and it's already buzzing again. I take very good care of my Macbook but I do transport it from class and back everyday.
This is a bit of an old one I know. When I turn my Mac on it goes through the boot up process and as it about to come to the desktop image it selects the HD Mac as if I had pressed it with the mouse and then starts the cancel sound bonging away until I press the escape button on the keyboard. This normally keeps it at bay. Although on occasion it suddenly selects it again and starts playing the cancel sound again. When I unplug the keyboard it doesn't make that sound at all. I hate the wireless keyboard but wonder if I buy another wired one will it start making the same noise again?
Having an odd problem with Front Row. I have a G5 w/ dual 2GHz processors running the latest of Leopard. I've seen a lot of complaints about FR with laptops, but not much with towers. The menu system and interface works fine, but when I select a trailer to view, it comes up, but no video, only audio is playing. On other boards, some have said that it gets flaky with dual-monitor set ups, which I have. Does anyone know if Apple is aware of this problem and is trying to work a solution? Is there something I can do on my end to coax it into working?
1.I create a new slideshow with any random pictures
2.I click preview or play slideshow and I see a distorted image. basically it looks like two copies of the photo are laid on top of itself on the a triangular portion of the screen.
troubleshooting done so far:
1. I tried exporting to a video file to see if its just my monitor, but the file also displays the same junk image on another monitor.
2. ive turned off all transitions and effects on the slideshow.
3. Also I tried another profile.
iDVD is doing the same thing as well. Any animated dvd menu I choose ends up screw up on my screen. It appears anytime i A. use iphoto to make a slideshow or B. make an IDVD menu the video is corrupted somehow.
I will have to find an ilife disc and try reinstalling, but im thinking it might not be the application's fault.
im not sure what else to try.
This is the first time ive attempted creating a slideshow on this machine so i do not know if it has ever worked before in previous iphoto versions.
note: I would like to fix this problem and not bypass it with another program.
I'm looking for a software solution that will allow me to capture a firewire video and then play simultaneously while still recording it. Then stopping the recording and let it play till the end of capture.
When a video track begins, the iTunes window comes up, even if I've got iTunes hidden. (Note: it doesn't bring the iTunes application to the foreground; it just shows the iTunes window behind my current window.)
Clearly, this is not the behavior I want when it's _hidden_! ...But I can't find any way to stop this behavior
P.S. This is iTunes version 10.6.1(7) on OS 10.7.4. Also, I'm running SizzlingKeys 3.3.5, if that matters (there doesn't seem to be a preference in this app to control window behavior...).
I'm importing 720p HD video from my new digicam, a Panasonic DMC-ZS3. After importing the video into iMovie, the speed of replay is way too fast (2-3x normal speed). I think it may have something to do with the fact that I'm downloading 720p and somehow the progressive scan is confusing iMovie: [URL]
I'm probably going to slap myself for having to ask this, but how do I stop sound effects (deleting files, copying, etc) when I have music playing? It just stutters the actual music playing and makes an annoying sound.
By default aperture wants to import all my photos and MOV files into aperture. By default imovie wants to import all AVCDH lite files from my panasonic LX5 into imovie. I want to import my photos into Aperture and my videos into imovie. Currently I am doing the following:
1. import photos only into aperture by deselecting all MOV files and hitting apply. 2. import MOV files into aperture by deselecting JPGs, selecting a different directory for my movies and hitting apply. 3. in imovie import MOV files directly from hard drive
I wish there was a way to force aperture to only touch raw/jpg and imovie to handle MOV/AVCHD lite.
When I put DVD's into my disk drive, I only hear the sound of the DVD like the commercials and voices and what not, but the screen is completely black. This has happened with every DVD I've tried, including ones I've used before.
I have a vizio hdtv and I have hooked up the video with a hdmi cable adapted to the mini display port and that is working fine but I cannot send sound through it or idk how to. So i bought a optical toslink to mini toslink cable to send audio form the laptop to the tv but the audio still doesn't work. The laptop says that it automatically recognizes it as a digital output.
The output sound is suddenly really quiet. I have to turn it all the way up to hear anything all all sometimes. My iTunes seems fine and my notification sounds work, but playing videos is seriously sketchy (from YouTube, Hulu, Facebook, wherever).
I've got a 15" Macbook Pro OS X 10.8.5 2.2 GHz processor Intel Core i7 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory
I have a macbook and a Samsung 1080p flat screen I would like to connect both Video/Sound too.I purchased Apples VGA cable along with a HDMI cable. The video output works great, no complaints with the video. The issue that I have ran into is sound, I would like to watch videos or listen to music on my Samsung. So here's where I am at currently. I purchased a Griffin Auxiliary cable w/male connectors. I plugged the cable into the both macbook auxiliary ports (1 at a time) and the Samsung auxiliary port. I was never able to get any sound out of the TV. Can this be done with the hardware I currently have? If not, what would I need to fix or purchase that would fix the sound issue?
I'm really starting to get sick of my uMBP 17". This will be the second time that I need a replacement machine. First time I had a faulty logic board and now my right speaker is severely distorted and I'll be taking it into the apple store in about an hour. I never had problems like this with my first gen MBP 17" and I'm sorry to see that Apple quality is going down.
When I use the camera for a video chat, the image I see has shown a variety of distortions; red, green images; horitzontal and vertical lines, and something blue/yellow "checkerboard". Is there something I can do about this?
My gf recently noticed that the battery life was much shorter than before after inspecting her MBP, she saw that the battery was distorted (she has a MBP from the generation before the unibody) of course, a battery is supposed to die one day, but not to be distorted with time, the risk of explosion is huge.
I bought my 15" MBP in late June of 2007. Recently I've noticed that the computer has been running extremely hot, even when just playing a simple youtube video or anything else flash related. The other day I was playing the Sims 2 in Windows through Bootcamp and the graphics became distorted and garbled. I had to hold down the power button until the computer shut off because it was impossible to see or do anything. This has happened a few other times while paying the game.I have had some waking issues where the screen will not come back on after the mac has been asleep. The only way to fix this is to hold down the power button and wait for it to fully turn off, then reboot.
