I just recently installed Windows 7 via bootcamp and I was just wondering if there is a way I can play my music files that are stored on my Mac partition while I'm on windows. I do have MacDrive installed but I still can't seem to play anything.
View 4 RepliesI'm running Win7 x64 RTM, but I had this problem back when I had Vista too. Macdrive reads and writes to my Mac partition just fine, but for some reason I can't run .exe files that are stored there. Windows gives me some crap about 'windows cannot access *file path here*'. Back when I used XP this wasn't a problem, but for some reason Vista and 7 don't want to run .exe's on my mac partition. For now I've been forced to copy the .exe's from their storage on my Mac drive and paste them to my Windows partition before being able to run them.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed Windows 7 with my snow leopard bootcamp on my MBP yesterday and all seems to be running fine and dandy except when Im in windows, I plug in my external hard drive which is formatted to a mac and it makes the noise to show its been plugged in but nothing shows up. I have installed MacDrive on there so I can read HFS formatted disks but the drive just doesnt appear anywhere. I have plugged the same drive into my dell laptop with windows 7 and it appears on there so its not the drive (plus it shows up fine on the mac under SL anyway).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed Windows 7 using bootcamp and now I want music on both my windows and mac OS's. Now I don't want to have two different music folders, I want both OS's to share the same one. So I linked my windows itunes library folder to my Macintosh HD drive and located my user account, then my music folder. It added all the music files and I can play them, and I don't know yet when I add files if it will add them to both the library's. So I was just wondering if this is safe or something? Since they both have different filesystems FAT and NTFS.

I installed all the drivers and everything seems to work perfect besides one thing; I can't connect to the internet with my WiFi. My iPhone has WiFi signal, and if I go back to the mac OS X side, my WiFi has signal. When I'm on windows 7 it doesn't even detect any wireless networks (I have quite a few around the house too.)
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a Snow Leopard and Windows 7 partition. On my Windows 7 partition, I'd like to be able to stream music that I have stored on the OSX one. Is there any way to do this? I'm able to access the files using programs like HFXExplorer, and I'm able to copy music to the Windows partition when I'm on the OSX one, but when I try accessing the OSX partition from the Windows 7 partition, I'm met with empty folders.
Copying all the music is out of the question as there is a great deal of it, for which I just don't have the space for doubles. Is there anyway to simply stream the music from the OSX partition in a music client; winamp specifically?
I have transferred my itunes music on to my external HD. The music is there and that is fine. I then deleted the old itunes folder from my actual HD. I have now wanted to access the music on the external HD, and have attempted to select the new music file location on the external HD via the itunes/preferences/advanced window,selected the new file path and it will just not show in itunes!
View 12 Replies View RelatedMy Win XP box blew last week and we're looking for a computer replacement. Was thinking of iMac higher end i3 21.5" model (due to physical space limitations). This desktop will be used for typical home computer tasks (re: email, internet, minor photos, minor video, minor music, minor web caming, etc. etc.). NO Games - kids have gamining machines for that. If wondering, we have a Windows HP Laptop as well. We use it for portability. Thus, Windows Only applications (like Tax Program) will be used on it. 95% of the time, this desktop is used by my kids - age 9 - 17. Wife does email on it.
For the folks who recently switched from Windows to Apple (re: iMac or MBP), would you do it again?
Note: I've had my fill of Window/Apple comparisons (re Chev vs BMW comparisons). I'm also an MCSE - so I know the Windows platforms better then many. Just want to know if the you'd pick the iMac/MBP platform again?
I have MacBook Pro 13 and I installed lately windows vista ultimate 32bit with bootcamp 2.1, the issue is the mouse pad is too sensitive and fast, even if I move my finger to drag again on the pad it takes it as a double click!

now here is the problem my windows 7 is infected with virus (thats why windows suck big time) and i need to reformat my windows 7 and reinstall a new windows 7.
how am i supposed to do it? insert the installation disk and do like how we initially installed windows 7? just format the partition and reinstall again? i just want to make sure so i ask before doing anything.
or can i do this? i use winclone to restore? any1 have any idea? i'm new to all this i dont know how to do it. i have backup using winclone but how do i do it? do i still need to format then only use winclone?

My iTunes wasn't even on, how is this possible??? No one here but me, so it's not like the keyboard was pressed or anything the music just started playing. It was a random song too, in the middle of one of my albums. First: has anyone ever heard of such a weird thing? Second: is this of concern security wise? Is someone hacked into my machine?

I figure it's the website i am visiting, so i just close the window. It doesn't stop. I have no idea of what is playing now. I close everything but Finder, so nothing is running but that. It is still playing. I have no idea of how to stop it, but to turn of the computer. That's isn't a good long term solution though.

I'll be running it to a mixer first and then to 2 monitors. What will I need to configure on my Powerbook to do this? Or will I be able to just hook up the cables and play music from iTunes? View 2 Replies View RelatedI imported several cd's and tracks into iTunes last night and there were no problems while importing. I was able to listen to my music in the iTunes library up until this evening. When I click on a song, a box pops up saying "Connection Failed: The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name of IP addres and your network connections and try again." So I press "OK" and another box pops up saying "The song "(name)-(artist)" could not be used because the original file could not be found.
Would you like to locate it?" I click on "Yes" and see all my songs listed under iTunes/music but all of the songs I have listed in the library are gray and I cannot click on them. I have checked that I am connected to my home network/internet because I am able to share/listen to my iTunes library located on my Windows desktop as well as browse the internet. The only other thing I could think of doing was downloading the new iTunes 8 which I did, and nothing has changed.
It doesn't matter what I do- It's not the iTunes dashboard widget because I removed it, I turned off the iTunes helper app so it doesn't start up with the computer, and it keeps opening up and playing music for no reason.

However, when I plug my usb into the car's usb connection and try to play music, it works, but every other track is "unavailable". However , there is no "track" there..i.e. if my music folder copied from mac os x 10.5 has 12 songs, the car reads 24 files and file 1 will play song 1, file 2 will be unavailable, file 3 will play song 2 from music folder. My assumption is that Mac OSX is adding in some kind of invisible file or something, but I'm not sure what's going on.

Some problems with iTunes, that appeared currently. When playing music suddenly the rendering stops for several seconds and then it continues without any action from my side. Maybe the problem only shows up when my MacBook comes to the standby mode, but nevertheless, I never had this problem before and it really restricts the possibilities of enjoying music played by iTunes.

I used my mac yesterday and the volume worked just fine. But today I turned it on and there was no sound at all and there is no sound when using the internet or playing music. I can mute and unmute and adjust the volume control up and down but still nothing. I went to system preferences and everything is okay with the sound. I just bought this 2 weeks ago.

I'm running the most current version of iTunes with iTunes Match turned on with my main library on my MacBook Air. About 2 months ago, I decided that since all of my music was in the cloud, I no longer needed to use that space on my MBA (I know, I know...). So fast forward and every time I try and play music in iTunes on my MBA, I get the charming "X song could not be found. WOuld you like iTunes to try and locate it." There is no option to play the music from iCloud on my mac nor is there an option to download the song from the iCloud onto my mac. I have turned on the "iCloud" status column and have almost 5000 songs that are "matched" or "uploaded." Everything I've read leads me to believe that, similar to my iPhone, I should be seeing a cloud with a download arrow in it next to all of those songs. I can see all of my songs and download them just fine to my iphone and ipad. Thoughts? THe goal here is to download everything I have in iTunes Match to my mac, BACK UP those files BEFORE I delete them this time, then re-delete a portion of the ones I don't listen to that often.
