I'm a windows system administrator at heart, and was never trained in OS X Server, and therefore I only know the obvious and what I've picked up.
all connect to an unlimited client Mac Pro as well as a Server 2003 active directory.
My problem is the 30 20" iMac's. When they work they're great, when they don't they're a total pain in the arse.
I find that after using my Early 2011 15" Macbook Pro w/ Lion 10.7.4 for a period of time, my applications do not load/open. I will be working in an application that was previously open, want to open another one (any application) and the application icon will bounce forever in the dock.The program will never open.
I am forced to Force Quit the application. I then try to restart the computer and I get the lovely beachball and the computer never restarts. I have to hold down the power button to turn off and restart the computer.
I have tried the following to resolve this issue:
1. Repaired Permissions (numerous times)
2. Reinstall the 10.7.4 Combo Pack
3. Used Onyx and run all maintenance tasks
I really don't want to have to do a fresh install of everything.

here's the issue, when i open a new tab and go to a website, i then wait for it to load, while it does load, i go onto the other tabs, but then when i go back to the tab that was loading, i get this message/error saying that the website cannot be found etc. as if there is no internet connection. i then click on refresh and it loads up the page just fine. this only happens when i go onto the other websites and don't wait for the new tab to load. why does this happen? it is very frustrating. i already reseted safari numerous times and im still having the same issue.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden every one of my browsers has problems browsing sites, particularly with web-apps. My primary browser has been chrome, with safari as secondary. The problem manifests in Chrome as pages that fail to load. Examples would be gmail and some torrent sites. Other times, I get onto the sites, but when I use a search function, it stops and fails. I've also tried safari (tries for a bit then crashes), firefox (refuses to start now) and Opera. Opera seems to work, somewhat at least.
I've already tried some things - thought it was a plugin problem since it affected all of the browsers so I basically deleted every one I could find and got fresh versions. No dice. In fact, when I throw out the latest Flash plugin, it seems to improve things, then I run into sites requiring flash, so I get it and things stop working. Tried repairing permissions on the hard drive - brings up a bunch of corrections all concerning flash. Tried deleting every browser and installing a fresh copy - no dice either.
Finally tried installing Snow Leopard again - not completely fresh, did preserve my profiles and files and just set up the OS. Since this seems also to affect stuff like taking a time-machine backup. Tried 3x to take a backup, and it stops after 2-3 gigs and becomes really really slow. Also, the whole OS seems to slow down - freezing at times - when I have the browsers going.
I have a Mac OS X 10.6.4 installation on a Macbook Pro 5,1. I use two separate hard drives, one for Windows and the other for Mac. I accidentally switched from Windows to Mac with Windows in sleep mode. When I opened the computer, Windows resumed and BSoD'd. I panicked and forced the computer to shut down. It wouldn't boot into Windows, so I used my Snow Leopard install disk to attempt a repair. It didn't even finish. I tried a repair installation. It wouldn't install with the message "This disk cannot be modified." Disk Utility is telling me to back up and clean install. If there is a way to avoid this, what is it? And I don't have a backup; if there is no way of repairing my installation how do I back up my files?

First I follow the boot camp assistant step by step, and my windows7 disk is connected to my mac.However, after it reboots, my screen turns black and the ''Non system disk, press any key to reboot'' appears.Now there is no respond when i press the keyboard, I have to reboot my mac by holding the power button.I have tried times and times, installing refit, using another disk but still cannot fail.

just trying to get back into Windows 7 after installing it via Boot Camp. Only thing is that holding down the option key during restart does nothing, and although the partition in which Windows 7 is installed under shows up in finder, I am unable to view it in system preferences so that I can boot from it. Any advice?

I copied my disc onto my hard drive when I first installed OS X [made a 10GB partition in DiskUtility] incase I needed the disc and wasn't at home.
Well, I don't have my disc, and won't have access to it for another week. I'm trying to set up a triple boot with OSX, Ubuntu, and W7. Can I load the Snow Leopard install DVD from that partition in my hard drive, while running Windows 7?
I was given Parallels for Christmas (I asked for it...) to install on my new Macbook. I have a windows based cell phone that I wanted to be able to load music, calendar, etc and be able to work it with my Macbook. Curious to know what Windows OS I should get to load in Parallels? I won't be needing anything exotic for my job or anything, just basic Windows functionality. Been so long since I worked with Windows, don't know which would be ideal for me. I have seen 32-bit-/64, Basic, Premium, Windows XP or Vista, etc. Can anybody give me their best recommendation

Then the whole screen turns black and it restarts the computer. I tried putting it in safe mode, and putting it back were the last time it didn't have a problem, but both options just do the same thing as before. I don't want to delete windows.

I cannot use the bootcamp utility to "Load OSX" it wont default into OSX and it won't allow me to log into OSX when i use the option on startup.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhenever I install Parallel on my imac, with leopard it installs fine and the windows Xp install fine and load up fine. But my problem is whenever I shut my mac down, and when I have to turn my mac on again and i click on Parallel the windows will not load up, only loads up when the windows has just been installed, i have no idea why it wont load once i shut down and turn on my imac?
I have installed windows like 5 times already and it always works once it just been installed but if i have to restart my mac, or switch it off and turn it on again the windows through Parallel will not load it just says ''Microsoft windows xp stopped'' and doesn't load atol.
My first Bootcamp partition had a problem with installing my printer drivers, so I decided to just scrap it (i.e. I used disk utility to erase [wrote zeroes] that partition). I then used the Bootcamp assistant to create a new partition, and I installed Windows 7 again on the new partition. I have everything up and running on the new partition, and it works perfectly when I re-start in bootcamp.
However, when I try to load it in Vmware Fusion, it seems to be searching for the old partition. How can I get Vmware to boot up the new partition? Right now it says "No bootable device detected."
I know this is probably a stupid question. I'm about to set up windows 7 on my iMac. I've recently updated to Snow leopard. My question is once I have windows 7 installed do I have to use the snow leopard disk, or the disk that came with my computer to load drivers?

Cannot unload quicktime or get to load new quicktime can not run on windows xp I get error code 2093. Went to open the quicktime exe folder and running as me do not see how to override or check administrator box.

I have a problem where finder (under any condition even after a fresh restart) does not load the folder contents on my computer. Sometimes it loads after multiple restarts but somtimes it doesn't. I cannot browse through files anymore as nothing appears. Nothing also appears on terminal either. Here is a screenshot.

I recently installed the 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate operating system onto my MacBook Pro 13 inch. I have the most basic Macbook Pro 13 inch with nothing fancy added. Whenever I load up the Windows 7 OS on my Macbook, it never utilizes or even realizes that I have the NVIDIA graphics card in my laptop. It instead believes I have some integrated graphics card that cannot even run the most basic of PC games. I know my laptop can run these games because on OSX it runs multiple games with higher requirements than these games I am trying to run on Windows.
Basic question: How do I get bootcamp or whatever else to make Windows 7 realize I have a NVIDIA card and drivers. Sorry if I am coming off as stupid or confusing.
