What does that mean? In disk utility it says I need to repair it. However after I click "Verify Disk" and it spits out their information, it doesnt let me repair the disk still. So, how do i repair the Volume? What is the volume? This isnt a hardware failure is it?

Mar 15, 2010In MS Word on my desktop, I seem to have lost the 'Header and Footer' option under 'View'. I checked my friends Word on his laptop, and it did in fact have it. Both comps have MS Word 2008, and my desktop is a quad core i7. (Also, I have searched the Help menu, and the only thing that comes up is the AutoText version of Header/Footer which is not quite the same - leading me to think that it's actually missing...and yes everything is up to date)
As a student I use this function almost daily and it's extremely frustrating not having it. If you have any tips or ideas please let me know,

OS X :: Mac Mail Inline Attachment Icons - Display In Header
Sep 24, 2009I've been really miffed by Mac Mail's behaviour for adding attachments. When I add seemingly any sort of file into an email message, it sticks an icon of it exactly where my cursor is. This is pretty ridiculous - it messes up my formatting (line spaces etc) and looks silly in the middle of my message.
Is there any way to simply display the attachment icons only in the header of the message? I think Mail Attachments Iconizer is meant to do this, but I'm hoping there's a way within Mail to do this. To clarify I'm not talking about expanding images inline, but the fact that there's an icon of the attachments in the body of my message.

OS X Mavericks :: Why Are Header Icons And Toolbar Buttons Grayed Out
Dec 7, 2014I purchased a used Macbook Pro from ebay. Appeared to be in good working order when I first started working with it, but I have updated from OS X 10.9.2 to 10.9.5 and downloaded Open Office program, set up my mail and went through the system preferences and personalized it. Also ran disk utilities. Then, this AM, when I restarted, the header icons on the right side are grayed out except for the battery %, the date and time and notifications. Also, in mail and safari, the toolbar buttons are blank (forward, back, print, mail, bookmarks, autofil, history and downloads). I went to the disk utility from the recovery partition (repaired disk and disk permissions). I also reset parameters. Don't know what to do next. Not sure if this is a hardware or software problem, but I am assuming it is software (OS X) related at this point.Â

Is it possible to adjust the header/ footer side margins independently from the main body's margins?
I know you can adjust the margins for 'header from top' and 'footer from bottom', but I would like to have my header to go right to the edge of the page instead of remain within the 3cm from edge margins I have set for the main body.
Another question if anyone can help is how can I write in a header say, Mr.Brown on the left hand side and on the same line, but on the right hand side, write the date?

May 18, 2009This may be a ridiculously stupid question, but for the life of me I can't figure out whats wrong!
I'm trying to add a header and footer to my pages document, however I am not able to no matter how hard I try.
I have tried to create a section and make that the footer, and read almost every related article in the help menu.
Also - when I try to insert a section, the selection in the insert menu is grayed out.
I'm not sure if this will help, but my document has no text and is just tables where I need a header and footer for the 11 pages.

I am also using Letterbox. I tried to disable Letterbox, but the choice "Short Message header" is still nowhere to be seen.

Jun 9, 2009I need to figure out how to access the logo image that was included in the second section of the header in a template document in Word 2004. Originally, the template was made to have two pages... with the header on each page unique. Now, the template has been changed to one page. When a document is created based on the template and a second page appears because the length of content is forcing a second page, the header on the 2nd page shows up with the one originally designed for the second page. I'd just like to find where this image is 'stored' in Word so that I can change it to something else. How do I do this?

Jul 2, 2012Disk Warrior reported a damaged resource header that cannot be repaired. The resource header is in an "older" file format (rsrc). I have been having fairly frequent freezes of the system and Disk Utility reporting a corrupted HD which Disk Unility is always able to repair and report the HD to be O.K. Could the damaged header be the cause of the freezes? If so, can anything be done about it if Warrior says it cannot be repaired?

Jun 8, 2012I launched Mail as I ordinarily do. It opened up, but the header bar was grayed out. Finally I managed to open program via Message/Go To/ Inbox, but no messages appeared in any of my mailboxes (even though I had several still in there from today). Nothing is happening, I even can't quit teh mail program.

Windows On Mac :: Get Back Lost Data/lost All Hard Drive Partitions After Windows Update?
Jun 26, 2010I just booted into Windows and saw that there were some Windows Updates available and it asked me to reboot the computer however it failed to boot into Windows. So I restarted and tried to boot into OS X instead, but that didn't work either.
So I put in the OS X install DVD and checked out Disk Utility. Turned out that all my partitions where screwed up. There were 3 partitions listed as Windows_ldm, with incorrect sizes (I had 4 partitions before).
Long story short: I'm now reinstalling OS X and I lost everything I had on the drive, I think. I'll try some restore software once I've gotten OS X installed.
A little pissed right now... How the heck can Windows F up the entire drive?

Apr 24, 2009I am trying to create a resume in pages '08, but the header on the resume template is way too big for my purposes. I would like to shrink it so I can fit ~ 2 more lines of text onto the first page.
I have tried
1. exporting it to word
2. clicking everywhere in on the page
3. shrinking the line spacing between subheaders and sections, but it was not enough.
4. swearing
Is it possible to make the spacing of the header smaller, or am I just sol?
Mac Pro :: Lost F1 And F2 Keys
Nov 18, 2009Sorry, lost as in the brightness funtionality does not work anymore but the keys themselves are working as normal function keys OK. After proving my monitor (24inch LED ACD) and cables are OK I have come here to post the problem. Has anybody else had this problem arise since updating to SL on their Mac Pro or after doing any of the updates ? My other machines have been updated and they are OK. (20inch iMac/13inch Alu Laptop. I cannot place when the problem started because I have using a Samsung monitor over the past weeks. All cables are connected as they should be.

Dec 16, 2010I lost my silly Disk DVD. I have the ones for my iMac, however they don't work. I get the message (you cannot install os x on this computer).
What I want.... this computer is about 2 years old. I want to reformat it to square one. Like brand new. I already backed everything up.
When I called apple, I mentioned I just purchased Snow Leapord.. they said.. no biggy, just install that and it will replace everything back to square one. Well, that didn't work. I still have all my old programs.
