OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mail "All" Header Detail Shows Default View?
May 4, 2012I was going to look at a header today to see where an email came from and found that my "All" selection only shows the default view.
I did check my fonts and deleted 5 that were problems and 30 that were cautions.

Mar 11, 2010I once chose not to display message headers in Mail 4.2 in the menu. Now, I am unable to get them back. I get the long ones, but not the short. How can I restore it? I am also using Letterbox. I tried to disable Letterbox, but the choice "Short Message header" is still nowhere to be seen.

OS X :: Mac Mail Inline Attachment Icons - Display In Header
Sep 24, 2009I've been really miffed by Mac Mail's behaviour for adding attachments. When I add seemingly any sort of file into an email message, it sticks an icon of it exactly where my cursor is. This is pretty ridiculous - it messes up my formatting (line spaces etc) and looks silly in the middle of my message.
Is there any way to simply display the attachment icons only in the header of the message? I think Mail Attachments Iconizer is meant to do this, but I'm hoping there's a way within Mail to do this. To clarify I'm not talking about expanding images inline, but the fact that there's an icon of the attachments in the body of my message.

Jun 8, 2012I launched Mail as I ordinarily do. It opened up, but the header bar was grayed out. Finally I managed to open program via Message/Go To/ Inbox, but no messages appeared in any of my mailboxes (even though I had several still in there from today). Nothing is happening, I even can't quit teh mail program.

ICloud :: Moving Mail Boxes From Mail To IMAP Server Error NUL Character In Message
Mar 18, 2012I am migrating my mail and archive folders from Mail to iCloud. I moved 20+ folders and over 8k messages with no problem by dragging and dropping the folder from 'On my mac' section to 'iCloud' section in Mail. The last two folders were the largest with over 1.5k in each folder. Over 1200 of the messages in each went in to iCloud without a hitch. Then I got this error:
The IMAP command “APPEND” (to [mail box name]) failed with server error: Message contains NUL characters.
There are 149 messages left in one folder and 203 in another folder. Try as I might, it will not work. I tried Rebuild mailbox option in menu and exported to Mail and mbox format and then re-importing. Still does not work.

Apr 11, 2012One IMAP account is intermittently losing all mail in inbox except for one message. After doing opening program the receive wheel spins for a long time, but at this point there are only 170 emails in the inbox because we moved all the rest to the on my mac inbox to try to solve this porblem. There are two accounts, both from the same provider, but one of them takes a long time to receive new mail. The wheel spins for a long time - each time it gets mail.
Several times after finishing receive cycle, all the mail that was in the inbox disappears, except for one. I was able to get the emails to retrn by going into settings>accounts> and changing a random setting and then changing it back the way it was. All settings appear to be correct and match the other other account that is working correctly.

OS X :: Sources Detail Changes To Snow Leopard Installation Process
Aug 12, 2009People familiar with Apple's upcoming Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard operating system are corroborating reports this week that the software has achieved Golden Master status, adding some additional insight on various enhancements and changes that users will notice during the installation process when compared to Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Build 10A432 reportedly went GM a bit earlier this week and is currently on its way to manufacturing, where it will pressed onto optical media ahead of a formal availability date next month. The GM build also began making its way into the hands of some Apple Care support representatives and Apple Technicians on Wednesday.
Some of the changes and enhancements to the Snow Leopard installation process are as follows:
Although Rosetta and Quicktime 7 are both included on the Mac OS X 10.6 installation DVD, both are designated as optional installs by default. However, if Mac OS X 10.6 is being installed on a Mac that contains a registration key for Quicktime 7 Pro, the installer will install Quicktime 7 automatically. Options to "Erase and Install" and "Archive and Install" are no longer present in the Mac OS X 10.6 installer. According to those familiar with the software, this was done for convenience, so that users do not accidentally erase and install their Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard partitions. However, "Erase and Install" remains available through Disk Utility, which is also included on the installation DVD.
If you need to reinstall 10.6, it automatically archives and installs for you. A reinstallation will not affect your Mac OS X version number. In other words, reinstallation of Mac OS X 10.6 on a Mac that contains Mac OS X 10.6.1 (when it becomes available) will not overwrite any new components delivered by 10.6.1. So when the re-install is complete, you will still be running Mac OS X 10.6.1. This will save users considerable time. There is no "Previous System" folder at the root level after reinstalling. If a power outage occurs, installation will pick up from where it left off. To prevent the Blue Screen error that plagued some users when upgrading to Mac OS X 10.5, a software compatibility check is included that has a list of known "bad" apps, and disables them. Those programs are moved to an "Incompatible Software" folder.
Unlike Mac OS X 10.5, you cannot install Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard on computers where the hard drive reports a S.M.A.R.T. failure. Installation initially triggers a large chunk of data to be copied from the installation DVD to the user's primary hard drive. The bulk of the installation is then managed from the hard drive, speeding up the installation process considerably. After a successful installation, that large chunk of data is automatically removed. Mac OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard is priced at $29 for the single user license and $49 for the five-license family pack. The upgrade prices are available for users of the current version of Mac OS X, 10.5 Leopard. Snow Leopard will only be available for Mac users on Intel-based computers.
Also available is Mac OS X Server 10.6 Snow Leopard. Priced at $499, Leopard Server is said to be the most significant improvement to the server operating system since Mac OS X Server was launched. Amazon is also selling box sets with Snow Leopard, featuring the OS, iWork and iLife for $169 and the five-license family pack, iWork and iLife for $229. For more on Apple's upcoming operating system, read AppleInsider's extensive Road to Snow Leopard series. For the sake of completeness, AppleInsider notes that it has heard some rumors that Snow Leopard could be released as early as August 24. However, these anecdotal tips cannot be confirmed with any degree of certainty at this time.

Apr 5, 2012Since updating Safari recently to 5.1.5, if I choose the Mail Link to This Page command, instead of opening Mail.app with a new email with the link pasted in, it launches Google Chrome and, in Chrome, goes to the email login page for Google webmail. If I choose the Mail Contents of This Page command, I get an error message stating: "Safari can't create an email message because Google Chrome.app doesn't support sending webpages from Safari. You can use the Mail application included with Mac OS X to send webpages." Safari is set as my default browser. This behavior started immediately after the 5.1.5 update.I use these commands pretty regularly and, through many version of mail.app and Safari, there has never been a glitch. Any ideas, folks? Or is this a bug introduced by 5.1.5 or some other recent Software Update? (Software updates are completely up to date and on 10.7.3.)

Jul 1, 2010I have an e-mail that I tried to send using Mail 3.6. I accidently selected it to send from an account that has an error with the outgoing mail server. Usually when this happens and the error box pops up I just choose another server. The problem is that the email was going to a whole list of people and the options are lost at the bottom of the screen. I can't access the buttons. I have had this message on my screen now for over a month.

Apr 8, 2012I use iMacs for work. I often send email messages with attachments using Mail. Often, when sending email messages to Windows users (they are out there still), they will reply that they cannot open "the second attachment." The message seems to "pick up" a second apparent attachment, which is generally just a few K in size, and is not part of the original message or attachment. Unfortunately, though, it tricks the recipient into thinking that there are two attachments and the second one is meaningful So then they respond and I have to assure them that the second attachment is irrelevant and can be ignored.

Jul 5, 2012Mail works fine except for one message with a single .docx attachment. All other mail including mail from the same person with other attachments before and after this one has worked fine last few months. This particular one just wouldn't open, not just the attachment, but the text as well. I was able to retrieve the message and attachment directly from the server using a browser connection but that wouldn't have worked for more than a few days as mail automatically is dropped from the server.

Now, when I'm sending one (1) e-mail to one (1) e-mail address, for instance, I'm receiving a strange message under the outgoing mail progress bar (left bottom part of Mail finder window): "Outgoing Mails: 3 out of 3" or similar strange numbers but usually different form the number of recipients.
