I just noticd a '?' at the top of my finder window. when I click on it is says 'item can't be found' yet all my stuff is accessible. It wasn't there before, think it appeared this week...***?

Ever since I upgraded my MacBook Pro to Lion I've noticed a large question mark in the finder window header. There is a smaller one beneath it, and they're both located just to the left of the search window.

I searched the entire internet for this solution. I realize it has been posted but the symptoms were note entirely the same. I have a 1.6 g5. One night it was running awfully slow. I shut it down and didn't touch it for the weekend. When I came home the finder/? Thing flashes. Unlike some of the others, mine never boots and I don't have my discs to run the utility. Does this seem like a hard drive problem or am I looking at apples infamous logic board failure?

I have my mac pro finder screen it has a question mark in the gray bar I can't get rid of it.
I created the problem by downloaded a few hundred screen saver photos. they were a mess.
after weeks of deleting cloning and fixing files. I had everything removed except on the finder bar a little Flag of Israel . I managed to get rid of the little flag but now have a question mark instead. If I click on the mark it says the item can not be found.

Alright, so my uncle just gave me this old iMac, and whenever I start it up, it gives me this error logo of a flashing question mark and finder logo, inside a folder. The question mark and finder logo alternate. Yes, I have checked out the inside, and everything that is supposed to be there is there. I even switched out the hard drive with a working one, so that is not the problem. Yes, I have tried booting from the disc; it never lets me get past this error message. I have included a picture of the iMac, since I'm not exactly sure which model it is. I also don't know whether it's a version of Mac OS X, or 9, or 8, or whatever. Let me know if I missed anything,
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Friend gave me his Old IMac G5 and when I boot it a question mark and the finder folder blinks. My friend says to install OS X because its running on nothing and I have been trying to install. OS X 10.6 but it wont respond to the Disk it just keeps blinking after a while it starts making this. Loud noise as if its running something, the furthest I've got it to a blue screen with a replay icon button. Towards the left and an arrow button pointing right but cant do anything after that, I don't know what to do. My other problem is the I have the latest wireless keyboard and wireless magic mouse so I cant connect them thru wifi until I have my imac running so im using a normal Dell Keyboard....

I have an account in Mail.app that won't let me do anything to the e-mails coming into it. I can't delete e-mails, I can't mark them as read, and if I try to move an e-mail to another mailbox, it's copied, not moved.I've tried repairing disk permissions, and I've tried to remove the account and then adding it again ? but the problem persists. "Rebuild" in the Mailbox menu is inactive when this mailbox is selected, but works on my other accounts.The same account works fine on my iPhone; mails are getting marked as read and I can delete and move e-mails around. What does that mean? In disk utility it says I need to repair it. However after I click "Verify Disk" and it spits out their information, it doesnt let me repair the disk still. So, how do i repair the Volume? What is the volume? This isnt a hardware failure is it?

In MS Word on my desktop, I seem to have lost the 'Header and Footer' option under 'View'. I checked my friends Word on his laptop, and it did in fact have it. Both comps have MS Word 2008, and my desktop is a quad core i7. (Also, I have searched the Help menu, and the only thing that comes up is the AutoText version of Header/Footer which is not quite the same - leading me to think that it's actually missing...and yes everything is up to date)
As a student I use this function almost daily and it's extremely frustrating not having it. If you have any tips or ideas please let me know,

I've been really miffed by Mac Mail's behaviour for adding attachments. When I add seemingly any sort of file into an email message, it sticks an icon of it exactly where my cursor is. This is pretty ridiculous - it messes up my formatting (line spaces etc) and looks silly in the middle of my message.
Is there any way to simply display the attachment icons only in the header of the message? I think Mail Attachments Iconizer is meant to do this, but I'm hoping there's a way within Mail to do this. To clarify I'm not talking about expanding images inline, but the fact that there's an icon of the attachments in the body of my message.
Suddenly only the From, Subject, and Date line is showing in Mail 5.2.
How do I get the To line to display?

I purchased a used Macbook Pro from ebay. Appeared to be in good working order when I first started working with it, but I have updated from OS X 10.9.2 to 10.9.5 and downloaded Open Office program, set up my mail and went through the system preferences and personalized it. Also ran disk utilities. Then, this AM, when I restarted, the header icons on the right side are grayed out except for the battery %, the date and time and notifications. Also, in mail and safari, the toolbar buttons are blank (forward, back, print, mail, bookmarks, autofil, history and downloads). I went to the disk utility from the recovery partition (repaired disk and disk permissions). I also reset parameters. Don't know what to do next. Not sure if this is a hardware or software problem, but I am assuming it is software (OS X) related at this point.Â

Is it possible to adjust the header/ footer side margins independently from the main body's margins?
I know you can adjust the margins for 'header from top' and 'footer from bottom', but I would like to have my header to go right to the edge of the page instead of remain within the 3cm from edge margins I have set for the main body.
Another question if anyone can help is how can I write in a header say, Mr.Brown on the left hand side and on the same line, but on the right hand side, write the date?

I'm trying to add a header and footer to my pages document, however I am not able to no matter how hard I try.
I have tried to create a section and make that the footer, and read almost every related article in the help menu.
Also - when I try to insert a section, the selection in the insert menu is grayed out.
I'm not sure if this will help, but my document has no text and is just tables where I need a header and footer for the 11 pages.
I once chose not to display message headers in Mail 4.2 in the menu. Now, I am unable to get them back. I get the long ones, but not the short. How can I restore it? I am also using Letterbox. I tried to disable Letterbox, but the choice "Short Message header" is still nowhere to be seen.
