I am having a problem with text formatting in Mail. Apparently I have inadvertently changed the "style" - the lines of text are very close together. I need to increase the spacing How can I change the line spacing? In Mail; If I go to Format, Style, Styles, it brings up a box with 'Default' in it but no way to change Font, Alignment, Spacing.

I'm editing a book in which the author switched programs and from PC to Mac in mid-stream, so the styling of the footnotes is not consistent. The text of the book is now in NeoOffice, and I've been asked to bring all the footnotes in accord with each other. I wondered whether there is a command that will change them so they all are in the same typeface and size. (I know that by setting up a Footnote style, all new footnotes will be correct, but I'm talking about ones that already exist). The author hasn't yet finished with the book, or I'd just get her to give me a chapter or two at a time and change them manually. Time is too short for us to wait till the end, when she has done all her revisions. I guess you get the picture. If there is no way to do this, please just tell me. If you know of one, though, I'd be grateful. Hoping that this is clear. It's gotten rather late! By the way, I'm working on a MacBook (not Pro) 13" with OS 10.5 and NeoOffice 3.1.1.

And really, it's not the same as disabling styles because some things are still controlled by the styles while the whole structure seems off. I tried reinstalling, which did nothing. Not every page renders incorrectly (google.com is fine), but most do (youtube, hulu, apple.com, etc).

You cannot for instance delete or even copy it. Is there a way to copy the content (not style) of the selected text formatted to a particular style? If not, is there anyway that apple script could be used to do a similar thing?

While both are good applications for plotting simple graphs with 3 or less curves in each graph, I run out of line styles and color when I try to plot many curves on the same graph. The situation is worsen when it is required that all the curves be in black and white. Do you know of good applications (freeware and commercial) that allow can provide nice looking graphs with lots of choices of line styles?

Don't say Library/Application Support/Motion/Library/Text Styles because it isn't true. I've checked over and over. Everyone that answered this question was a year ago.
Oh yeah. Motion is FUBAR when saving styles. I will save the first one. Create another style and try to save that and it saves my previous style over and over and over. I just blew off hours saving styles for a project and only the first one work, every other style is a duplicate of the first one I set. You should have an exact preview or something like that before it is saved. This entire process should be like Photoshop. I should be able to save a style palette for a customer in a file and reuse that rather than cluttering my styles folder with legacy information. You have this feature on the color palette, why not Motion and all other apps?
And Apple, it would be so cool if the finder had a mode that allowed searching under the hood, as it were. When files are saved in Libraries and you can't search there it is a huge time waster. Jobs used to brag about plug-and-play. This is more like hunt-and-peck. Don't give me some crap about the command line interface, I want an easy way to find files.
MS has added many styles to default worksheet in 2011. Previous versions I could create my own default workbook and put it in the Startup folder for Excel. That does not work in 2011. Anyone able to tell me how to use my former default sheet in 2011 (don't want to Template feature)? I am talking about the sheet created when you start Excel.

I use Mail.app on my macbook. I have about 4 different email accounts, (2 for different employers, 1 for freelance work, and 1 personal) plus I'm in a couple of high traffic newsgroups.
All gets downloaded to Mail.app via POP access.
The newsgroup and junk emails get filtered out into their respective folders.
Other mail is filtered into other folders. Some gets to my inbox.
I want the non-newsgroup / junk mail to auto-sync with my iphone.
That means :
Appearing in the same folder in my iPhone and on my laptop
Reading mail on one device will mark it as read on the other.
Email sent from one device will appear in the sent folder on the other.
So it seems I need to change from POP to iMAP, but I'm not quite sure how to set it all up to deal with my 4 accounts and various folders. In Mail.app I have about 30 rules for filtering.
Do i need 4 different IMAP accounts?
I changed my Internet Service Provider from Sky Broadband to Virgin Media.
The Internet is working fine, but I cannot receive email. I have two hotmail accounts, they are called "hotmail.co.uk" and "hotmail.co.uk 2" the first one is working again after I went into Connection Doctor, but the other one is saying "Trying to log in to this SMTP account failed. Verify that the username and password are correct"
I checked the settings in the Preferences menu and these all look OK, so I can't work out why it's not working. I even tried adding it as a new account but it tells me that the email address is already set up.

I have three e-mail accounts. They duly appear in the Mail sidebar. I have dragged them into the order in which I want them, with the one I almost always use at the top and my college one (which I prefer only to use for college business) at the bottom. But quite often they — spontaneously, it seems — move around and put themselves into an order that I do not like, with the result that I accidentally send messages from the wrong e-mail address. Why do they do this, and how can I stop them and fix them in place?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to change back to the Apple Mail.app 3.5 from Microsoft Entourage and I can't seem to achieve this. I am afraid my Entourage will crash soon because my Database is currently 10.2 GB large. I had to switch 2 years ago from Mail to Entourage, after I lost all my mails because the Mail.app was corrupted. I have had a change of computer although I did migrate my data and was hoping that the mail.app was working better but it is doing strange things like importing folders with no content - although it marks them with the amount of mails located within. It also refuses to import (admittedly) large amounts of mails from Entourage, it doesn't matter if it is just a single folder or several folders. It hoards some old mails in its INBOX which remain there even after I have erased them numerous times. They just keep coming back.
When I use the import option of the mail.app it will not take over all my mails but will save parts of the database or crash when I try to feed it mBox files. I realise my databases are very large but there must be some way to import data from one programme to another. I think somehow my mail.app is broken or it can't handle the huge Entourage database, is there some way I can discover whether this might be the case? I am starting to think I should stick to Entourage because it has been performing faithfully for the past years and I like the appearance more, but because I had database issues under Entourage 2004, I'm afraid my huge database will someday become irreparable. I have a 2.4 Ghz Macbook Pro, 2GB Dram, System 10.5.6, Entourage 2008 and of course the mail.app which I've had to reinstall (with Pacifist) and fix with the new Apple Mail Update that was issued on DEC 23, 2008 (which is supposed to solve stability issues).
I accidentally set up an email account using IMAP.I meant to use POP.I have deleted the account and have attempted to set the account up again but it now automatically uses IMAP and does not give me the option to chose POP.Using a brand new Imac using as my macbook just died. Latest software etc.

How do i permanently change the Name Field in the "Mail, contacts, calendars" setup.
I press details to enter my own but each time i do the name field is over-written with a previous owner or user of the mac.
Until this is complete i cannot sync contacts and calendars as i want to, using OS X Mountain LIon.
I've read some threads but none truly answer my question. I have learnt I need to create a rule in CLOUD as mail is sent to all devices from there and if I create the rule in MAIL on my desktop it does not solve the issue as it will still get sent to other devices, correct?
I want to create a rule for junk. Ever changing junk email addresses, content etc. Sometime mail recognies it and sometimes not. How can I set up a rule, filter, etc to delete these permamnently . Its hard when the sender address is ever changing, or the content is never the same. IE one day it is from weatherx@

When using mail.app on a MacBook and sending a message, the folder "Sent" changes temporarily to "Sending ..." and displays a spinning progress wheel, and eventually it changes back to "Sent" once I hear the "whoosh" indicating the mail successfully went out. However, when using Mail.app on a PowerBook G4 and sending a message, the "Sent" folder does not change at all, although I'll hear the "whoosh" sound when the message ultimately gets sent out. Is there a way to fix this? I know one can use the separate "Activity Viewer" window, but that's not convenient.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble with my Apple Mail program. I have a number of e-mail accounts (some with Optimum online, a g-mail, yahoo, etc.) Apple Mail has no problem at all reading and downloading any mail from any of the services. My problem is with Optimum Mail (Optonline.net). Mail refuses to send anything through that set-up. I've been on the phone for hours with Optimum and the settings are all correct. I've tried connecting directly to the cable modem and mail gets sent. This would make me believe that it is the Apple Airport Extreme router that is at fault. I've tried restarting it, re-initializing it and setting it up again and the problem continues. All my Optimum mail is picked up and can be read but it will not send anything through Optimum. It asks if I want to send it through another server (like g-mail or yahoo) and if I pick yes the mail sends.
It happens on all my computers a G-3 and pre Intel iMac G-5 on Tiger and my Macbook on Leopard.
Anyone else hear of this problem? Both Apple support and Optimum online say they have never heard of it. Talking for hours with their tech departments have found no solutions.
