Safari :: Keep Getting "certificate Expired" Errors

Mar 14, 2012

I'm running 10.6.8 on an Intel dual quad-core mac, 2.6ghz, tons of RAM.  Latest version of Safari.  And I am constantly getting that drop-down error message (at completely legitimate sites like Facebook, MSNBC, Amazon, etc) that says "certificate may be expired, do you want to cancel/continue/trust" - and I have no idea why.  It's happening with Firefox and Chrome as well, but I really prefer to stick with Safari if possible.

Date on my Mac is set properly, so that can't be the issue.  Security settings are at the Mac's default. I've tried emptying the cache and clearing history, reinstalling safari & its latest updates - nothing fixes the problem.  The same thing is happening on my Macbook Pro (which connects to the wifi), so I'm convinced that it's an errant software setting somewhere in Safari or my network settings.

Safari :: Suddenly Getting Certificate Authentication Errors?

Feb 2, 2012

The last few weeks I'm suddenly getting tons of "Warning: the certificate isn't valid" error messages when I go to sites on Safari. Normal sites: Facebook, Chase bank, amazon -- nothing suspect or out of the ordinary.  I haven't downloaded anything suspect, virus scans reveal no issues, no viruses... is this problem something inherent to the latest update of Safari?  Or, is there a setting I need to change - a box I need to tick - to make this stop happening?  It's so constant now that I can barely use Safari because every new URL generates authentication messages.

Software :: Safari Look In Multiple Keychains For Login Credentials Safari Doesn't Use My Certificate

Jul 25, 2008

I was wondering if it was possible to tell Safari to look in multiple or different keychains for login credentials. I have x509 certificates that I want to put in a different keychain from the default "login" one, but when I surf to a webpage that requires that certificate, Safari doesn't seem to want to use it.

Safari :: Getting A Lot Of Unknown Certificate Notices In It

Jun 14, 2012

In the last month, I've been getting "unknown certificate" notices from Safari. I don't see anything wrong with the certificate details, but I'm not sure what to look for. The notices tell me that without the certificate, I won't know if it is a trusted site: the purpose of the certificates I guess. None of the notices were from first time sites. i.e. I was going there on purpose, not through any links, etc. What's up? Should I be concerned? How do I detect if I SHOULD be concerned by information in the details of the certificate?

Safari :: 'Cannot Verify Certificate Of Server'

Jun 25, 2012

1. Very recently I keep getting the message 'Cannot verify certificate of server' on a great number of webpages on my mac, including this apple site.   This has been around the time of getting an iPhone, perhaps a coincidence?    I have never seen this message before.  I press 'continue' however it's getting a bit annoying.

2.  Also, since getting this message my facebook page cannot load properly on safari (mac).  It comes up mis-aligned on the page, in times new roman font,   with no colour or logos/images.  This is around the time of changing the password of my facebook account via my iPhone, again, not sure if this is a coincidence. I'm on snow leopard 10.6.8.

Ever since YouTube has updated their video page, I keep on getting these "Old Flash - Go Upgrade!" error messages. I have re-installed Flash twice and I'm still getting the problem... however, just refreshing the page seems to work - but is getting very annoying.

I'm using Safari 4, anyone else having this problem?

MacBook Pro :: Keep Getting SSL Errors On Google Chrome And Safari?

Aug 30, 2014

Every time I try to connect to any social media websites and a few others, I experience one of a few things. The first being an SSL error. This happens on Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and even Google. The second is an SSL error again, BUT I can proceed anyway, which brings me to the third issue. I get onto the website but all the graphics on the website are gone and I get something looking like the image below. Time and date are correct.

Software :: Safari And Firefox Errors Loading Links Within Pages?

May 31, 2010

I am running MAC OSX 10.6.3 and are having the following issues

About a Week ago I noticed I was having issues on certain web pages with opening links within the page. Example: A webpage im having a lot of errors on is Gunbroker.com If I click "add to my watch list" safari just sits there and does not open the page. Same for Firefox. Other links on the page work fine. I tried this site and others on my other macbook and it works just fine. Random links within webpages seem not to work.

I have tried to reset safari, clear caches, verify permissions and fix errors on Disk Utility still no fix. I also reinstalled firefox just not safari because of my favorites.

Any Ideas? If this has already been discussed please let me know I will try to find a thread. I did do a search but could not really find much pertaining to this issue.

ITunes For Mac :: ICloud Session Has Expired

Dec 7, 2014

At some point some months ago, I started getting the message.  I just need it to go away. I'm not doing anything with the iCloud, I don't care about it.  I just want to listen to my iTunes in peace.

A previous respondant to an earlier thread about this problem on devices with Safari said they fixed the problem by going into iTunes and "unsubscribing or deactivating" the "iTunes in the Cloud" option; but I don't have that option when I go to my settings.  I can see the "iTunes in the Cloud" section; but my only option given there is "Manage Devices", which leads me to a screen where my only option is to sever the connection between my APPLE ID and my iPhone, which I don't want to do.  And for the record, I don't have iTunes Match, and have no interest in it.

I have tried removing it as well as reference to it in receipts and library-preferences, but when I reinstall I get the same message. I downloaded another trial code, but it still tells me that it is expired. Where does mac store this information, or what other file do i need to remove to actually use to 30 day trial.

Hardware :: BootCamp Expired - Merge / Erase XP Partition Back?

Jan 7, 2008

I have XP installed in my Intel Macbook Pro in the separate partition created by boot camp. Recently while I was running on XP the computer crashed badly and XP system seemed to have been damaged and I can't boot as XP anymore. I would like to simply erase the XP partition and merge it with the main drive. But the problem is that Boot Camp got expired and I can't use the application to do that. Can anyone tell me how I can do that?? I am guessing that Disk Utility would be the one to use but I want to make sure I know what I am doing before I screw up anything.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Certificate Warnings Since Mac OS 10.7.4?

Jun 5, 2012

Since I updated my MBP to Mac OS 10.7.4 (from 10.7.3) I'm getting certificate warnings in Safari on every SSL/HTTPS connection. The screenshot below taken when accessing the Apple discussion boards shows the detailed warning (translation: "Safari cannot verify the websites' identity", red text: "The issuer of the certificate is invalid"). Note the expiry date of the certificate is 01/06/2013. I can avoid this warnings when turning OCSP and CRL of in Keychain -> Preferences -> Certificates which actually not a solution for the problem. Especially because the warings appear again after some time. This happens on my MBP when being connected to our company's LAN. We are using a proxy server running Squid3 on Ubuntu for internet access. The proxy server is configured to deliver a .pac file for auto-configuration.

The problem occurs since Mac OS 10.7.4 so I believe something has changed in the way Mac OS gets notified of invalid certificates. This change doesn't work behind (at least) our proxy server. My iMac at home is running Mac OS 10.7.4 without these issues, another MBP from a colleague encounters the same issues. I know about the difference between CRL and OCSP but I don't see a way to force Mac OS to use the former setting (whatever that was).

Software :: Mac OS Not Prompting For Network Certificate

Sep 17, 2010

I'm not able to connect to my network, and I'm stock. I'm not a MAC user generally. So I'll try to explain to you briefly what I've been trying to do. No command line stuff! Switching my computer on shows me that I have 3 networks available, I tried to connect to the one I want, it prompted me for the username and password, and kept the authentication option as Auto. Clicking enter doesn't do anything! It should have prompted up for the certificate to install. I checked to see if I have the certificate previously installed using the keychain utility and there wasn't anything there. I even deleted the login key, but its still showing an error in Safari "you are not connected to the internet".

MacBook Pro :: Websites Not Encrypted - Can't Recognize Certificate

Sep 3, 2010

Are any of you having this problem? Yesterday I installed the most recent patch from Apple in my Macbook Pro, cant remember the number of it, sorry about that. Today I noticed a serious fault in my computer. When Im trying to access any website that is supposed to be encrypted (ie. Paypal, banks, etc) they arent encrypted or are only partially encrypted. I am pretty sure that this wasnt happening before. I havent installed any software recently and everything was working fine until yesterday, the day I installed the security update. So I guess its not a coincidence. When I try it on Firefox the websites are not encrypted and when I try it on Safari I get a warning from Safari saying that it cant recognise the certificate or that is invalid. Any of you have experienced this?

Intel Mac :: Why Can't Renew Apple-care Plan After The Initial Plan Has Expired

Feb 2, 2012

Bought my IMac a year ago, got the applecare plan and am good until 2014; however, it would be great if I could renew my applecare plan after the initial plan. or just before, the plan expires. The applecare staff is great to deal with, but it's a nice feeling to know that I can access them after the first 3 yrs. of ownership. I bought my IMac with the knowledge that I wouldn't need to upgrade my hardware as often as I did with a PC, and although I understand I can still recieve assistance on a case by case basis, it would be easier, and more cost effective, to have the option of extending my plan if I choose to. Just a thought. and am hoping that Apple will listen and offer something for its customers like this. Am an owner of the IMac, and IPad2, Ipod touch and will be buying an IPhone 5 when they are released.
