Both Firefox and Chrome let you search within the displayed webpage by just starting typing ("find as you type").
This bypasses the added step of having to to do CMD-F, as Safari requires.Â
Is there an available extension that will add this functionality? I miss it....

I like to command click for a new window and recently Safari started opening new pages that I command click UNDER the front main window. The preferences say it should be on top but it does not open that way. how to get this opening correctly again?Â

Since a while for some reason safari decides to reload all my tabs open in the browser. A sandball pops up and the webpages I am currently working in turns blank. When I switch to another opened tab this one turns also blank and reloads. This is pretty annoying and consumes a lot of time. How can I overcome this problem? My system is a MacBook Pro early 2011, OS X lion with all updates.

After my Yosemite upgrade, Safari has become very unstable. Constantly shutting down current screen(s) and or just sitting there loading a page until I get a "Safari Cannot Load Page" error due to servers not being found. Even on the Apple website this happens. Very frustrating when doing online banking and all info is lost when you have this issue happening upon an entry.Â

I'm running Safari 5.1.4, and Mail 5.2 on a system running OS 10.7.3. I am trying to send a link to a page from safari using CMD+SHIFT+I. When I attempt to do that, I receive a message that Safari cannot find an email application. I checked Mail's preferences, and it is listed as the default mail application. How to get Safari to find Mail?

I seem to be having a hell of a time with all google related things. About 50% of the time I can't get to the google search page and get the error message Safari can't open the page [URL] because Safari can't connect to the server. When I am able to get into gmail, I am constantly being disconnected from gchat, like every 5 minutes. When it disconnects, it will try to reconnect, most of the time unsuccessfully. I then get the error message, unable to reach gmail please check your internet connection. This happens no matter what browser I use. However, when I try to connect from my husband's PC (same network), everything is fine. I've tried emptying my safari cache, tried uninstalling and re-installing both safari and firefox, and I am out of ideas. Any ideas about what is going on, and how I might fix this issue. I searched through the google help, and there were similar problems posted (none recently), but no answers on how to solve the issue. This has been going on for about a week now, and it's driving me up a wall.

I know people say not to use the same pass for different things but I can't afford to remember ten different passes. So, is there a way to find out your mac's current admin pass without actually knowing it? Can I just boot the comp up in single-user and type some funky command to do this? I signed out of Safari then signed in again. Now the bookmarks for the AT&T - Yahoo page do not display on the page. Other bookmarks are intact. Do I have to reload them?

I see print or crop size but nothing to select Premium Photo Paper or Matt or any selection at all. I also don't see Quality selection or Preview beforee printing. I had all these things on my PC with Photoshop Elements. How does it work on Mac?

using my white macbook, everytime i fire up safari it opens the last webpage that i visited, eg facebook or the login page of my bank account.
i have checked in preferences pane - ensured that the new windows and new tabs open with "homepage" and set the homepage field to [URL]( i even manually typed it in and selected "set to current page" to make sure it was ok ). then i go onto facebook, quit safari, re-open it and .. it's the facebook page again!Â

Before I had a 9c84 panel, went to System Preferences> Displays> Color> OPen Profile. Before (This was when I was running Leopard) I went down to 13 and found the panel type.
Now I get 'aagg' 'para' 32 parametric tone response curve on that line. Underneath in the description device manufacturer and device model are blank.
With latest update, current url no longer appears in Url bar in Safari.

I am trying to move material created in earlier iWeb (08?) to an FTP server. It is now saved as a web archive. I also have been on mobileme. I am on snow leopard and am not quite ready for lion. I can't seem to find an iweb page in the web archive. To follow the instructions from my new web host I need to have the iweb page that lsts the site name. How can I find this from the web archive? Otherwise I seem to find the content of my iweb-created blog when I open the web archive (in Safari).

View 4 Replies View RelatedThroughout today Safari has been constantly crashing. It will just shut down and I will get the "safari has encountered an error" message. Just to get to MacRumors and type this, it has crashed 3 times. On the error screen, I've selected to repair settings, did almost everything there is to do in OnyX (repair permissions and all safari settings), and checked for updates. I'm feeling really annoyed here as 80% of my computer usage is the internet, and not being able to get to a site without Safari crashing is just not cutting it. I'm using FireFox for now, but would rather be back on Safari.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn Safari 5, I've noticed that in the address bar, when you type "wiki" and then something after it, it'll search Wikipedia for that particular item. Is there any way via extensions, or something along those lines, to make it work similarly with other "keywords" or what have you? Chrome essentially works this way with any search engine you like, and it's literally the only reason I'm still on Chrome rather than Safari full-time. And before anyone mentions it, I know about Glims. But I don't just want multiple engines in the search bar; I really like the utility of just typing in the address bar.

So I was using Safari this afternoon, even though I usually use Firefox or Chrome. It crashed again on me and a box appeared that said it may be due to the WCIDEngine Plugin? When I read the problem details to send to Apple, it said "EXC_BAD_ACCESS for exception type, and then for exception codes it said "KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at (some numbers I'm not copying over). Worse yet, it reminded me that I've had 7 crashes since last report. I'm getting awfully tired of this crap. I run a PC that's on Windows 7 and it runs like a charm. I am seriously thinking about going back to it because I got my Mini with the expectation that it would work and most of the time it does, but it's little repetitive things like this that make me question it. I will add that I scrolled down the problem details list and it said that "Thread 0 Crashed" and then proceeded to list a number of things about symantec, like .com/symantec.WCIDEngine".
