View 2 RepliesThe address or go-to tine disappeared from Safari on my Mini. Everything else is there, can link from my bookmarks and from Google, but can't type in new addresses, there's no place for them. I tried downloading a new version of Safari, but it does the same thing. My backup browser, Firefox is unaffected.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSafari now only display my bookmark bar and nothing else. I thought it could be recent extensions installed but I've turned extensions of and its still only showing the bookmark bar.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy address bar and google search box are missing. I X'ed out of safari, rebooted, ran my cursor over the top edge of the screen, clicked on everything on my toolbar, and searched everything. I can't type in a web address to go anywhere
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was in the middle of adding new contacts and two very strange things happened.
1) After adding the second to last contact, I clicked on "All" to start dragging contacts into a new group and there were all these blank address cards in amongst my regular addresses - as if I had accidentally held down apple N and created a whole bunch of new cards inadvertently - but I had not done this - I was adding people one by one - all morning and it had been going just fine.
2) I still had a couple contacts to add so I thought, well I'll just fill in one of these blank cards - don't know where they came from, maybe I did something, so I better just use them - BIG MISTAKE - poof! Address Book is now gone - completely empty and in Mail, all my address history is also gone.
I clicked undo till I couldn't und anymore and although it said 'undoing new entry', undoing x, undoing y - nothing was really changing - everything was still gone.
Apple freak BF then fiddled and fiddled and after half and hour found the meta data files with all kinds of gobbledy gook numbers and letters in the prefix but can't get them back into Address Book to open...
Why has this happened - it felt like some sort of viral attack but I though macs don't get those - what other weird stuff is going on in there and can I prevent this weirdness from corrupting other programs - mail? calendar? Is that possible or silly? And of course most importantly can I get my addresses back?
My Address Book contacts have disappeared twice; moreover, I can't seem to find them on Time Machine so that I can restore them. Is anyone else having this problem, and 1. how do I get my contacts back, and 2. how do I prevent this happening again?

So, is it possible for the address bar "top hit" or "history" to recognize part of a web address if you don't start with it?
For example.
In firefox, when I start typing macrumors, I get forums.macrumors, macrumors....
I opened my safari today and when I was about to type the website that I want to go to I couldn't find the space where you type it at.. I don't know what happened?

When I click on the Safari icon in the dock the Safari tool bar opens at the top of my screen but the Top Sites screen does not display. Likewise, if I click on a link in History or Bookmarks, the wepage does not display on the screen. I think the sites are opening because I opened a link with audio and the audio plays OK, but no web page displays.

Yesterday afternoon I opened up safari and found it looked somewhat naked. My bookmark bar was missing. I went into preferances, and it was still checked. I unchecked it, and checked it again. Quit safari.
Restarted. Nothing seems to get it back. An ideas as to what happened, or how I can fix it?
Download Box disappeared from my tool bar and I can no longer download documents

I have been using the 'Reading List' as a default Bookmark list as I find it more accessible than the old Bookmark system in Safari. After recently updating Safari my reading list has developed a bug. Firstly my entire list had disappeared (most annoying and inconvenient as I began rely on the list for my continuing study of important references in relation to my business) but I strangely I do get a multiple entry of my last used item. In fact the last time I opened up the list I had about ten duplications of the same bookmark. A recent example is below. My other references (which incidentally, courtesy of iCloud appear on my iPhone bookmarks) have disappeared.

I made a misstake. I was testing out parental controls and it prompted me to create an administrator account and put my account under parental controls. When I did that and applied restrictions to my account i set it so that only accepted sites (ones allowed by the administerator and in the bookmarks bar) could be visit.Â
After a few days I went back and deled the administrator and got rid of parental controls but now all my bookmarks and folders are gone.Â
Is there a way I can get all my bookmarks back? (I don't have a time machine hooked up, but I am running OSX 10.7 Lion)

After difficult migration from old Mac Book to Mac Book Pro 13 iCloud image site doesn't appear anymore on my Safari opening page (topsites)
It is not so important because the link already function when I click in the black page. But disturbing. All over pages in topsites have their image right there.

After the last update required for Safari the icon desappeared and now there's a question mark in the same place. What happened?

View 5 Replies View RelatedEver since I updated to 5, my address bar has been autofilling the title of the page I go to, for instance: Say I have been to Zappos and looked at a pair of converse, the title at the top of the window will say something like "Converse shoe etc." Well then say I've looked on [URL] at something before, and I want to go there again. If I start typing "converse" into the address bar, it wants to autfill the "Converse shoe etc." title and take me to the Zappos page instead of [URL] Is there a way to disable this? I liked it the way it was before, If im typing something in the address bar I only want ti to guess urls, not page titles.

When I launch safari 5.1 (Mac Lion) today, I found address bar missing. I clicked "Show toolbar" selected at the top of the View menu, and then "customize toolbar", no response. ( https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3632452?start=0&tstart=0 ) I remove all extentions and disable all plug-ins, and click "customize toolbar", no response.I clicked "reset safari", no way ! I unstall safari, and then reinstall safari 5.1, the problem is the same .
