Every time I close Word my toolbars disappear. When I launch and go to View, Toolbars it shows them selected but they don't show on page. I have to uncheck and recheck to get them to appear again.

This just recently started to happen. Safari and Mail disappear everytime I quit the applications and I have to relaunch from launchpad. I have the checked the option "keep in the Dock".Â
I am running Mac OS X version 10.7.4 on an iMac7,1 and have been for a while. Â
I can't seem to find any current information in the Apple Discussion Forums. Probable something really simple for a really annoying occurance.Â

Have a PC hooked up to a Pioneer plasma here, and it's basically used to loop trailers in my video-store. The PC is running Windows 2003, and I thought iTunes is probably perfect for this as all the trailers I use are the 720p ones from Apple's servers. So I connect to the PC with VNC (no mouse or keyboard attached), start up iTunes, start the playlist with the videos and they start running fullscreen. But whenever I close the VNC connection the video window disappears from the Pioneer and I just get the desktop + iTunes. The videos are still running though, as the sound is playing and iTunes say they're running, but the video is completely gone.
View 2 Replies View Relatedwhat the difference is between the commands 'close window' and 'close all windows'? They seem to me to both have the same effect. In my earlier version of Safari, if I opened a new web page, it just replaced the earlier one, now though the new pages just keep accumulating. T

My dock and menu disappear only when I am using Safari. They re-appear when I hover my mouse at the location that they should be at, but for some reason their default positions are to be hidden. The dock and menu are present for all other apps and when I'm on the desktop--basically whenever Safari isn't "chosen" as the active window. I have checked to make sure that Safari is NOT in Full Screen mode.

About a week ago after shutting down the night before and restarting the next morning I noticed about 100 of my bookmarks (saved over the years) had vanished from Safari (5.1.7) / OS X Lion. I replaced bookmarks.plist from Time Machine which brought them back but they disappear again once I add any new bookmark. I've emptied cache, reset Safari and no joy. The added trouble now is I have to keep adding bookmarks every day so now I need to preserve the new ones but still get the old ones back.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI restarting my computer after it crashed and now the book marks bar that appears above tabs has vanished? I've gone into preferences and made sure all the approperiate boxes are ticked and they are. Niether my top sites and reading list icons are there either? It's also doing funny things like a email wont open if I double click on it plus I'm sure I'll find more strange happenings as I go along. Is there a way you can set it back to the defuals like doing a system restore in windows?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter a clean OS X install (Snow Lpd updated to Lion) and all system updates, I have imported my old bookmarks (html created by Safari just couple of days back). After import they appear on the left panel as Imported xx.xx.2012.After relaunching Safari 5.1.7, the folder is gone. More than that, Safari won't retain any webpage bookmarked, they would all disappear when I quit (or relaunch) Safari.I have trashed the com.apple. Safari. plist file a few time already and emptied the trash, repaired disk permissions, but problem persists.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having some issues with my Macbook Pro that just arose today. Randomly, when I'm on Safari, the screen will flash a little and the icons at the bottom will disappear. They will come back in a couple seconds and pop-ups that I usually only get when I first log on will appear. Safari also refreshes the page I was viewing. I did a little research and thought the issue might be google drive, but I do not have it installed on my Mac.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMost programs in OS X stay open when you close them (when you click the red X button) unless you specifically close them from the dock. I think Safari 3 used to have this functionality but now when I close Safari, it "quits" as in all my open tabs are closed. However Safari stays open.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy copy of Safari keeps resetting every time I close it. I lose bookmarks, history and extensions. This started in Leopard. It keeps giving me the copy I get after a fresh install of Safari, with the default bookmark tabs, every time i open it.
I deleted Safari using AppCleaner, then I reinstalled Safari after downloading it from Apple, both before and after the upgrade to Snow Leopard, all the way to 10.6.4. I have fixed and repaired permissions. Completely baffled. Only extension I use is clicktoFlash. Happens even if no extension installed. Examined plist file, keeps defaulting to the copy on first install.
I find Firefox too slow and Chrome still needs work. I loved Safari until this started happening. Just want it to keep my bookmarks and tabs after each open.
Nine times out of ten, when I wake my Imac from sleep, I get a notification that Safari stopped my shut-down (?) and then a second one asking if I'm sure I want to close the open Safari windows. Also, if Itunes was open when I put the machine to sleep, it's almost always closed when I wake it up.

This is not a crash, as I get no message. Every time I am done browsing, I close the window, and when I want to reopen a window, I have to relaunch Safari. Usually, the screensaver has started when I come back to my computer, but it has happened while my computer was active also.

You can close or dismiss tabs in Safari with the X on the tab until you get to the last one. How can I dismiss the content there and get a blank page, similar to the way Safari in iOS 5 works.
