Dec 4, 2014I shut down my computer and when I turned it on I tried to launch Safari. I got the following message. The application Safari can't be opened. I checked the application in Finder, but could discover anything since it again couldn't launch therefore I couldn't access system preferences. My internet connection is fine. My software is completely up to date. Yosemite 10.10.1.

Apr 16, 2012When I opened safari my homepage was apple and it opened using the middle of the display with the desktop screensaver visable on both sides of the page now it opens adn takes up the whole screen I don't know how to resize it and save it where it will open to the same all the time. I'm a very new owner of an IMAC and to apple so I'm completely in the dark to mac systems and just stumbling around. I'm a 70 year old guy that's ben drug into the 21 century and trying to keep up (not very good )

Mar 12, 2012Then I tried to connect my IPAD and IPHONE and neither would update because it couldnt find the file or something and then i couldnt even restore.The next day itunes was gone completely: "The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (13014)" And then the next day ie today there is NO DOCK, NO BACKGROUND and NO DESKTOP ICONS! I had to open safari from the top bar that was only there because I have one random application called Garmin ANT that remained open (i never use this application, its a running computer watch thing)

Jun 17, 2012Tried to turn off computer and it kept prompting me to force quite various applications. I have since restarted the computer but now am getting this error when trying to open Finder. I have looked through several discussions and unfortunately am not an apple expert so much of what I am reading is foreign to me.I have opened the Terminal and entered a prompt that made all of my desktop docs and finder visable, but as soon as I closed out the Terminal it all disappeared again.Can anyone point me in the right direction - step by step - to get Finder back up and running.To my knowledge all other applications seem to be working as normal.FYI I do have a few extermal items attached to the Mac. (1) extermanl hard drive for the Time Machine, and USB drive.

Feb 8, 2012I am using Lion 10.7 , I assigned dreamweaver to desktop1 by choose Options > This Desktop when in desktop1. Then relaunch DW and it correctly opened in desktop 1. Now if i open a file using in finder (which is itself assigned to desktop3) on a file that is default to DW then Dreamweaver moves itself to Desktop3.
I thought the point was that we could assign different applications to different spaces and they would stay that way. Are we saying that if a file is opened from finder its default application will be moved and set up of spaces does not apply ?.

App Store :: Deleted Mac Certificates - Application Damaged And Cannot Be Opened
May 24, 2012I messed around with my certificates in the keychain, because I have troubles with it in xCode. The problem is, I accidentally deleted also certificates for the Mac App Store. Now every app from the Mac App Store says:
"[name]" is damaged and can't be opened.
Delete "[name]" and download it again from the App Store.
Which certificates, keys etc. Do I need and where can I get it? (I have a second Mac activated for the Mac App Store but no backup for this Mac.)

Sep 9, 2009Has anybody been having problems with Safari's new Top Sites feature? I've had Safari 4 since the day it came out on public beta, and this feature hasn't seemed to get any better. I seriously dread having to open a new tab, because it automatically opens the awful top sites list. I close my eyes and cross my fingers and pray that I don't get the beachball of death for anywhere from 10-20 seconds. Sometimes it works quickly, especially if I keep testing it over and over. It pretty much just displays a visual of the bookmarks that I already have displayed going across the top of my screen, and I usually just click on the bookmark instead of having to hunt down the page and click on it.

May 17, 2012Ok so if I have everything closed I can see the date and time on the upper right and everything else like normal. If I open up any other program like itunes I can see the date and time like normal. However as soon as I open up safari the date and time disapears. If I switch between safari and any open program like itunes the time reappears. Same thing if I have safari open and click on the desktop it brings up finder and the time shows again. Not sure if this has anything to do with it but when Im in safari I cant open any of the menus on top (file, edit, view, history, etc.). Ive tried clicking on them and using the shortcut keys and nothing works. I can still use safari fine other than that. This all started after the last system update I had a few days ago. Ive triend resetting my computer and shutting it down but nothing seems to help.

Safari :: Started Blanking - Opened Tabs Go White
Jun 19, 2012Several months ago, Safari started blanking. I'll have several tabs open and they'll all go white and when I click on one it reloads and I go to the next one and it's white. I go back to the first one and it is white. Sometimes I get a page reforce load message. I have cleared cache. I have restarted. It doesn't happen all the time but seems to happen in the evenings more than at other times. I have Qwest/Century Link high speed dsl. This is so totally irritating.
I have also noticed that when I click on a link that tries to play a youtube video or if I go to youtube, I have to wait awhile for the video to play - it starts and restarts several times before it actually works. I watched the activity monitor and the Safari Web content process will go from 11 up to around 140 while this is happening and when it drops back down is when the video will actually play with no problem. This can take up to several minutes. It's like a car spinning it's wheels trying to get traction.

Mar 20, 2012I may have 2 or 3 Tabs open and decided to open another, example Amazon. I start to look around and 'say' I want to find a CD cover to make a copy of to paste onto something, I find said CD and then all of a sudden nothing works, no hyper links, zero. The only way I can them to work again is to copy the present page I am on, open a new Tab, paste the link in and all works again? But the not the original Tab. Plus if I try the 'ctrl _ T/pad' to open the options you then get (to then copy subject for one) nothing, yet I tried this in Google Chrome just to test and see if that works and it does. As I was even writing this everything suddenly stop, could not even 'highlight' some of the text and copy (cmd + C) .........
