I'm new to MacBook Pro (life long PC user) and need help with Safari.
Problem Description:
Safari closes right after opening, error message states that thread 3 crashed. Below is the error message:

It won't open, at all, I've deleted every plist associated with iTunes, the cache, everything. It will only open if I do it manually through Terminal and that isn't perfect in my opinion. I have also downloaded it twice and installed it twice, same thing happens. They've pulled iTunes 10 from the download page.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI updated from snowleopard to lion (10.7.3) and corresponding latest itunes version. My itunes library is on a Qnap Nas TSs 109-II. It has got latest available firmware 3.3.2 Build 0918T. I mount the NAS volumes with the following script:Â

I can access the volumes using e.g. finder fine. Files open up and can be saved. iphoto also works from volumen media. Only itunes crashes a few seconds after being opened "unexpected end". I have searched and tried a lot. No success.Â

My mac mail application crashes right when it is opened. Currently I only have my iCloud email and my Gmail being used in Mail. I have narrowed it down to Gmail because it does not crash once that account is removed.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a MAC V10.9.4 and my FCPX 10.0.8 crashes every time I open it and lasts about 10 seconds. I am making a video reel so there are a lot of different types of videos in it and chopped up into smaller scenes to create a collage of my achievements. Now halfway through, I can't complete it because it keeps crashing and it super annoying because I have a few days to complete. Â

When I opened safari my homepage was apple and it opened using the middle of the display with the desktop screensaver visable on both sides of the page now it opens adn takes up the whole screen I don't know how to resize it and save it where it will open to the same all the time. I'm a very new owner of an IMAC and to apple so I'm completely in the dark to mac systems and just stumbling around. I'm a 70 year old guy that's ben drug into the 21 century and trying to keep up (not very good )

I was importing some photos into Aperture when my battery unexpectedly died (that's a separate issue). I started the computer (a black MacBook) up again and opened Aperture only to have it be momentarily unresponsive followed endlessly by the rainbow spinning ball. Force quitting and restarting gives more of the same.
Any ideas on how I can make Aperture usable again? It's quite important to me.
For what it's worth, I'm running Aperture 2.1.4
I have an extensive collection of fonts (60,0000+). Several hundred of them will crash my system when I open one of them in Finder (double-click the suitcase). I picked one at random for some serious examination. I looked at my sample with many font tools. My latest tool was FontDoctor (v5 and v7). FontDoctor reported "no problems found" with my font. Yet the crash persists. Any tool that can do a thorough job of investigating and repairing my corrupt fonts.

Has anybody been having problems with Safari's new Top Sites feature? I've had Safari 4 since the day it came out on public beta, and this feature hasn't seemed to get any better. I seriously dread having to open a new tab, because it automatically opens the awful top sites list. I close my eyes and cross my fingers and pray that I don't get the beachball of death for anywhere from 10-20 seconds. Sometimes it works quickly, especially if I keep testing it over and over. It pretty much just displays a visual of the bookmarks that I already have displayed going across the top of my screen, and I usually just click on the bookmark instead of having to hunt down the page and click on it.

Ok so if I have everything closed I can see the date and time on the upper right and everything else like normal. If I open up any other program like itunes I can see the date and time like normal. However as soon as I open up safari the date and time disapears. If I switch between safari and any open program like itunes the time reappears. Same thing if I have safari open and click on the desktop it brings up finder and the time shows again. Not sure if this has anything to do with it but when Im in safari I cant open any of the menus on top (file, edit, view, history, etc.). Ive tried clicking on them and using the shortcut keys and nothing works. I can still use safari fine other than that. This all started after the last system update I had a few days ago. Ive triend resetting my computer and shutting it down but nothing seems to help.

Suddenly, I cant get windows to come up when I open safari. I reset safari, emptied cache, repaired permissions and zapped the PRAM.

I shut down my computer and when I turned it on I tried to launch Safari. I got the following message. The application Safari can't be opened. I checked the application in Finder, but could discover anything since it again couldn't launch therefore I couldn't access system preferences. My internet connection is fine. Several months ago, Safari started blanking. I'll have several tabs open and they'll all go white and when I click on one it reloads and I go to the next one and it's white. I go back to the first one and it is white. Sometimes I get a page reforce load message. I have cleared cache. I have restarted. It doesn't happen all the time but seems to happen in the evenings more than at other times. I have Qwest/Century Link high speed dsl. This is so totally irritating.
I have also noticed that when I click on a link that tries to play a youtube video or if I go to youtube, I have to wait awhile for the video to play - it starts and restarts several times before it actually works. I watched the activity monitor and the Safari Web content process will go from 11 up to around 140 while this is happening and when it drops back down is when the video will actually play with no problem. This can take up to several minutes. It's like a car spinning it's wheels trying to get traction.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI may have 2 or 3 Tabs open and decided to open another, example Amazon. I start to look around and 'say' I want to find a CD cover to make a copy of to paste onto something, I find said CD and then all of a sudden nothing works, no hyper links, zero. The only way I can them to work again is to copy the present page I am on, open a new Tab, paste the link in and all works again? But the not the original Tab. Plus if I try the 'ctrl _ T/pad' to open the options you then get (to then copy subject for one) nothing, yet I tried this in Google Chrome just to test and see if that works and it does. As I was even writing this everything suddenly stop, could not even 'highlight' some of the text and copy (cmd + C) .........

I'm afraid I'm new to Mac's and I've not had any luck finding what I'm after using the search function. My wife's macbook has recently completed a download and install of the latest Safari (4) and now every time we connect to the net it stays connected for about 10 seconds and then crashes. I receive a message window saying safari quit unexpectedly and offers me options to close, report or reopen safari. I'm useless at diagnosing problems.
