I am not able to open the Safari from the bar at the bottom, I get a message saying that Safari quit unexpectedly & it instructs me to Reopen but when I click on the button the same message appears. I have also been unable to open PDF documents & wonder if this is related to downloading the Lion OS?
My OS is 10.9.3 and I've only had it for a month or so. Â
I'll be on Firefox or the desktop and without touching the mouse or keyboard or anything 'var' appears highlighted in yellow at the bottom left corner of my screen and a speech bubble will define it. The definition matches the one for 'var' in the built-in dictionary but I very rarely use it and have not had it open while this has happened.Â
It happens about once a week and the word defined has been different 1 or 2 times but mostly its just 'var'. The Macbook also freezes occasionally or has periods of very slow loading; something which never happened with my old Mac White. Do I have a virus or something?
The cover flow in safari only displays bottom half of the window, see the picture below, However, those pages that can not be previewed show in full height of the window:
I'm having some issues with my Macbook Pro that just arose today. Randomly, when I'm on Safari, the screen will flash a little and the icons at the bottom will disappear. They will come back in a couple seconds and pop-ups that I usually only get when I first log on will appear. Safari also refreshes the page I was viewing. I did a little research and thought the issue might be google drive, but I do not have it installed on my Mac.
I put off doing the software update on Safari... I just HAD a feeling something would go wrong and I didn't have time to mess with it if it did.
So today I ran and update. And it messed up.
Now Safari will "open"... it looks like it is open and I have access to all the menus. But a Safari window will not open.
I am surprised that I haven't seen others with this problem. I have tried deleting the cache and deleting the preferences file. Neither seem to have made ANY difference.
I'm at a loss as to what to do. And I am feeling like I'm missing a body part. I need my Safari back!
What is the problem between Safari 5.1.7 and hotmail? I can't quit safari while the hotmail window is open. I can close Safari from all other websites.
Info:Mac OS X (10.7.2), Same OS on my iMac and MacBookPro
Images always print cut-off or otherwise unformatted when I print from safari. I have to save the image, open with preview, and print. Can I somehow make safari use preview to open images? No menu options I can see.Â
I cannot open PDF files through Safari. I've read some of the other comments on the same/similar issue and I have tried those steps and have been unsuccessful. I still cannot view PDF files through Safari, in fact, the Preview doesn't even open. When it worked the preview icon would pop up in the tool bar at the bottom of my Mac Book, but it no longer does that. Here is what I've tried; Upgrading my Adobe, even though I know you don't need it for Mac. Removed Adobe from applications and deleted.  Went to Library and internet plug ins and there is nothing in that folder.  Went to internet preferences and un clicked enable plug ins. Â
i was browsing the net today and a please restart your computer message popped up. i assumed it was because of my coolbook voltages being to low so i restarted it and bumped the settings up. but when i tried using safari again it would not open. a blank page would apprear and that multicolored wheel just keeps spinning. i force quit and try opening it again. same thing. any ideas what i can do before i uninstall my coolbook and take it to the apple store.
Most programs in OS X stay open when you close them (when you click the red X button) unless you specifically close them from the dock. I think Safari 3 used to have this functionality but now when I close Safari, it "quits" as in all my open tabs are closed. However Safari stays open.
I have a Windows Desktop PC, Windows Laptop and an iMac plus Macbook Pro, on the desktop pc Safari will not open [URL], yet on my Windows Laptop it will! Both are the same version of Safari, I have uninstalled and re installed Safari with no joy.
Does anyone know how to do a clean uninstall of Safari on Windows, because I think that may solve it.
If I quit Safari with a single or multiple pages open, the next time I open Safari all the pages come back, the pages that were open when I quit the application.Even though in preferences I have a homepage selected it doesn't seem to matter.
Info:MacBook Pro (15-inch Late 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.3)
This has been since the most recent update 10.7.3.The pages just hang but chrome and firefox work perfectly. Not sure if this is connected but the macbook also feels as thouhg its getting hotter than usual and uses more power.
I have fixed this problem in previous versions of Safari, where it won't open a pdf file, but I can't remember how I did it. I know I deleted the quicktime file from somewhere.
I did the latest upgrade last week... now when I try to open safari a problem report box comes up " safari quit unexpectedly click reopen to open the application again. this report will be sent to apple automatically." when i click reopen the box dissapears and comes back . if i click okay it just closes the box. Am I going to have to delete safari and reinstall it? I hate having to use firefox.
when safari is opened it does not open with homepage but whatever last open page when safari closed. can set homepage in preferences, but it does not open to that page when starting safari.have tried shutdown and reboot, but still opens to last open page rather than homepage.
upgraded to lion recently. suddenly today safari won't launch. all other apps look good.activity monitor shows about 2.34 gb free of memory, disk verify was good. any thoughts
I just purchased a series of piano lessons. I was told they are downloadable to a Mac.i am new to all this.I downloaded the files and they all have the extension .exe. Problem is if I open them all I see is gibberish. how to i open an exe file in Safari?
The Icon for Safari in my Doc has a large question mark ? over the icon. I cannot open Safari this way. I opened a document I downloaded and got on the internet that way. The internet is working fine.Â
I recently updated to Lion. So far the only thing that really annoys me is that every time I open Safari it opens to the last page(s) I visited. I want it to open to a blank page. For the life of me - I cannot figure out how to get it to do this.
Safari 5.1.5 will not open at all - the dropdown menus are greyed out. My OS is Lion 10.7.3 - (iMac). I cannot download and install an earlier version and Mac won't let me get rid of Safari 5.1.5.
