When you share (mail) an .aif file with Quicktime Pro, why does it become a .mov file when it arrives? I asked a friend of mine not to send .mov files when he wants me to listen to a song .aif format. I told him to check the preferences, he says all is set right.

Just paid for a movie on iTunes, (The Great Escape), but it won't play on my iMac or transfer to my iPad... what gives? When I try to play the movie I get error: "This movie requires QuickTime, which is not supported by this version of iTunes."When I try to move it to my iPad I get the error: "The Great Escape (1963)" was not copied to the iPad (My iPad) because it cannot be played on this iPad." I have iTunes 10.6.1 (7) 64-bit on a brand new iMac 2.7 Ghz Intel Core i5 with OSX 10.7.4. I'm a little ticked that I can't see a movie I just paid $9.99 for.Â

Through some scripting mishap, I accidentally ended up with two copies of everything in my iTunes library. One was in lossless format, the other in AAC. I just went through and deleted all the AACs by hand. I'm worried that I might have accidentally deleted a lossless copy though, in stead of the AAC copy. Is there a way I can search through the trash (via terminal presumably) to make sure there are no lossless files in there? It'd be so easy if they didn't have the same extension.

Lately I have received quite a few e-mails with various attachments that seem to require something other than quicktime to open. In most cases i get a message that says "Quicktime unable to read format" or words to that effect. Just wondering what other downloads there are out there that enable you to read more of the different formats.
View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know of any *free* applications that will convert QuickTime video to a Windows friendly format. One of the insurance companies I do work with will not let their adjusters install any other software on their laptops and they are PC's. I frequently send them videos so I will need to convert them. I will pay, if necessary, for a program that will accomplish this but I was hoping there might be something out there that is free.

My OSX is Lion, (10.7.4) but the Quicktime support for MPEG-2 format is missing. When I look in the Quicktime system library there is QuicktimeMPEG.component & QuicktimeMPEG4.component, but no QuicktimeMPEG2.component. So, I presume its not there. How do I fix this? Do I have to re-install something? I had Quicktime 10.1 on my system, but have now also installed Quicktime 7.6.6. I need to work with some MPEG-2 videos & convert them to MPEG-4 format. I gather I can do this with MPEG Streamclip, but not if MPEG-2 support is missing!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recorded a lot of videos with my Samsung HD video cam. I chose 1280x720 H.264 as video format. When I want to watch the videos on my mac (Snow Leopard, Quicktime Player 10) the height of the videos is too low. According to Quicktime the format is H.264, 1280 x 720 , 16.7m colors with 50 fps, but the current size is 1388 x 440 pixels. How can I watch my videos with the real size of 1280 x 720 pixels? Up to now I need another video player, e.g. VLC.
