View 1 Replies View RelatedMy friend just got a 1.25GHz MDD but he says he is having problems with it. He says that when he starts it up, his mouse light (sensor) flickers and the keyboard does not work. The only way to fix this is to unplug and replug in the peripherals. He also tried on his Studio Display connected via ADC and the same thing happens. Could a PCI USB card help his problems or is there some way to fix the current USB ports?
View 1 Replies View RelatedTonight I came into my office and my PowerBook was sleeping. I have an external display and I usually turn my display on and wiggle the mouse (after I turn that on) and nothing happened. I looked and my display was still in standby mode, my wacom and eye tv had the same behavior. The powerbook light stopped blinking (I heard the drive wake) and then nothing. Nothing happened still. I opened the lid, hit the power button and still nothing. Held it down, and nothing. I ended up having to take the battery out and then I started the machine. Since then I've rebooted twice just for fun and since then the below screenshot shows that the "Jessica's Computer" window keeps popping up.
Two questions:
#1 What could have happened or what does it mean when the powerbook is sleeping, then wakes but never really wakes and just shuts off?
#2 What is up with that window opening as though this is some sort of start up program you'd find in windows?
Specs: Powerbook 1.67 ghz second to last rev...rev D I think. 1.5 gig ram. os 10.4.7
I unplugged my PowerBook and the screen and backlit keyboard dimmed and then brightened back up. Was there a power surge inside my PowerBook?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI used to just closed my Mac instead of pressing the shutdown button; I tried this time but I cannot shut it down anymore, also my keyboard cannot control the volume or turn on the keyboard-light. Also I remember there is like a back-up shortcut (or something like that don't know what is it exactly named) consisting of three keyboard button.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I press the F8 button, the level indicator comes up, but there's a "not allowed" symbol as well (the circle with the diagonal line through it). This is the same when I press the F9 and F10 buttons - it comes up, but also the "not allowed" symbol

How to fix this?
I'm using a 13" 2010 MBP
on January 2012 I bought a new macbook pro for about a month now my keyboard has been having problems as in some days it will work and some days the icon will have an x through it when i try lighting up the keyboard. I really don't know why this is happening and how I can get this fixed

So I am a guy who enjoys a nice ambience.
So i have my lights dim most of the time, so basically my keyboard is always lit up.
I've recently noticed that my MPB Keyboard's light won't turn off automatically. I've checked System Performances > Keyboard, it should turn off after 5 seconds. but it doesn't do that.
Info:MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Magic Mouse, and airport express
Since I've installed yosemite on my Macbook Pro, when starting up my keyboard doesn't light up. After I type in my password then the keyboard lights up. Prior to yosemite as soon as the area for typing in my password came up my keyboard was lit so I could see the keys in the low morning light just to sign on.

After working fine for a few weeks, the keyboard backlight suddenly doesn't work anymore. When I press F6 (more light) I get the on screen box, but it won't go up beyond 0 and a circle with a line through it is displayed below the indicator/status.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering if my backlight was LED. I wonder how much it will dim over the next couple of years and if keeping it turned down will make it's ability to go bright, when needed last longer. I sometimes turn it up all the way to illuminate the keyboard when typing in low light.

View 20 Replies View RelatedI've had my Apple bluetooth keyboard for over a year now, but two days ago I started having some problems with it. Whenever I turn it on, the green light is on for like a second and then it's off, but nothing happens after that (it's supposed to blink a couple times before it connects). I tried changing batteries and everything I could think of, but haven't figured out a way to get it to work again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIve had a 13" macbook pro since July and im pretty sure it's the newest version. Not once has the keyboard lit up, i didn't even know that the keys lit up on macbook pros until i saw my friend's do it. do some macbook pros not have keyboard back lights or is mine just messed up?
View 5 Replies View RelatedNot sure if I'm going mad - but the keyboard light seems to work different on these new Macbook Pro's..
On the old model I thought the light came on when you pressed a key on the keyboard. But on the new model the light only comes on when you press a key AND you are in a dark room..
The lights are on both the keyboard and the mouse. My internet connection is working. But neither the keyboard or mouse will make contact with the computer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo a friend spilled some liquids on his new macbook pro 13 5,5.Unibody The keyboard no longer worked, the hd was fried, so he gave it to me and switched to PC's . I replaced the HD, and connected an external keyboard.
Luckily nothing else was effected and it powered up. What I find strange is that the back light still works although NONE of the keys do. The power button and the trackpad still work as well.
I have accepted that I have to purchase a costly top case, but could i not just replace the keys?

Everything works except the right click(2 fingers) and keyboard light. I remember when I installed Xp on my MacBook; there was bootcamp assistant or setting in xp but I dun see it in the MacBook pro.As for the keyboard light, I tried to turn off the room light but it's still not working.

View 2 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I knocked over my tea on my new MacBook Pro. (I bought it less that 2 months ago.) I quickly soaked it up, blew a lot out with compressed air, and turned it upside down to let it dry. When I turned it back on I noticed a few keys were sticking. I did my research and one suggestion said to put a drop of water and/or alcohol on the key and just work with it. I know this may sound stupid, but I felt more comfortable with this than to start trying to remove keys. I dried it again and everything seems to be in working order.
All the keys work, and as far as I can tell the internal is okay (unless the sugar/tea is slowly eating away at it, which just makes me sick to think about). The right side of my keyboard, where my tea was spilt, doesn't light up as bright as the left. Is that because I damaged the light, or the tea stained the keys a different color. Does this mean I'm going to have to remove keys to get it clean anyways? Or should I just count my blessings, ignore it, and never drink near my Mac again?
[URL] Will this prevent my 2.4 Alu macbook keyboard light from showing? i searched the site but couldnt find the answer.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I've recently purchased the new 13" MBP, and to my understanding, there is a light sensor that turns up the brightness of the backlit keyboard and screen when in dark environments.
However, the problem with my MBP is that when I turn on the lights in my room, the screen brightness and backlit keyboard both turn brighter, and when I turn off the lights, the screen and keyboard grow dimmer, which is exactly the opposite of what is supposed to happen.
I have 'Illuminate Keyboard in Low Light Conditions' Checked in system preferences and the keyboard is still lit up when the room is fully lit? Wouldn't only light up when the room is dark? I'm pressing keys and its always lighting up? its probably not even an issue and I'm over thinking it?
