View 2 RepliesI have 'Illuminate Keyboard in Low Light Conditions' Checked in system preferences and the keyboard is still lit up when the room is fully lit? Wouldn't only light up when the room is dark? I'm pressing keys and its always lighting up? its probably not even an issue and I'm over thinking it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI started up iTunes, checked my email, and looked up to see the top half of my display drop about 15 shades darker than the bottom half! I called Apple Care who told me they had never heard of something like this before and advised me to call the nearest Apple Store. I did, and like Apple Care, they had never heard of this happening.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI have a MacBook Pro 2.4GHz from last Fall (not the new Unibody) that has a keyboard and trackpad that freezes, meaning it becomes totally unresponsive, with no warning for no reason. Either I carry an external keyboard and mouse, or, my only recourse is to hold the power button down and restart the machine. When it reboots, sometimes the keyboard works and sometimes it does not. If other folks have had or are having this problem, would you please step up and say so? I'm tired of Apple support people telling me they have never seen this problem when there are so many others who have written to the forum with the same or similar issues.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI went yesterday evening to the Apple store in Georgetown as I happened to be near by and checked out the new Airs. The keyboard letters look reflective bu the keyboard also looked somehow cheaper (which I guess it is truly). Tough to test the usability in the dark in the store, I tried to hover over it with my jacket (must have looked pretty stupid) but it is not a real live test. So for you who had a backlit keyboard before

System:
-Macbook Pro Retina 13' (Mid 2014) 256GB SSD, i5, 8Gig RAM
-Yosemite (10.10)
I tried to install Windows 8.1 using bootcamp assistant on Yosemite. After installing Windows 8.1, it asked me to restart.
When I restarted it stuck on blank screen. I've heard the startup noise but nothing happened. I tried many startup key combinations such as; Command(Alt), cmd+R,cmd+V,T, but the screen is always blank. Although the screen light is, on the screen is totally blank.
I did resetting SMC, and also I did cmd+alt+P+R (I've heard 4 times startup sound) but the screen is always blank. Nothing happens. I can only shut down by pressing the power button for 4 seconds. As a result when I power on, I hear the sound but nothing happens. Nothing on the screen.
What I did before was: The system is a brand new mac. I bought it 1 week ago.
1- I tried to install windows 8.1 using bootcamp. But failed. Because windows installer gave me an error that windows can not be installed on GPT partition.(I have also MacBook Air and MacMini with bootcamp Windows 8.1 working fine.)
2- Then I rebooted using Alt key then booted to MacOSX and deleted the windows part and many combinations. But failed. The error was always the same GPT error.
3- I reinstalled Yosemite tried all the steps but failed with the same error (GPT error)
4- We had another same macbook pro. And we could install windows 8.1 easily.
5- I compared the two machines in windows setup. The problematic mac had first partition labelled EFI.
6- Then after a few hours. I tried to install again. And saw that the EFI label was gone!. But I don't know how this is happened.
7- I was happy and started to install windows. After installing the system gone!!.

are there any apps that can do this without having to go into a complex video editor?
My family shoots alot of video, often in low light, with a digital still camera, & they came back with dark footage that they want me to immediately burn to a blank DVD to play on a DVD player, they are impatient & do not want to wait for me to go through a complex video editing process, & I do not either, I do not enjoy video editing.
The movie files are .mpg & .mov formats.
I would like a way to do this with just the raw movie files without having to encode & author them in a video editor. AS before for emphasis, I do not like the laborious process of video editing.
I used to just closed my Mac instead of pressing the shutdown button; I tried this time but I cannot shut it down anymore, also my keyboard cannot control the volume or turn on the keyboard-light. Also I remember there is like a back-up shortcut (or something like that don't know what is it exactly named) consisting of three keyboard button.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI love my 11.6" Air but the lack of a backlit keyboard is killing me. And why on earth are the freaking letters on the keys dark grey? If Apple released a new Air next month with an i3 or i5 ULV or Sandy Bridge ULV and a backlit keyboard I would feel compelled upgrade even at ridiculous cost to myself. Is there a real reason why there are no backlit keys on the Air? Is Apple just forcing me to upgrade to the next model when released?
Just not sure how it went down. They are in a clean room. Looking at the Air. Seems like someone would have said, "thing would really benefit with a backlit kayboard" and that somebody else would have said "yeah, we are Apple, leaders in design" and then Jobs would chime in, "Damn straight. Make it so." Where did it breakdown?
I tried to use some software to test the display. I found when the screen goes to completely dark with the backlight on, the bottom side of my screen is brighter than other parts.... have u guys met any problem like that, or is this some problem with my MBA?
I have a problem with my MacBook screen. Everytime I try to turn on the MacBook, the blue screen appears for a second and then everything gets dark (but I can see that the computer turned on normally, it's just the screen that gets almost black, without light). Sometimes only the right side of the screen is blue and then gets dark just like the left one. I was looking for the problem and I perceived that the left side seems to be loose and I can't fix it. What should I do?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a late 2006 Macbook, and my dad has an early 2009 Macbook. I was comparing the two today and noticed that there was a significant difference between their LCDs. My dad's Macbook has a lighter, more normal display. While mine has a yellow tint to it and is darker. Both computers were on the same display profiles and both had the same brightness set.
Is this just how LCDs are as they age? Or is mine really not supposed to have that yellow tint? The new Macbook is on the right in the pic.
i have a mbp from 2007 and it seems my screen has grown quite dark! anyone else have this problem? what does one do?
It also has some "splotches" a patch or two of discoloring.
I have a prob with my MBP and wondered if anyone had an idea what the problem is?
Today the screen just goes black.. when i turn the backlight up and down i can see some difference but no picture on screen.
The mac book is still on and music playing.
Late Model 2010 Macbook pro, opening screen from closed position allows the screen to turn on as normal, but two seconds later, goes to complete black. Temporary fix includes hitting F1 to lower brightenss (if the screen was at full brightness) or F1 or F2 (if screen was not at full brightness) changing this brightness level brings back screen to full brightness -1. this problem seems to be pretty prevelent and related to the nvidia card ro something simialr. are there any known fixes? will apple acknowlege this. this just started happening to me a week or so ago but i've seen articles are far back as early 2011 with the same symptoms.

My MacBook has suddenly gone dark. It charges fine and the battery lights show there's charge. The screen is very dark when powered up? When I turn the brightness down fully, then go to turn it up the screen lights up for a second then goes again?
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy MacBook Pro's screen has been going black recently, sometimes is pops back up and sometimes I have to shut down and reboot. But while the screen is dark the computer seems to be functioning (music still playing, sounds from touching keys randomly in the dark) I recently upgraded to Yosemite - coincidence or is my 6-year old Macbook just getting on in years?

My MacBook is from 2007, so it is old and has its problems. When I turned it on one day, it was all normal, and randomly the screen got so dark, it looked like the computer had shut down on me. I knew it was still turned on though because the little light was indicating that it was on and it was still making the cd drive/booting up sounds.
After a while, I noticed that the screen just went very very dim, because I could still slightly see the webpage I was on. Turning up the brightness of the screen did nothing, same with restarting the computer.
Sometimes the screen would come back to the normal brightness, until I would go to do something on the internet and it would go very dark again. It's so unpredictable, I don't even want to deal with it anymore.
I just bought the latest and greatest 15 inch Macbook Pro with Retina Display in mid-2014. Every once in awhile, my screen will go dark. When I hit the touch pad, the cursor will show up and will move, on a completely black background. At that point I panic and start depressing the touch pad, when that doesn't work, I try depressing the on/off key; which does not respond at first, but finally the screen returns to normal.? NOTE: My operating system is OSX 10.9.4.

The new Macbook pro 17" seems to have a very dark display. I was in two Apple stores in, one in NYC and the other in Whiteplains and both stores had the new machines displayed. The screens were substantially darker than the 15.4" LED version. The preferences did not seem to help because the machines did not provide a selection between power save and high performance. Does anybody know anything about this, or should I just assume mine will be delivered with a dark screen? The screens were glossy in both stores, NOT anti-glare.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have an MBP about 2 yrs. old. This morning when booting up, the computer made the chime sound and appeared to turn on but the screen stayed completely dark. I tilted it around and tried to see if the backlight was just dead, but there appears to be absolutely nothing on the screen. Furthermore, the little light that normally pulses while the computer is sleeping is on, though not pulsing, anyone know what's going on?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIt's only an 8 month old mid 2009 uMBP (2.26ghz, 4GB, 500GB). I was using the Disk Utility when it asked me to insert my MAC OS X Install disc and press "c" during start up and repair it. Every time I insert the disc and press "c" my screen goes completely dark. I thought it could have been a problem with the sensor so I flashed a light into it but it didn't work. I even tried putting it directly towards the sun light and still it doesn't work.

Yesterday my keyboard would light up, but today when I hit the F5/F6 keys to light up the keys, It won't light them, and it will show the icon with a no sign.
How to fix this?
I'm using a 13" 2010 MBP
on January 2012 I bought a new macbook pro for about a month now my keyboard has been having problems as in some days it will work and some days the icon will have an x through it when i try lighting up the keyboard. I really don't know why this is happening and how I can get this fixed

So I've got my MBP that I've had for about 4 months, the thing is. It just recently started to have screen flickering issues. I'll be sitting doing w/e as usual and all of a sudden the display goes dark, almost black, for a second, then comes back up again. I have yet to find any trend in when this is happening, but it is definitely happening on battery as well as plugged in, but it seems to be getting worse.any one have any idea what this could be, something I can fix on my own, or should I take it in?

Just trying to figure out if this is a issue with my macbook pro. When the screen is dark/black when movies are playing ect.. I noticed light on both sides of my screen. Not sure if this is normal but it bothers me a great deal. I have a 15' early 2008 macbook pro with applecare. Picture is side ways sorry[URL]
