I have a G4 14-inch iBook. Does anyone know if I'll be able to upgrade to Leopard when its released?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two Macs right now - an iBook and a new MacBook. I bought two Kingston 1GB RAM slots and put them in my MacBook and they're working great. Now I have two 512MB RAM slots that I'm not using.
My iBook has one free slot, so my question is this: can the RAM I took from the MacBook work in the iBook? I don't have the iBook around for the time being (it's at a friend's place), so I can't check it myself.
I'm going to sell the iBook, so I thought it would be nice if it had some more memory.
I was just using my laptop, and I got up for a few minutes, and then heard a weird crunch. I came back to see a quarter-size black spot with at least 3 cracks in it. There are also vertical lines, and a white section at the bottom. Is this a normal thing, or is my iBook trying to kill me or something? Also, I bought a G3 ibook a few days ago, but it hasn't came in yet. Does anyone know if its lcd will be compatible? Right now, I just hope the G3 ibook comes tomorrow because I am going on vacation and have a science project to work on. Also, if the G3 lcd won't work, then what will? [URL]...
View 20 Replies View RelatedIs there a site, preferably independant, which lists compatible hard drives for Mac laptops?
Also, if I buy an external enclosure, can I clone my current hard drive to it, with partitions and all, and have the Mac-store just stick it in without having to re-install Tiger?
Alright I just picked one up on ebay as something to write on and get used to mac. But my question is can I hook my 5th gen ipod to it?? It's not important to be able to but it'd be nice to be able to charge it while I'm out. I still have my pc at home. Also it currently doesn't have an airport card. do I have to install one or will the belkin usb wireless card I have work?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI did a search and found a lot of threads, but didn't find the answer to my question. If I hook up my powerbook to my receiver via the auxilary input, will I be able to get true surround sound? It'd be hooked up in the headphone jack. If this doesn't work, is the Firewave the best thing to get?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a G3 iBook and just the other day the display stopped working. There were no signs of the display going bad, it's just went. Am I able to boot the iBook via Target Disk Mode on my PowerBook and run the iBook Hardware Test CD on it? Also, can I reboot my PowerBook and choose the iBook as the startup volume?
I know how to do Target Disk Mode but the latter I'm not sure about.
My brother's iBook G4 (800Mhz, First Rev) has completely splattered itself and we're getting a new Macbook for him under insurance. My iBook G3 (White, 900Mhz G3..the last G3 Rev of the iBook) has a failing hard drive.
Now, could I swap out those two drives, at least to recover stuff? And is there a specific method of opening up the iBook G4 so that I don't break stuff (I've already messed with my G3..and ended up with a dozen extra screws ^_^
Mainly the aim is to salvage the hard drive and swap them out; replacing my faulty iBook G3 one with the iBook G4 one which is perfectly fine.
My iBook G4 power supply failed and I'm awaiting a replacement. In the mean time, can I use the power supply from my iBook G3 with the iBook G4?
View 1 Replies View RelatedRight now I have a G3 iBook (900 MHz, 640 MB RAM, Combodrive, 40 GB HDD). I'm looking at a G4 iBook (1.2 GHz, 768 MB RAM, Superdrive, 60 GB HDD).
How much faster would the G4 be over my G3. I figure that after selling my G3, the G4 would only be another $200ish on top of it. Would this be worth it?
I just bought a parts ibook from ebay, but I managed to fix it, except there was no hard drive. I currently have a 6 GB HD in it with OS X.3.9 on it, but I want tiger. I have the tiger family pack, so I have a license for it. It only has a CD-ROM drive, so I am wondering if I can buy a 40 GB HD, and clone the one from my G4 onto it.
SPECS
ibook G3- 500 MHZ
192 MB RAM
CD-ROM
currently has 6 GB HD
ibook G4- 1064 MHZ

I have an old SCSI dedicated slide and negative scanner. It produced scans so much superior to the two newer scanners I've tried, so I'd love to put it back into use. The available SCSI-USB adaptors are expensive, and the software for the device isn't available to work with Tiger or Leopard OS anyhow. I am thinking of looking for an ancient Mac to use the scanner with, or maybe even an old PC. Any feedback on what a smart way to bring my old SCSI Polaroid Sprintscan 3500 scanner back to life?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo my Macbook is coming in the mail and I'd like to plan my wireless setup. I don't even have the AirPort yet but I like to think ahead. So I'll have my Macbook, a printer, my speaker system, and my Xbox 360 and I'd like to have them all working wirelessly. How would I go about setting this up? Can I use a router with the AirPort in case I need extra hard-wired ethernets (modem-router-AirPort)? Which parts are directly connected to the AirPort and which to the Macbook? Knowing where the wiring must go is crucial in the placement of furniture and equipment.

I have a 13" MacBook Pro with a Magic Mouse and wireless keyboard. I would like to buy another Magic Mouse and wireless keyboard for my office. What I need to know is, can I have both pairs setup on my Mac so that when I go from home to the office they will work without having to reconfigure the peripherals?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo, I'll spare you guys the details, haha, but I am stuck trying to decide between getting an iMac Intel or a MacBook Pro for my home use computer. What would be the advantages of one over the other? I just really love the fact that a MacBook Pro would be portable yet powerful. And yes, I have this iBook for portability to school and such, but if I want to do extensive work on the couch, I could bring a MBP vs. an iMac. What do you all think? Are too laptops redundant?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to use a webcam for my Powerbook G4. I have an EyeToy usb camera but I can't seem to get that to work for any of my programs such as iMovie 09 and other iLife applications. I either want to know where I can get a camera that will work with this computer (That isn't very expensive) or how I can get my eye toy to work with everything.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI've been given a PowerBook G3. I'm not sure which version it is or anything. But its a PowerBook G3 because it says on the screen. How do I find out exactly what machine I've been given and what wireless card to have a look for. I wouldn't mind spending a couple of quid on ebay for an old second hand airport card just for fun really. Its got os9 on atm. I've got an old osx10.1 disk somewhere I might try and update it a little.
