I'm looking to use a webcam for my Powerbook G4. I have an EyeToy usb camera but I can't seem to get that to work for any of my programs such as iMovie 09 and other iLife applications. I either want to know where I can get a camera that will work with this computer (That isn't very expensive) or how I can get my eye toy to work with everything.
I'm looking to set up a few network cameras in my home. Any recommendations on Mac compatible hardware/software? Ideally, I'd love to be able to use my iPhone to access the video feed as well.
I am looking for a basic app (free if possible) that can help me convert movie files. For example, I took a video with my digital camera and the extension is .avi. I want to put on my iphone, which I believe only handles mp4 or m4v.
I've been given a PowerBook G3. I'm not sure which version it is or anything. But its a PowerBook G3 because it says on the screen. How do I find out exactly what machine I've been given and what wireless card to have a look for. I wouldn't mind spending a couple of quid on ebay for an old second hand airport card just for fun really. Its got os9 on atm. I've got an old osx10.1 disk somewhere I might try and update it a little.
I found this one I guess it works with my G3 Clamshell right? http://www.amazon.com/80GB-ATA-6-2-5...4?ie=UTF8&s=pc I don't want something over 60-70$ thats my max. I also found this Maxtor http://www.amazon.com/Maxtor-Diamond...4?ie=UTF8&s=pc Its much cheaper than the Fujitsu(above) but am not sure if it works or not. Idon't know whats the buffer for when it comes to HD's and also the pin?
I have two Macs right now - an iBook and a new MacBook. I bought two Kingston 1GB RAM slots and put them in my MacBook and they're working great. Now I have two 512MB RAM slots that I'm not using.
My iBook has one free slot, so my question is this: can the RAM I took from the MacBook work in the iBook? I don't have the iBook around for the time being (it's at a friend's place), so I can't check it myself.
I'm going to sell the iBook, so I thought it would be nice if it had some more memory.
Just realized my video card is going bad and have an ATI Radeon 9600 XT card w/ 128 mb ddr laying around and was wondering if the two would be compatible? ive heard some rumors about being able to tape over some pins and make it work but was wondering if there were any other answers. The box doesnt mention that it works w/ macs, only windows

I was just using my laptop, and I got up for a few minutes, and then heard a weird crunch. I came back to see a quarter-size black spot with at least 3 cracks in it. There are also vertical lines, and a white section at the bottom. Is this a normal thing, or is my iBook trying to kill me or something? Also, I bought a G3 ibook a few days ago, but it hasn't came in yet. Does anyone know if its lcd will be compatible? Right now, I just hope the G3 ibook comes tomorrow because I am going on vacation and have a science project to work on. Also, if the G3 lcd won't work, then what will? [URL]...

As the title says, will the new airport extreme card with 802.11n work in an old iMac G3 capable of adding an airport card? I know I need the card adaptor, but does this new one work fine, or do I need to buy an older version? Also, which old macs would have compatible airport cards?
Is this hard drive going to work as an extra drive in a: Power Mac G5 Power PC G5 (2.2) existing ram 2x512MB PC3200U-30330 Western Digital Caviar (WD5000AAKS) 500GB SATAII 7200RPM 16MB Buffer (OEM)
I bought this iMac G5 on ebay like half a year ago. The camera never worked when I got it. Then today, my sister was telling me to get it fixed. She tried using photobooth. Then idk how many times she launched photo booth then the light turned green! It worked for like a second.. when she moved the monitor, there it is again "the camera-not working icon".
Apple is slowly dropping PowerPC compatibility with its latest software releases as evidenced by a major new feature of iLife '09 that will function only on Intel-based Macs.
Ars Technica points out that GarageBand's Learn to Play, a new section within the music-making software that serves as a digital instructor for a user learning a new instrument, is not officially supported for Macs still running on PowerPC processors.
System requirements found on the Apple Store website say, in fine print, "GarageBand Learn to Play requires an Intel-based Mac with a dual-core processor or better."
When iLife '09 was first announced at last month's Macworld, the system requirements included "a Power PC G5 or 867 MHz or faster PowerPC G4" without mentioning any incompatible individual features.
Learn to Play also offers Artist Lessons from a Lesson Store built into GarageBand where artists teach fans how to play their hit songs on certain instruments for $4.99 each lesson.
Chief executive Steve Jobs confirmed the switch from PowerPC to Intel in June 2005, targeting the end of 2007 for the transition to be completed.
Mac OS X Leopard excluded slower PowerPC-based Macs with a cutoff set at 800 MHz G4 or faster.
Official documentation from Apple gives clues that PowerPC Macs very well may be left out completely when Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard is released sometime during the first half of this year. Developer copies distributed at WWDC last year included a requirements PDF that listed "an Intel processor" as the minimum necessary to run the software.
Adding further weight to that possibility, people familiar with the ongoing development of Leopard have previously told AppleInsider that Snow Leopard would in all likelihood exclude support for PowerPC processors.[ View this article at [URL] ]
I have a 1.67 Ghz, 1gb ram 15inch powerbook. I need a new mains power adaptor as mine is pretty well had it. I've looked around on the web and am not sure if I need a 45watt or 65 watt adaptor. Does it make a difference? I'm based in the UK.
Looking for a good PCI (32 bit) esata controller card for my G5, im considering these two cards but dont wanna shell out the cash $110. I want a card that can handle more than 4 drives, RAID 0,1 and 5 compatible. [URL:...] The sonnett card is waaaaay to expensive... But, the Off brand card is more like what im looking for just needs to be $30 cheaper. PCI-X will work too, because its backward compatible with 32Bit PCI
Is there a site, preferably independant, which lists compatible hard drives for Mac laptops?
Also, if I buy an external enclosure, can I clone my current hard drive to it, with partitions and all, and have the Mac-store just stick it in without having to re-install Tiger?
I have an external iSight Web camera and want to use it with an iMac with a built in iSight camera. Can I disable the built in iSight camera and instead use the external camera?
Surely this is a pretty standard feature in laptops now, particularly with Apple's obsession with iPhoto etcDoes it come as an option? How do you get your pics off your camera? You have to connect a usb cable from the laptop to the camera?
I am looking for a display to use with my Powerbook G4 12". I am in love with the 30" cinema display, but according to technical support today, my setup is not compatible (supposedly, but the person on the phone didn't sound to sure). I have a mini DVI, but the 30" requires a dual DVI. I think the 23" display requires DVI, which I can attain with an adapter. Does anyone have suggestions for what I can use with my computer? The bigger the better for me. Also what do you think of the older (plastic case) apple displays?
