PowerPC :: Does New AirPort Extreme Card Compatible With G3?

Apr 26, 2008

As the title says, will the new airport extreme card with 802.11n work in an old iMac G3 capable of adding an airport card? I know I need the card adaptor, but does this new one work fine, or do I need to buy an older version? Also, which old macs would have compatible airport cards?

PowerPC :: Will AirPort Extreme Card Work With G4 (10.2.8)?

Jan 13, 2007

I currently own a G4 PowerBook running OS X 10.2.8 (archaic, I know) which I use as a word processor. I want to set it up to recieve my friend's 802.11 wireless signal (with his permission), which is sent out by a base station tied to a Windows machine. Two questions I have:

First, will an Apple PowerBook and Airport card be able to receive a signal from a Windows machine (I don't see why not, but...)?
Secondly, I seem to only be able to find the AirPort Extreme card on the Apple Store. Will the Extreme card plug and play with my notebook, or not? Are there any good third-party cards that I can buy that will work well if not?

PowerPC :: Using EMac USB 2.0 Airport Extreme Card

Jul 3, 2008

My university was tossing an eMac so I decided to take it. I put Leopard on it (10.5) and purchased an Airport Extreme PCI Card (A1026). I followed the instructions here: [URL] to a T, and no luck. System Profiler doesn't recognize the card. So, I decided to take the card out and put it back in while the computer was on. The computer came up with the black screen that says I need to restart the computer; however, upon restart it still doesn't recognize the card.

Have PowerPC G5 Running OSX 10.5.8 / Would Like To Fit Airport Extreme Card

Mar 30, 2012

I have a Dual 2GHz PowerPC G5 running OSX 10.5.8 and want to have wireless capability, if possible. There does not appear to be a dedicated slot for an Airport Extreme card on the motherboard, so I'm wondering if there's a card that would work in one of the spare PCI slots?

PowerMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8), Dual 2GHz

PowerPC :: EMac Airport Extreme Card Installation?

Mar 30, 2009

I bought an eMac off Craigslist. I really really love it. Its the 1GHz model, it does everything I want it to.

I needed it to have wireless for when I bring it home over the summer (Im at school now and we have ethernet cables) so I bought an airport extreme off ebay for about $20.

I followed the instructions (Held the door down, turned it off, installed it and plugged the antenna in) and turned it back on. No Airport symbol appeared at the top.

I searched a little bit, its running 10.3.9 and so i found it requires a driver (it didnt come with a CD).

I installed the Driver, restarted it and still nothing. I even made sure it was installed properly, and as far as I can tell everything is hooked in ok.

The guy who sold it to me is supposedly sending me an install of Tiger, would that help it recognize it? Im not really placing all my eggs in one basket either that he'll send it to me, any suggestions?

PowerPC :: EMac Airport Extreme Card Not Recognized

Dec 22, 2009

I just installed the Airport extreme wireless card on my emac, but I have run into some problems:

1)after installing the card, the mac took a very long time to start up, I tested to make sure it was the card: everytime I started it up without the card, it did the normal thing, but with the card, it took a long time

2)after finally starting up, nowhere can i find where/how to configure the wireless. When I go to configure the network, it has all options, but the airport card option is not usable.

So: how can i access the airport card settings to get wireless connectivity?

PowerPC :: AirPort Extreme Card On Late 2004 G5 Mac Detects No Wireless Networks

Jul 4, 2010

I recently purchased a refurbished AirPort Extreme Card and AirPort antenna for my late 2004 Power Mac G5. My Mac is running on OS X Version 10.4.11. I properly installed them, since the computer notes the AirPort Extreme card in the "About Mac" menu. There are a couple of wireless networks near my home and the computer doesn't detect any of them. I've checked out previous forum discussions around this issue, tried some suggested troubleshooting to no avail. Can I presume the AirPort Extreme card is defective? It detects absolutely no signal from the other networks around here. Could the WEP password length of our router have anything to do with it? Do I need to download a driver to activate the AirPort Extreme Card? Could upgrading to a different operating system make it work?

Hardware :: Canon LBP-3000 Compatible With Airport Extreme?

Oct 27, 2010

When I send a file from my XP workstation to the Canon LBP-3000 printer connected to my Airport Extreme Base Station I get the following XP Incorrect port message: "The port to which the printer is connected is not supported. Check the port."

I am trying to use a Canon LBP-3000 printer that is connected to the USB port on my Airport Extreme Base Station from a computer running Windows XP. The AEB is connected to an ethernet port on the same XP computer.

I have installed the latest LBP-3000 printer driver from the Canon .au website.

The TCP/IP port settings have been set up as follows:

Port name: IP_10.0.1.1
IP address: 10.0.1.1
Protocol: Raw
Raw settings port no: 9100

Note that the printer works normally when connected as a local printer via a USB port on the XP host.

I am running Windows XP Home version 2002 SP3 The printer driver is titled "Canon Advanced Printing Technology for Canon LBP3000 R1.12 Ver.3.02.0.005 (Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista)"

The AEB firmware version is 7.5.1

Note that I am able to print via the AEB/USB to my Epson Stylus printer using the exact same setup as above (except for the printer driver).
