View 16 RepliesI bought a 32'' 1080p tv to be an external monitor for my IbookG4. I need to hook it up via HDMI to even get the 1080p. I bought a $100 converter to get VGA to HDMI output with HDCP. 1080 didn't show up on my list, and the highest I can get is 1280x1024. I then bought DisplayConfigX and installed to get the resolution, and i still get the same thing. My vid card is a ATIRadeon9700 pro mac edition, and should be able to go up to 1920. I've had a monitor hooked up via vga before that put out 1600x1100.
View 8 Replies View Relatedi just bought the macbook alu. w/ the mini displayport, i tried to plug it directly to my samsung 1080p hdtv with the Mdport to vga cable but the tv didnt display anything. so i searched the web to find other solutions (Mdport to dvi -> dvi to hdmi cable), but for me that means buying 2 other cables so i was wondering if i could use this route: mini displayport to vga -> vga/dvi-i adapter -> dvi-i/hdmi cable -> 1080p hdtv? with this example, i would have to buy only the dvi-i/hdmi cable since I already have the vga/dvi-i adapter (my old MSI 6600gt one) so hows that sound? thx for giving me the answer ASAP cause I need to make a surprise presentation for my boy!

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy Power Mac G5 is connected to my Sony HDTV using a brand new DVI-HDMI cable ($80 at Radio Shack). The second I plugged it in, both the TV and the Monitor went black. I only had picture for a couple minutes in 3 - 5 second intervals. It never straightened itself out. I restarted, same thing. Has this happened to anyone? It's as if the TV was drawing power away from my Apple Cinema display (non-HD...the older one). Heres my computer info:

can anyone tell me what kind of cable i need to get to do this?
I'm looking at a widescreen plasma display, and it's native resolution is 1024x768. What I am wondering is, since it is widescreen, if the image will come out looking squashed from my computer. (A PowerMac G4 through VGA.)
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo why is Widescreen better than the "old" 4:3 aspect ratio? I haven't seen a website/document where content is arranged 16:9, is this seriously JUST for movies? I just started using my old Thinkpad t60 again, and its 15" whcih feels allot bigger than my 15.4" MacBook Pro. who exactly needs widescreen andy why are they still measure monitors in inch wouldn't it make more sense to do a Pixel/cm^2 ?? plain cm^2 would be better as well

1- HDMI cable
2- Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Female Adapter.
3- this sit that include Audio Cable
[URL] I did connect everything my macbook pro very well to the TV using HDMI cable from the laptop to HDMI/DVI port in the TV. Also I connected the Audio cable from my Headphone port in my laptop to PC/DVI Audio IN in the TV. Yes I got the pic and everything is good but no sound at all. I tried everything and i searched the net but no luck or answer at all.
if i buy the mini display port to dvi adapter, could i use it with a dvi to hdmi cable for my monitor. This is because the dvi and vga ports are already taken up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn DVDSP3 (or 4 I believe), not all of the Apple menu templates can cope with being stretched to 16:9.
Some adjust themselves when you change the menu's aspect, other's don't expand to fill the screen.
I'm told you can adjust the template file directly (in Photoshop or whatever).
I am running video from my MacBook to my widescreen tv via a VGA cable. I cannot get any video settings to work that show the video in widescreen format. Everything I select has the black bars on the sides.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI currently have a macBook Pro with a 22" widescreen Smasung monitor. Is there anyway to make it so the computer "cuts off the sides" so it can make 4:3 ratio without stretching anything? I want to play an old game from 1999 on Windows XP that doesn't look good on widescreen.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've tried on two different monitors, and the best I can do is widescreen that will fill about 75% of the screen. It leaves darkness all the way around the edges. On my 19" widescreen monitor that means I have about 2-3" around every edge that is wasted. Not only that, but on this particular monitor the display comes out with lots of "noise" that creates random dots of color all over the screen. I am using a mac dongle to an hdmi cable..

I've tried SwitchResX with no avail, and don't know what else to try? This is my monitor and its Native settings are 1680 x 1050?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm going nutz and have read a bunch of other threads on this but most of it is way over my head. I just made a movie on iMovie and then moved it to iDVD. I am using iLife 08. The projects (the movie and dvd) were both widescreen. Everything was great! Looked great on the computer etc... But then I played the dvd on my widescreen TV and the top and bottom of the picture (including titles I had put on the bottom of the screen using the imovie templates) had been cut off. Not letter boxed but rather they seemed to not fit on the screen. I tried changing my tv settings but nothing seems to work. Does anyone know what might be up? I also tried to burn the dvd as a standard 4:3 project and the resulting DVD still had the top and bottom cut off. Is this an issue with my DVD/TV?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI put together a video of photos on imovie. I took it to iDVD and made a disc image. (My mac mini does not have a DVD drive, so I have to transfer the image to the PC and burn it to DVD there.) Once the final product is on DVD, I stick it in the DVD player... and.... the video is STRETCHED! (It's a widescreen TV...) The DVD looks good when played on a computer, but on our TV it looks stretched.

The Dell SP2309W 23" Flat Panel Widescreen Monitor with WebCam is only $300, seems to good to be true. Is it a good monitor, in the same league as the HP LP2475w or the Apple 24" LED display?
I can definitely live with the 23" and can't believe it's only $300.
After taking advice here and there, I have decided to go for a dual monitor set up on my late 2006 iMac 24inch. I want to use the Eizo S2242W monitor which is a 22inch widescreen model with a resolution of 1920x1200. I will use this for photoshop work and I want the set up to allow me to use my internal iMac screen to display photoshop controls and the picture I am editing to appear on the properly calibrated Eizo. I believe this is called extended mode or some such. I need to know if this is possible with the mac I own and if there are any additional connections I will need to buy to make it work. The screen has a DV input and I believe my mac has a mini dv output but I'm not sure what this means for me.

None of the other resolutions seem to work in the display preferences.
