IMac :: Use Eizo S2242W Monitor 22" Widescreen Model With Resolution 1920x1200?

Sep 16, 2009

After taking advice here and there, I have decided to go for a dual monitor set up on my late 2006 iMac 24inch. I want to use the Eizo S2242W monitor which is a 22inch widescreen model with a resolution of 1920x1200. I will use this for photoshop work and I want the set up to allow me to use my internal iMac screen to display photoshop controls and the picture I am editing to appear on the properly calibrated Eizo. I believe this is called extended mode or some such. I need to know if this is possible with the mac I own and if there are any additional connections I will need to buy to make it work. The screen has a DV input and I believe my mac has a mini dv output but I'm not sure what this means for me.

IMac :: DVI Or HDMI For 1920x1200 Second Monitor?

Aug 2, 2010

I ordered the new 27" i7 and shoulder be here this week. I'm looking to make my samsung SyncMaster T260hd my second monitor, it supports all connections, dvi-d, hdmi, vga.

I'm wondering which "mini display port - to -xxxx" should I get. Does HDMI go higher then 1080p? Is the DVI-D my best option?, I've read that they both have the same "video quality" but was wondering if HDMI offers the same resolutions as DVI, and which will be better for the future as well. I still hope/plan to buy a mac pro in 2-3 years.

I use my computer for light video editing (after effects), lightroom, and photoshop.

MacBook Pro :: 17" Unibody Outputting 1920x1080 Instead Of 1920x1200 To External Monitor

Jun 26, 2009

Just got a 17" unibody to replace my 15" Classic. It appears that the 17" can't output 1920x1200 over the mini DisplayPort to DVI connection, rather displaying 1920x1080. The 15" Classic has no problem outputting 1920x1200 which is the native resolution of this display (an LG L246WP).

What can I do? I tried downloading SwitchResX and fiddling around with that to no avail.

Power Mac G5 :: Reset Monitor Resolution Supported By Monitor?

Nov 22, 2007

I have a G5 Quad with an Ati x1900 graphics card running into a 52" Samsung LCD. This was working fine through a dvi-vga adaptor until I switched the monitor resolution from 1920X1080 to 1360X768 which is not supported by the monitor .....blank screen. I plugged another 19" monitor into the other output on the card and both work fine but as soon as I remove the 19" the 52" reverts back to the unsupported mode. I have reset the pram and tried booting in safe mode but that did not help me. From bootup the 52" works fine until just before the login screen, then it switches resolution......blank screen. Would anyone know where these settings would be housed in OS 10.5.1 so I can modify (delete) them?

Mac Pro :: Can't Get Native Resolution On Second Monitor In OS X

Oct 13, 2010

Here are my hardware specs:

Mac Pro 1,1

NVidia 7300GT (I need a new video card, anyone want to sell me one? [=)

2 x Samsung Synmaster 2494SW (native resolution 1920x1080)

Update:

I booted into windows 7 and I am now able to get both native resolutions.

Though, I am still unable to get both native resolutions (using DVI to DVIs) inside OS X for some reason. In OS X my second monitor is displayed as "VGA Display" and it completely black.

I am not sure why it works in bootcamp using Windows 7, but not in Snow Leopard. I am guessing this is a problem with the OS X configuration.

OS X :: Which Resolution Monitor To Buy For MacBook?

Apr 19, 2010

I'm looking for an external monitor to plug my macbook into. Mainly working on Aperture, Microsoft office, and web surfing. Not watching movies or gaming on it. With my budget, the only IPS monitor I can afford is the 22" Dell ultrasharp. It comes with 1680x1050 resolution (or close to that). Also, its non-glossy, and I prefer glossy. Alternatively I can get a plain vanilla 24" TN monitor with 1920x1200.

I do need the extra screen estate, which is why I decided to buy a monitor in the first place. I frequently have to refer to multiple documents at the same time while working on Microsoft office, and Aperture would certainly benefit from more space. All these resolutions are new to me, my current desktop PC is still running on 1200x1024. Is there a significant difference moving from 1680 to 1920? Is it justified to lose the IPS feature (which gives better color and viewing angles, I've been told).

Mac Pro :: Can Use With Monitor Of Lower Than 4K Resolution?

Sep 6, 2014

I have just purchased a new Mac Pro (august 2014) basic configuration ( see below)

Quad-Core and Dual GPU
3.7GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5 processor
12GB 1866MHz DDR3 ECC memory
Dual AMD FirePro D300with 2GB GDDR5 VRAM each
256GB PCIe-based flash storage

From reviews seen so far the 4K monitors available do not achieve the 60Hz refresh rate...

The other issue is that the price of these displays is somewhat extravagant at the moment and since I intend to use my Mac pro for other applications and not Video and Photo editing I would like to ask whether a display of resolution (say 1920X1080) would work with my new Mac Pro.

OS X :: Cannot Select Appropriate Resolution For External Monitor

Aug 13, 2010

Recently I plugged my HD Monitor to my MacBook and the resolution changed (on the external monitor). I went to Display Preferences but I do not get any resolutions above 1600x1200. When I first used this monitor, I could use it at 1920x1080 and now I simply can't. I don't know if it's a PRAM issue. I reset it but nothing changed.

I'm using a HP 2309m monitor in VGA mode using the VGA-Mini display port adapter. I use the monitor with a PC in DVI mode, but I never use these connection at the same time. I noticed something. When I first used this monitor, Mac identified it as HP 2309 when I opened the display preferences. Now, it only recognizes it as Display.

MacBook Pro :: Can't Set Monitor To The Proper Resolution

Jun 29, 2012

This happened before and a restart fixed the problem, but not anymore.  Out of nowhere, I startup and I'm getting a message on the screen of my Samsung 2033SW that the resolution should be 1600 x 900 60mhz.  This is a message from the monitor, not a Mac system message.  But there is no setting for 1600x900 on the system prefs.  I tried restarting, and so on, but nothing...  In previous occurrences, somehow some way, I started to see the proper settings and then I just selected them in system prefs.  But no longer.  I'm stuck on 1024 x 768, the closest to the proportional resolution I'm after.  I don't know of any way to force the proper resolution.  Are there some .plist files I can delete?  There are other issues with this machine which is old and I'm working around for now.

MacBook Pro :: External Monitor Resolution To 1680x1050

Oct 27, 2010

I just found out that if I use the "mirroring" mode, and I set the resolution to 1680x1050 and 60hz(my monitor max resolution/hz), it's all kinda blurry... But if I put in sleep mode ma MPB and wake it up "switching on" my bluetooth keyboard, the monitor in my MBP doesn't even start and it just use the external monitor. In this case, there's no more blurriness but the settings are the same! Then, I can even turn on my MBP monitor (pressing some random key on its keyboard) and nothing change, still no blurriness...

How can this happen? By the way, there is another funny issue: if I use this "trick", the applications that should run in "fullscreen" (not really fullscreen, just the window that use all the screen size), like iTunes, don't do it anymore....

MacBook Pro :: Getting Optimal Resolution For External Monitor

May 19, 2010

I have a Macbook Pro 13 inch 2010 model hooked up to a NEC Multisync EA231 WMI external monitor. The monitor is supposed to have a resolution of 1920 X 1080, but my computer only recognizes 1600 x 900 as the highest resolution. I've tried both mirrored and extended desktop, and I've also hooked up the monitor through a DVI adaptor and through a displayport cable. An Apple support person suggested using a dual-link DVI adaptor, but according to the Apple site this shouldn't be necessary for 1920 x 1080 resolution (I've also heard that it's a buggy piece of hardware). Any suggestions for getting optimal resolution?

Mac Mini :: Cannot Find Correct Resolution For VGA Monitor

Mar 23, 2012

I have dual monitors connected to my 2010 Mac mini (the first model of Mac mini to support two separate monitor outputs) and I have it in extended desktop mode. (Different content on both monitors)

When I first attached my secondary monitor, the resolution was correct. However, ever since a power outage several years ago the monitor's resolution ratio is different. The monitor's resolution is now 1280 x 1024, but the ratio is off for my Widescreen monitor. It isn't the default "widescreen", but it isn't a square either. Because of this ratio mismatch, all the content on that monitor is stretched out horizontally. (From side to side)

I am using both displays and that is fine, however I would like to be able to change the font sizes in my 19" monitor, because the default one is too small. I have to get awfully close to the monitor. I am not sure how i can display it better. When I tried changing resolution from 1440x900 to others, I didn't make it right, is that the only way? All I want is for screens in this monitor to have larger fonts (all programs, whether its safari, chrome, mail, etc). I should mention I am a brand new mac user.

MacBook Pro :: Monitor Resolution Changes With Mini Hdmi Use?

I am running Lion OS on a 17 inch unibody Macbook Pro.  I have been watching television on my Sony XBR television through my computer using a mini-hdmi to hdmi converter - essentially using my television as a second monitor by using mirror mode.  It has been working perfectly until just recently.  Now everytime I hook up the mini-hdmi connection, it is changing the resolution of my Macbook Pro screen.  It is crushing the picture of the Macbook down and making Safari - the controls as well as the screen image contained therein - really dark. I have tried playing with the display controls-including trying to get my computer to re-detect my television.  I am stumped as to WHY this started happening all the sudden.
