MacBook :: Connecting Alu To Sony LCD TV For 1080p?

Apr 27, 2009

I bought the mini display to dvi adaptor for my new alu mackbook 2.4 then connected it up to a dvi to hdmi cable, now connected to my sony 40v3000 1080p lcd tv.

Problem im having is i can only view it at 1024 x 768 resolution on the tv, when i should be able to view it at 1920 x 1080p?

None of the other resolutions seem to work in the display preferences.

MacBook Pro :: Bad Picture Clarity At 1080p On Sony Bravia 26 Inch?

May 9, 2012

today i decided to use my sony bravia 26 inch klv series LCD TV as my primary display instead of my LG 22 inch LED and at first i was surprised that it reported the input as "unsupported". after a few tries now i have the display running as a primary diplay at 1080p and the macbook in closed lid clamshell. but the picture clarity is horrible! the font is barely readable and the color isn't that good either. also, the edges of both the font and the pictures aren't sharp or crisp.

its like watching a blur image like on a vga. i'm using a mini display port to dvi adapter and a dvi to hdmi cable. before u think its the cable let me tell u this same cable works fine with my 22inch led, 22inch sony lcd and 40 inch sony lcd in the living room. but they had their own set of problems. the color is unnatural with too much saturation for a computer screen and the zoom fit is a well known probelm which required a lot of effort untill apple equppied os x with "underscan"

MacBook Pro :: Connecting To Sony Bravia - No Sound

Oct 2, 2009

I used to have a White Macbook. This connected to my Sony Bravia via a Mini DVI-DVI, then a DVI-HDMI cable. The sound went from the headphone jack on the MB to two connectors on the TV (L&R). Job done.

Now I have a MBP and am trying the same thing. I have a Mini Displayport-HDMI cable, with the HDMI then going to the TV. I have the same audio connection. The result is perfect picture but no sound at all.

Does anyone have any idea how I can get the sound working? I have the same issue with my unibody Macbook as well. These are the connections I have on the TV;

Connector Type: 2 x HDMI ( 19 pin HDMI Type A ) 1 x VGA input ( 15 PIN HD D-Sub (HD-15) ) 1 x S-Video input ( 4 PIN mini-DIN ) 1 x SPDIF output ( TOS Link ) 1 x headphones ( mini-phone stereo 3.5 mm ) Composite video input ( RCA phono ) Component video input ( RCA phono x 3 ) 2 x SCART ( 21 PIN SCART ) 1 x audio line-in ( mini-phone stereo 3.5 mm ) Audio line-in ( RCA phono x 2 ) 1 x audio line-out ( RCA phono x 2 )

MacBook :: Connecting To Sony TV - No Sound Output

May 24, 2012

I spent most of last night trying to get this done! No problems with the vision, cable between Macbook and HDMI input on the TV is fine. I have a 3.5mm Jack to Phono lead which I thought would work for the Audio. No sound. Maybe I'm not setting the Sony TV up properly, or I'm putting them in the wrong inputs (I've tried the all I think). There is a headphone (3.5mm) on the TV...but surely that's an output.

Hardware :: Connecting MacBook To Sony Bravia KDL-40XBR9?

Jun 15, 2010

I recently bought a Sony Bravia KDL-40XBR9. I have it hooked up to my MacBook using an HDMI to DVI connection. But, I'm not getting sound through the TV. So, I bought a 3.5mm to RCA (one red, one white connection) cable. I've plugged the red and white connections into all of the red/white ports on the back of the tv but I'm still not getting sound out of the tv.

How do I get the tv to use the HDMI for video but the RCA for sound?

Hardware :: No Screen Fill Connecting MacBook To Sony Bravia?

Apr 5, 2010

I have a MacBook 5,1 (late 2008) running Mac OS X 10.6.3 which I would like to connect to our Sony Bravia KDL-37S5500 to watch films. The Sony Bravia has a 1080p resolution (1920x1080) and my MacBook can output up to 1920x1200 (which it has been doing fine on my Dell monitor).

I am connecting it using the Apple mini-display-port to DVI converter, then a DVI cable and finally a DVI to HDMI converter which plugs straight into the TV.

It looks great except that it doesn't fill the screen entirely. It seems the resolution is correct (text looks normal, not stretched in any way), but when Overscan is turned on the image is slightly too big horizontal-wise. When Overscan is turned off I get black borders around the image (horizontal as well as vertical). We've tried different settings both on the TV and on the MacBook, but we can't get the right view.

MacBook Pro :: Colors Reversed On External Monitor After Connecting To Sony TV?

May 20, 2012

I have an 15" Macbook Pro (Lion) with external HP monitor, which has been working fine. It is connected to Thunderbolt port via DVI.Today I connected the MBP to a Sony TV using Thunderbolt port via HDMI, which worked. When I switched back to the external HP monitor, colors were reversed on the HP monitor (you can read the contents but the colors are mostly green and pink). The MBP internal monitor displays correctly. I've tried rebooting the computer, resetting the HP monitor to factory settings, and deleting the HP monitor profile. No change.

The camera downloads fine to a PC, but the Mac is have does not recognize the camera.

The connection is via a USB between the camera and the MAC.

When the camera is connected, the best I get is an icon that shows a CD is place, not a DVD.

Is there a way I can download the data from the camera so it can be edited in I-movie?

PowerPC :: Connecting Sony-Ericsson W200i To Powerbook G4/freezing

Aug 16, 2007

I have a seriously annoying problem. I recently bought a Sony Ericsson w200i which arrived in the mail today. Cheerfully i connected it to my Powerbook using the included USB-cable which promtly brought up a 'you need to restart your computer'-screen in a few different languages. I can only remember having seen that screen once before in the 2 years i've had the Powerbook and then it was an exception but with the W200 it happens every damn time. Basically i'm just throwing this one out here because i can't find any info on this anywhere on the internet including these forums and Sony Ericssons support(i've mailed them but no response so far). I did find one thread where a poster says he simply connects it like i do but i don't know if he's got an intel or ppc.

My computer: Powerbook G4 1.67 ghz with OSX 10.4.2.

Mac Mini :: No Audio When Connecting To Sony TV With VGA And Red/White Audio Cable

Apr 28, 2012

I have attached my Mac mini to my Sony TV (to use as a moniter) - there hasn't been any trouble with the picture but I cannot get any sound.

I am using a VGA (I know that doesn't send audio over) plugged into the 'PC In' port at the back of my tv, and I am using an audio cable with a normal headphone-type jack on one end (going into the headphone port on the back of my mac mini) and the red/white cable going into the HDMI-in red/white ports on the back of my tv. I can't figure out what is going on - I tried plugging the red/white cables into all the input ports on the back of my tv, just in case, but no luck.

MacBook Pro :: New System Sony Vaio Or Sony Vaio F11?

Mar 28, 2010

This is my first post here at MacRumors.com and I'm quite happy to be here posting as it's a good sign for myself and Apple. I am a Windows user for 15 years and Apple really has come so far in recent years that it is maybe time for change. There are a few problems and I'd like if you have the time to give your opinion:In recent months and especially during the time of the latest MacBook Pro I was pretty impressed and tempted to buy a MBP 17" to upgrade my 2007 Sony 15" Core2Duo Vaio. The time has come for an upgrade in April 2010 as I simply cannot wait any longer, I have become to involved in following stories here at MacRumors and even looking at Sony's offerings.

MacBook Pro :: GPU For Watching 720p/1080p Video?

May 28, 2010

Which one better handles HD video, the dedicated Intel HD or the nVidia 330M?

I watch a lot of HD video on my i5 and it mostly handles it without a hiccup but on occasion there is some slight stuttering when there is fast motion (with 1080p, the 720p stuff is handled well)...I think the default chip for most video is the Intel HD but I would think the nVidia would better handle these bigger files...any thoughts?

(of course with battery use I know the nVidia is a resourse/energy hog)

MacBook :: 9400m Editing And Rendering 1080p Video?

Jan 13, 2010

Im thinking about getting a mbp 13" and i was wondering how well it edits and renders 1080p video. i currently edit and render on my 2007 mb and it takes 3 hours just for the render, plus it freezes for a few seconds here and there scrolling through the video. so we will say 4 hours total 1 hour to edit 7 min clip and 3 hours or more to render it. what my question is does anyone out there edit and render 1080p video with there 9400m and if so about how long does it take. and how long the video was that you rendered. the reason im asking only about 1080p is that my mb can work fine with 720p and it has the igpu for intel the x3100. also i mainly shoot in 1080p/60 frames per sec.

ITunes :: Why No 1080p HD Video On Macbook Pro/mac Mini From Store

May 28, 2012

Why can't you play 1080p video on a macbook pro or mac mini?  This means you have to sync files which are over 1GB in size one at a time to the new ipad just to view them and this takes a long time.  When at home, I use itunes via a macbook pro/mac mini for all my multi media connect to my TV, now I have GB's of files I cannot watch at home.

It kind of defeats the object, there is not enough space on an ipad to hold much HD content, certainly I will not be buying anymore HD video files from itunes for this reason.  I am dissapointed to have wasted money on 1080p videos that I have to sync one at a time to a new ipad just to watch them.  The new ipad screen is great but surely we need the option to watch 1080p HD video on out TV too?  The crazy thing is that itunes/quicktime can easily handle 1080p video which is not from the itunes store so Apple must be deliberately restricting itunes bought 1080p HD video to the new ipad.
