PowerPC :: G4 IMac 17" 1.25GHz Maximum RAM Capacity?

Apr 18, 2007

I'm about to purchase one and I keep getting mixed answers. I know there are two slots in this model, but i've been told it holds a maximum of 2GB, 1GB in each, and also that it only holds 1GB, 512MB in each.

Someone that has this model may know the real answer. Keep in mind, this is the 17", not the 20", so it may be different.

Also, are both slots accessible?

PowerPC :: Overclocking A 1.25ghz G4 IMac?

Mar 17, 2009

Question to the mac gods...

Recently purchased a new desktop so i wouldn't mind tinkering with my OLD iMac G4 1.25G Is this processor just a over clocked 1g G4? I would like to add more ram and over clock it to 1.5g or higher if possible. Is there anyone who would know how todo this? I assume i would need to change jumper setting within the computer right? What would the setting be?

I mainly use this for music and simple everyday tasks and its soooooo slow compared to my MBP and MP.

PowerPC :: 1.25GHz G4 IMac & H264 Encodes?

Aug 1, 2008

I've got a 1.25GHz G4 iMac with 1.5 GB of ram running on Leopard and I'm also an avid anime addict. Lately, more and more anime are being encoded in H264 and my iMac just can't handle it anymore. In some cases, I get sound but no video (processing power is enough for sound, but just not enough juice for the H264 decoding) and the sound plays with no stutter/lag. However, in other cases, everything is laggy.

Either way, is there no way around this? It's not my main system, and I can accept the fact that it's an outdated system, but I've been able to do most things I usually do with it without problems. I'll never get rid of this baby, so I would like to know if anything can be done to stretch it's potential

"you can donate it to [fill in your name here]" because the answer is "no", or "upgrade to something more recent" because the answer is "I already have something more recent".

Mac Pro :: Maximum MP(2006) Hard Drive Capacity?

Nov 29, 2010

So, I have a 2006 model MacPro. Currently, I have (3) 500GB hard drives and (1) 750GB hard drive.

I would like to possible add a 2TB or at least 1.5TB internal hard drive to it (I have so much clutter with my external drives already)

I called Apple and they said that model only went to 750GB....

Is there really a limit? It's a SATA drive so I figure it would keep going? has anyone had any luck with larger drives??!

MacBook Pro :: Maximum Battery Capacity Decreasing

Jul 23, 2010

It's only been a month&half with my MBP 13". Coconut battery claims my MBP is 3 months old now (obviously manufactured 2 months prior to my purchase). Currently I have 8 cycles. 2 calibrations (one on first day, and one yesterday). It went from 98%-97%. Obviously this isn't a big jump, and I know i'm just being paranoid. I don't understand how people on the forum says after calibration your maximum battery capacity should go up, and it refreshes the system or something. It nearly dropped by a 100... What the hell? How do I make it go up? It's only a month old !! Shouldn't it be at 100% or atleast 99%? Some people on this forum claim that they have over 100%+ after MONTHS of usage...

MacBook Pro :: Hard Drive Replacement (Supported Maximum Capacity)

May 30, 2010

I bought my Macbook Pro in February or March of 2006 and it's still running strong. The hard drive, however, is full and I'd like to get a new, larger, faster one. I'm aware that I need a SATA drive and that it's form factor should be 2.5". I'm also aware that the max transfer rate for my drive is 1.5 Gb/s, can I use one that is 3.0 Gb/s? I think the current drive is 4200 or 5400 RPM, can I use one that is 7200RPM (this computer is mostly used while on AC power)? What about maximum capacity? Are there any limitations due to BIOS or the motherboard? Here is the drive I'm looking at, please let me know if this will work or if you have a similar, better solution.

Here are some of the specs from my MBP:
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro1,1
Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 2 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Boot ROM Version: MBP11.0055.B08
SMC Version (system): 1.2f10

TOSHIBA MK1032GSX:
Capacity: 100.03 GB (100,030,242,816 bytes)
Model: TOSHIBA MK1032GSX
Revision: AS024B
Native Command Queuing: Yes
Queue Depth: 32

I'm looking for at least a couple of different peoples' opinions, or if you have a link that points to replacement HD requirements that would also be very helpful.

I was wondering if anyone can give me advice on upgrading my old Powerbook G4. I don't have a lot of money to purchase a new MacBook Pro yet so I wanted to max out the current model I have now.

The things I want to upgrade is RAM and the HDD. Is it possible to go further than 2GB for RAM and 250GB for HDD?

I want to be able to run Leopard on it and even the latest edition of Adobe CS. Hopefully Adobe CS4 when it comes out.

PowerPC :: G4 1.0 Ghz 2.0G RAM Capacity With Photoshop CS

I need some insight on powerbook G4 (1.0 Ghz and 2.0 Gb RAM.) I am a freelance digital imager and have to work on a massive amount of images very fast and efficiently next week. My company is planning to supply me with that powerbook.

I will be using Photoshop CS, and I need to batch (mostly rotate and resize) and color correct at least 20 images that are around 4MB at once. Is it possible? If not, how many images can it take?

I have a Pentium 4, 2.0 Ghz Toshiba laptop with 768 MB RAM, and it is quite slow when I try to do the samething on Photoshop Cs2. So, I am quite worried.

PowerPC :: How Can G4 Battery Capacity Increased

May 22, 2008

I recently bought a 12" Powerbook G4 from ebay, and am curious to know about the battery capacity. It came with the original Apple battery, and it usually powers off before the battery is at a low percentage power. So I have installed Coconut Battery and Battery Health Monitor to check how the battery is doing.

Both say that the battery capacity is now 6393mAh, and the original capacity was 4200mAh. As such, they say the battery health is 100%. How is this possible? How can battery capacity increase? I presume this is wrong. Is there any way to correct this? The powerbook, according to the apps, is 65 months old (it is an original 867MHz model). Both battery apps also say the battery has gone through 59 charge cycles.

I ask this because I have been running iStat for years. It monitors various things, including internal temperature. I always keep an eye on this during warm days, even when I have the air-conditioning on. So it would be good to know the maximum temperature.
