i had an old version but finally upgraded to Garageband 3, the problem is that while i still had the old version I had installed and then deleted some plug ins and now when i try to start GB 3 it says please locate a folder but of course there is none so i hit cancel and then it just says some crap about needing to reinstall the plug in, which i want to do, and will not allow me past this point so I cant ever start the program.
I am setting up some new MacBook Pros for work and I want to install patches for all of the pre-installed software before distributing them.It looks like the GarageBand and iPhoto can only be patched through the App Store, which is requiring me to enter a credit card.Is there a way to patch these programs without a credit card?
I run a computer business. My customer gave me a white macbook core duo. I upgraded to 2gigs of memory from 512mb. I then purchased a full copy of snow leapard and did a clean install. I setup garageband for the first time. This is all I want to use the computer for. I don't deal with macs in my business. I only work on windows. So, I thought this computer would be nice just to use to setup a small recording studio. I did everything by the book and now when I record I am getting the disk to slow error 10005. This happened after I recorded about five songs. I checked the we and it seems like this error has been around for years with frustration and no resolution. My question is this. Should I just buy another computer or waste my time trying to fix this error. I don't mean that in a bad way. Since this error has been around for so long, I don't to spend all my time working on the computer when I could be recording. What would you do?

I have an old power mac and want to get it online if possible .Does anyone know if ots possible to install an airport card into it and get online that way ?
I bought the family pack for Leopard. I installed Leopard on my G4 laptop fine. When I tried tried to install on my G5 I got a fail to install due to a source problem (?)In any event I restarted from the Tiger hard drive and it's totally screwed up my computer. It tries to start and I get initial Apple logo for about 2 seconds then it locks up and I get a bunch of computer code.
mac g5 dual-core 1.8 ghz, 3.6gbram, newly installed ide dvdrom & burner (for pc, actually, works well on mac).sata 160gb hdd. i just got this mac g5 from a a friend, very cheap, its a old mac, but its ok. there is no osx or other operating system installed, the pmu has been resettet, and a new battery for bios has been inserted correctly. now that i cant get or have any leopard osx 10.5.8, i just need any linux os to install, in order to see if the mac is ok.later on, i will buy a second hand legal osx leopard 10.5.8 any tools, i can download, to check for hard disk is present, emery checking at start up / boot up ?, the dvdrom jumper has been set to master. the sata hdd has no jumper. i did now got hands on a linux ubuntu 10.4 lts sio, and burned it with windows 7 and my pc burner (i really don't know if this is the right way to do it, can pc burn the iso correctly ?, even if i can see all the folders and files on the cd ?, which i can!). i tried it, the mac dvdrom works, its reading the cd (pressing the option on power up/ startup).in the startup bios,
i can see linux as a thumbnail picture, which i can select, and the cd loads all necessary drivers to memory etc.then the boot shell screen appears, explaining me to press return key, or choose other option. i did choose pressing the return key. mac is reading the cd, until a few seconds later a black screen appears and nothing happens!.i also tried live install.it could be a graphics driver problem ? ( the graphics card is, i think, a geforce 5500 fx ultra 128mb agp). the mac did work perfect before i got it, with osx and apps, every thing was ok, but my friend gave me this with a clean install, no osx. from this, experience i can see, that the mac cpu, dvdrom, motherboard and, memory / graphics card is working perfect.i am in doubt about the hardddisk, shouldn't the led on the front case blink, meaning it reading from the hard-disk ?.later on i will try the hdd and dvdrom to try different jumper position, and try another linux distro, eventually i should be able get this mac up and running! otherwise i have to get another old mac g5, which i have to pay alot, properly?. hope not. apple wants 100£ for a leopard dvd. they must be kidding!. (i will buy a second hand osx). i just bought an iPhone 4s, and mac mini 2011, a week ago.
I have an older Power Mac G5 Which is running OSX 10.4.11 and I procured a retail copy of OSX 10.5.1 Single Disc Install DVD. I tried to load it and it does not load and it appears to be frozen with a grey screen and the apple icon. I let it run for over an hour and nothing seems to be happening. [code]
I have a Power Mac G4 with dual 1.25GHz Power PC G4 processor with 2Gb SDRAM.I am on OS X 10.5.8.Three questions:
1) Can I go to 10.6 or higher?
2) If I change the processor out to an Intel, can I go higher?
3) Is there any upgrades that would allow me to put a later OS X version on it, and if there is, is it worth upgrading?
I know it's old, but it works fine, and this is my first Mac (I've had it for 1 year - It was given to me), and I am breaking myself slowly from the PC

My cd/dvd drive busted WHILE I was upgrading the OS to 10.5. Now I get the folder with the question mark when I start up, or a blank screen. Other than installing a new cd/dvd drive, how can I install the OS without the drive? I only have other Intel Macs to use, no PPC.I don't believe Firewire/Target disk will help much in this case will it? I don't need any data from the currently unreadable hard drive - luckily had transferred everything ahead of time, but also erased a backup OS 10.4 boot drive too soon.Â
I had to re-install 10.3 on my G5 after the hard drive icon icon disappeared from my desktop and the finder froze. Its back to normal now after I did a clean install of 10.3, choosing the archive and install option. What should be my next step? How do I get all my stuff in the 'previous system' folder (my music, photos, etc.) to the main account? Can I somehow log in my old account with all my stuff and delete the new one I had to make? What's the easiest way to do this?
I have a used G4 from a university surplus materials auction. The cpu had been purged of all programs and operating system. I attempted to install Tiger but installation stops at designating drive location.
I followed the instructions here: [URL] to install iphone sdk on power pc using pacifist. However after the installation of the files , the mac used md5 checksum to validate the files and files were found not to pass. I then cancelled the validation. However I could not find the SDK programs that were installed in the mac. How do I delete the 5gb of stuff that was installed as I can'tfind them anywhere? I then proceed to attempt one of the comments instructions on that page:
1. Make the iPhone SDK.dmg read/write-able with Disk Utility using convert -> to read/write. 2. Mount the R/W dmg. 3. You need to delete some unneccessary file so that you can modify the installer config file, because the image is completely full. I choose the PDF in the root of the dmg. 4. Modify /Volumes/iPhone SDK/iPhone SDK.mpkg/Contents/iPhoneSDK.dist : - Line 71 ( in function agreedToSLA() ) - modify "return false;" to "return true;" - Line 81 ( in function SDKPresent() ) - modify "return false;" to "return true;"
but I was unable to attempt part 4 as I couldn't find iPhoneSDK.dist to modify.
The power mac g5 starts up with the question mark folder thing. When I put in the installion disc in and hold down c, It has the apple logo and it gets stuck there forever.
I bought a Power mac G5 from a guy my brother knows but it seems to be running slow and I cant install 3rd party apps, is there any way of resetting it with no install disk?
I'm trying to fix my mother-in-law PowerMac G4.   She doesn't remember the admin password and I've been trying to reboot from the install cd. However, after pushing the "c" button. Nothing happens and it boots normally.Â
I can't install Mac OS 9, because the page "Select a disk to install" is empty, so I can't choose a disk. The disk is OK and the Mac OS installer too. I am trying to install it because this is the last version that a Power Mac G3 supports.
Is it possible to install 4 SATA drives into a G5 tower? I didn't open it up yet cause I have to move so much material to get to it. I'm assuming you can purchased a SATA PCI card but is there room in the case for 2 additional drives?
I have a Mac pro 1,1 model and recently upgraded the video card to a Saphirre 6870 card. It works great right out of the box on both Mac and pc side of my Mac pro. From my online research, this card seems to be the best card that works with my mac pro so far, however I plan on getting an even more powerful card to use exclusively on my windows partition for games. I want to get a 6970 card, but that one may not work on the Mac side, so I plan on using both cards (the 6970 for the pc side, and the 6870 for the Mac side). There are two ways that I think may be possible but I wouldn't know how. One, is there a switch device that allows me to switch between cards without having to disconnect and reconnect them every time ? And second possible way, is there a way to house the second video card externally with its own power supply? The issue if that the are not enough power connections for both cards, so is there a way to power one card externally?
I have a g3 dual usb ibook that has a DVD/CD drive, 640 ram and a firewire port. I just bought a G4 800 mhz tower that has a gig of ram, but it does not have DVD drive (it's a cdrw only). My Ilife install disk is a DVD, is there anyway to use the DVD drive on my ibook to install software onto the G4 tower? Both devices have firewire but if possible I would like to use an ethernet cable connection between the two. I dont have the correct firewire cable(it's expensive).
A second question is i an os 10.3 on my ibook and 10.4 on my G4 tower. Is there a easy way to transfer all my files, settings, ect... from the ibook to the G4 tower? I don have the osx 10.4 install discs either (if that matters).
I lost my iweb and had order replacement DVD from apple after talk with support team. When I install its say "you cant open the app installing mac os x because power pc app o longer supported"
I just got a Power Mac g4 from my school and i dont know much about it but it didn't come with an operating system. I bought a full retail version of mac os x and pop the disk in and it will only eject the disk. I tried holding option when its installing but the computer wont recoginize the disk it will only eject it.
