How do you get a copy of Rosetta to install on 10.6.8? I have a power pc software program and need to install. Rosetta does not automatically install from the Apple servers. Is Apple discontinuing Rosetta support?

Looking for the way to install my purchased copy of final cut pro x onto another Imac that I have at home. The app is not showing up in my account to access. Shows that I purchased it and the date, but no app. It is currently installed on my Mac Book Pro. No problems there.

I've just upgraded from a Power Mac (V10.5.8) to a Mac Book Pro. I'd like to transfer all the music I have in iTunes (V10.6.1) and don't want to have to buy Leopard just for this one-off. I've used the thunderbolt to copy everything else ok.Â
I'll probably push all my content to iCloud to share on my great new iPhone as well, but 1 brideg at at a time!!Â

I tried to copy some files and as the transfer was about to be completed, I got halted and a screen message appeared in 4 languages forcing me to shut down the computer. A similar message had only appeared twice in the last couple of months, but I didn't pay any attention, since the system worked fine after restart. (I have been using G4 for more than 8 years). But now every time I try to copy any kind of files from anywhere to anywhere, just as it is about to be competed, I get the same "shut down" screen.

I use to cut, copy or paste using my mouse or keyboard. Now all the functions disappeared.

I made this a new topic because I think it is important enough to do so. Probably most of those that originally complained about this have moved on to the new MacPro but I am sure there are still enough G5 owners out there that still have concerns about this topic.
A clean install of Leopard eliminates the infamous power supply beeping
Its amazing, my G5 is like a new machine; no more of the annoying power supply beep; although, I learned to live with it after a while and didn't even notice it. However, the silence is now very noticeable.
i just got my new imac 2 days ago. I was wondering is there another to turn on the power without pressing the power from button? (cuz i remember u can power on from the keyboard b4)
View 7 Replies View RelatedI want to partition my external hard drive for my g4 power based mac running Leopard.I will have one partition for Time Machine and the other for Carbon Copy Cloner. Here are my questions:1. Which partition scheme should I choose for Time machine?2. Does Carbon Copy Cloner work the same way for non-intel macs as it does for intel? Do I need to click on the OS 9 check box to make my version of CCC bootable (I want a bootable clone)? Which partition scheme should I choose for Time machine?

I have little experience with MAC OS and Apple in general. Â
Is "S.M.A.R.T. Status | Failing" always indicative of hdd failure? The computer has been very laggard of late but has not experienced any data errors. This is primarily a traveling internet connection with limited LAN (data) use. Â
I was going to reinstall OS which would be the 2nd time recently. First time -~2 months ago- seemed to help but last week the performance took a gigantic hit. First I thought network but ruled that out. S.M.A.R.T. status got me looking in the hdd direction. Â
The only data/info I want to preserve is keychain related (passwords and networks and network settings/passwords and Safari bookmarks.) Everything else can either be reinstalled, is stored online or downloaded to other storage devices already. Â
What files-filenames/locations are involved and how do I copy them to another location.Â

I've been reading a great deal in this forum regarding the issue in the subject line of this post. But it all has to do with 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. My 10.5.8 on my system has not been updated in any way for a while. So how is it that in the last couple of weeks all of my Power PC apps still on board, are going through this crash on start up routine. If I select 'relaunch' from the dialogue window that pops up upon the intial crash, the app will run fairly normally. This can't be about a security update like with Snow Leopard.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to make a back up copy of Leopard on disc but the files don't show up when I insert the disc in my windows PC (running XP Pro). I want to burn a back up disc for my own purpose and unfortunately only have a dvd writer on my PC. Can someone advise please as I can't seem to find an option on my PC saying show hidden files etc, if that's the case?
View 6 Replies View RelatedEver since I updated one of my work machines to Snow Leopard yesterday, I am unable to copy photos to the clipboard in Preview or similar apps. The option is grayed out. I usually do this to change icons, but I've had to use third-party apps to do this since the upgrade. I'm sure it has to do with permissions, but I'm not very well versed in that aspect of OS X yet.

I just found this environmental report for the 27" iMac's on Apple's web site, which lists the amount of power they use when off/asleep/idle.
There doesn't seem to be a similar document for the Late 2006 iMac's. I'm just wondering if anybody knows the power consumption stats for the older iMac's (the 20" model in particular) - I'm interested to now how the newer models compare as I'll be buying one soon.
i will get my new 500GB seagate drive in the mail i was just wondering if i should fresh install. or just go for the standard CCC. doing a fresh install would take hours because i would need to install tiger the upgrade to leopard, then software update. then copy all the info from my old drive

View 1 Replies View Relatedeverything is going well, and it seems to be working fine (there are a few things that aren't perfect... but I'm sure they'll get ironed out in the future)Anyway, what I want to do is burn a copy of the Installation DVD, just to be sure nothing happens to my only copy (I had a bad experience with leaving my Leopard DVD on a bus once... I was so angry with myself!)Now, I used disk utility, and now have a perfect .cdr copy of Snow Leopard sitting on my desktop.I have Toast Titanium on my MBP, and am just wondering which is the best option to make a bootable copy.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWould appreciate some help in trying to restore a copy of Leopard created using Carbon Copy Cloner. I created a bootable backup of Leopard, as I am installing Snow Leopard. I checked that the bootable backup I took of Leopard works and then installed Snow Leopard. Not really happy with the Snow Leopard at the moment and so decided to go back to my original Leopard as this worked faster and without issues. The thing is, I cannot work out how to restore my backup from my external drive to my Macbook. All I can see in the backup location are the main folders, like Applications, Library, System & Users. Is it just a case of copying over the original backed up folders into the main "Macintosh HD" folder and overwrite the new ones there following the install of Snow Leopard?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to clone a new imac running leopard to an old g4 running panther.
They only have 2 different versions, one that will run on leopard and one for panther.
I've set it up and everything but it says "the bootability of the target volume cannot be determined."
Do you think trying to clone to panther using the leopard ccc version will mess it up?
I am running snow leopard on the 27" imac and for some reason when i try dragging files onto the USB that i have inserted it does not let me copy the files? It doesn't do that with the other USBs i don't understand why this one is not letting it copy. It reads it fine.
