View 12 Replies View RelatedGreetings -- I'm having trouble copying-and-pasting an image from a PDF. When I use Preview or Skim, I can select a region of a PDF and click "copy" and then paste that image into another program -- HOWEVER, the resolution of the pasted image seems to be fixed and not very good.
In Windows using Acrobat Reader, I would just zoom in and copy a region to get a higher-resolution copied image. However, no matter how I zoom in OS X I don't get higher-res copies.
I found a limited alternative, which is to use Previews 'grab' to select a region of the screen and copy as a tiff. This is essentially a 'print-screen' so that the resolution is as good as the current view. HOWEVER, this is rather limited and annoying because one needs to have the entire image able to fit on screen and because one has grab, then open the resulting file on the desktop, and THEN copy and paste from that new file.
Does anyone have tips on how to grab high res images off a pdf?
I have had my 15" macbook pro for about 6 months now. Amazing labtop...
Now i have learned almost all of the keyboard shortcuts and use them very frequently. The main ones I use are obviously + C followed by + V . However, recently my + C refuses to work! To copy something I have to manually go into the edit menu and select copy. Yet, all of my other keyboard shortcuts, including + V continue to work!
I don't understand. How do I fix this? Keep in mind, this has been going on for about a week so the computer has been turned on and off many times.
I have received a link via email, and i would like to copy and paste it to my desktop. I have a PC and have done this on that, but can't figure how to do that on my Mac.
I'm sure it's a very simple process, but I just can't get it.
My mom bought this mac G4 from a guy and he didn't include a keyboard, so i've been using one of the keyboards we use for our PCs. On a PC simply holding down ctrl + C will copy and holding ctrl + V will paste. I can't do that with a mac. Is there anyway to copy and paste on this mac? I don't know if it's important or not but this mac is considered "vintage" as the guy at the mac store called it, meaning they cant get parts for it and we have to get a Tiger disk to upgrade it any.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAs a complete newbie in the mac-world, I am faced with some challenges since everything is (fortunately) not identical to the windows world.
One that is driving me nuts is that I am unable to cut anything in almost all applications and folders. I know the shortcut is what-that-keys-name (ctrl in windows) + X, but it doesn't work, since it is always "greyed" out/inactive.
Could someone explain why that is? I should say that most, not all, of the files were copied over via an external HD from my old windows machine.
Unless I just can't find it, one of QT Pro's best features, the ability to cut/copy/paste among clips is gone. This was a very helpful way to edit and combine video clips.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy question is about the copy and paste functionality of the Mac while using Safari. For some work I do, I need to copy and paste website content to word documents (for example, in PC, I would select all, copy, and paste into Word). I can do the same thing with Safari and Pages, yet when I am on a site with drop-down menus and have selected the item from the menu and try 'select all, copy and paste' with Safari & Pages, it copies ALL drop down menu options. I only want it to copy the one I've selected. Also, this site allows me to enter free-form text in text boxes, but the select all/copy/paste doesnt pick up the text I've entered either.

About copy and paste, is there a way to program this into the right click of my trackpad/mouse?
Right now I have to highlight the word, scroll up to file, click on copy, then do the same to paste...
Just a real stupid question. Is there a generic way to copy and paste between applications without copying the formatting? If I copy from a website in safari to Excel (for example). The cells in Excel will be formatted exactly the same as on the website including different fonts, and sizes. But often I just want the text, not the formatting. Is there an easy way to do this?
View 11 Replies View RelatedAnyone here remembers when CopyPaste was a really simple but efficient app?
Simply press Cmd, C and any number from 1 to 9 to get additional clipboards.
Today's version of CopyPaste is a bloated piece of useless additions to the basic idea.
Is there a simple app that give us additional clipboards straight from the keyboard?
I am getting really pissed off with Mac OS X now... freezing frequently, VLC jumps all the time, loading is slow, and no it's not my iMac (@2.66GHZ) as it run fine with Leopard, but has anyone just suddenly lost the ability to Copy and Paste?

I am switching from blogger to Word Press and am frustrated in Word Press because I can not copy and paste. I can't do it with my command c and v or my mouse. I can highlight with the mouse but then can't paste it anywhere.
Occasionally I can copy a full paragraph and then try and paste it and only the first sentence will paste not the entire thing.
My designer is also on a mac and is not having any problems in my wordpress.
I try command + c or v and it doesnt want to copy or paste anything
also right click in itunes doesnt work?
What can i do to fix this?
I only switched to a mac about 2 months ago, but am loving it. I have a macbook pro 2.4Ghz (the latest model), running 10.5.2. I have noticed that when I copy and paste things, formatting does not seem to come with it. For example, if I copy something from Firefox, and then try and paste it into Word, it won't paste the tables, or the pictures - it simply pastes the plain text. Is it normal?

hi all, I have a mac os 10.5.6 and a windows xp home ed in my home network. The mac seems to copy and paste without a problem with my windows 2000 pc. View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to copy files from a Power Mac G5 with Mac OS X 10.3.9 to a Mac OS X Server 10.6 machine. I have tried from various ids (admin and not) on both machines. I keep getting the prompt to authenticate, but when I put in the user name / password, it either says it is incorrect or just tells me that it was unable to copy such-and-such file because I do not have permission.
On some of the directories, I have had some success in first copying the files to the desktop, then copying that to the new server, then deleting the files on the desktop. But this does not always work. Plus, the disk is over 75% full and I am trying not to stress it out any more, as this computer NEEDS to be replaced (hence the new server).
I am trying to copy data files, not system files, not privileged user files. I am a Windows admin and learning as I go w/ the Macs.
At the rate I am going, it will take months to copy the data over (160G) and start using the new server.
