OS X :: Cdr Copy Of Snow Leopard Sitting On My Desktop?
Oct 22, 2009
everything is going well, and it seems to be working fine (there are a few things that aren't perfect... but I'm sure they'll get ironed out in the future)Anyway, what I want to do is burn a copy of the Installation DVD, just to be sure nothing happens to my only copy (I had a bad experience with leaving my Leopard DVD on a bus once... I was so angry with myself!)Now, I used disk utility, and now have a perfect .cdr copy of Snow Leopard sitting on my desktop.I have Toast Titanium on my MBP, and am just wondering which is the best option to make a bootable copy.
There is a new bug that has cropped up in the Mac OS X 10.6.2 Snow Leopard version of Apple Mail, version 4.2. This bug was not present in Leopard's version of Apple Mail. If you drag a single email from Apple Mail out to your desktop, it makes a copy of the email message on your desktop. BUT -- if you drag multiple emails from Apple Mail out to your desktop, Mail does absolutely nothing. This used to be a very quick way to archive and/or export email messages out of Apple Mail, and it worked perfectly fine in Mac OS X 10.5. But you can no longer do this in Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
Ever since I updated one of my work machines to Snow Leopard yesterday, I am unable to copy photos to the clipboard in Preview or similar apps. The option is grayed out. I usually do this to change icons, but I've had to use third-party apps to do this since the upgrade. I'm sure it has to do with permissions, but I'm not very well versed in that aspect of OS X yet.
So i'm getting my first Mac tomorrow, and i'm going to switch from using iTunes on Windows to using it on os x. will I be able to copy my library off of my ntfs formatted external hdd to mac os x.
I am running snow leopard on the 27" imac and for some reason when i try dragging files onto the USB that i have inserted it does not let me copy the files? It doesn't do that with the other USBs i don't understand why this one is not letting it copy. It reads it fine.
How do you get a copy of Rosetta to install on 10.6.8? I have a power pc software program and need to install. Rosetta does not automatically install from the Apple servers. Is Apple discontinuing Rosetta support?
I upgraded my MBP internal hard drive to a Samsung 1TB and it crashed for the 2nd time (will never buy another Samsung). So this time, I purchased a WD and migrated my system to the new drive sucessfully. I just wanted to see if anyone knew if the migrate function simply copies files or if it copys sectors of the hard drive. Basically I just want to know if Mac Migrate will copy the crap from the Samsung drive that might cause my new WD to act up - or if that's possible?
Please give me a solution for this failed massage" installer could not copy the necessary support files " when i try to reinstall the mac osx i had this problem what can i do please help me
I just can't figure this out. I have several external drives I use to edit video. Most are 1TB drives, and I recently got a couple 3TB drives I was hoping to use to consolodate my scratch drives and reorganize my footage, etc. Ideally, I'd like to just be able to drag the entire contents of the smaller drive over to the bigger one, but I can't, because I keep getting error messages. Sometimes it's "Cannot complete, [file name] is in use" or I get an "error -50" code. Â
Before I began the copy, I formatted the destination drive in Mac OS Extended (journaled), and zeroed out the data to protect against bad sectors. I've scanned the drives since to determine if there are any verification issues (no), and I've tried turning off icon preview and the preview pane, none of it solves the problem. What the eff is going on here??Â
(I'm using all firewire800 drives. Currently several LaCie and Western Digital drives, but only trying to copy one at a time)
Looking for the way to install my purchased copy of final cut pro x onto another Imac that I have at home. The app is not showing up in my account to access. Shows that I purchased it and the date, but no app. It is currently installed on my Mac Book Pro. No problems there.
We have several hundred files that were converted recently to a different file format. The conversion process caused all the new files to have today's date but did not change the file names. I am looking for a way to pull the create/modify dates from the original files and apply them to the converted files so the new files will have their original dates. All of the original files had different dates, so I can't just apply a certain date to the converted files.
I am using Snow Leopard. An odd behavior has recently appeared. On some (but not all) occassions, when I send an email from an IMAP account, after the email is sent successfully (confirmed by a copy in the Sent mailbox), a second copy appears in the Draft mailbox. Â
The account is a gmail account (but @plessthan.com rather than gmail.com). Â
Of note, about a month ago (well before this started happening), I converted from POP to IMAP. To do this, I set up a new IMAP account in Mail, then rendered the POP account inactive.Â
I had a problem of my options in finder turning up as numbers and letters so I did some research and entered this code into the terminal: rm -rf ~/.MacOSX/environment.plist rm -rf ~/Library/Logs/swlog and now all files on my desktop and documents are gone and I am freaking out! I need all those docs back! What can I do to undo it?
I just did a clean install of Snow Leopard on my older macbook. I did not specifically back up my itunes purchases, however, I did do several Time Machine back ups as well as manually moving data via Finder (copy "Macintosh HD" and paste to folder on external), and finally a clone using CarbonCopyCloner. I wanted to start fresh, but I failed to think of my iTunes purchases, as well as iPhone app purchases/downloads. Is there some way I can specifically restore iTunes from the back up without having to restore from a TimeMachine backup?
Why does Finder keep shrinking the size of the icons on my desktop? I set them for 48 X 48 and a few minutes later they reset spontaneously to 16 x 16. Irritating
I am looking for calculator software that does data entry like a desktop calculator (not a handheld kind). For instance, on my Sharp EL-1801PIII, I can enter 78 x 7.75 % and then the + to add the amount I just came up with to the amount I started with and come up with a total amount. I don't have to put the first amount into memory or anything. Also, on my desktop calculator, I can enter a number and just hit the plus sign over and over if I have more than one of that number. On the handhelds and the software I've used, it requires a whole lot more keystrokes. Can anyone suggest something so I can get this calculator off my desk and free up some space? The calculator that comes with the OS operates like a handheld calculator. No bueno.
