Feb 19, 2012I've got the Mac adapter, but when I try to hook up my G4 to my new Vizio HDTV no picture comes up. The TV just says "no signal".

View 5 RepliesI have a mac OS 10.3.5, PowerPC G5. The sound does not work. I have restarted the computer, played with sound settings, made sure all speakers and headphones are unplugged. When speakers or headphones are plugged in the volume works fine, but when they are not in, I can't hear the thing.

The ACD cables are well-suited be used by the laptop line. What I'm wondering is, if you plug in the USB and mini display port cables, but NOT the magsafe power adapter, should the display still work with the laptop, even with the lid closed?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a G5 and am moving it downstairs to replace my wife's old Dell PC. But I need it to now work wirelessly.
I had this computer upstairs next to the AT&T modem and ran an ethernet cable to it. The Dell has a LINKSYS USB54GC adapter which let it work wirelessly.
Can I somehow use this on my G5, or do I need to purchase a ASUS USB-N10 EZ Network Adapter? Add 802.11b/g/n wireless capability to any Mac or PC with available USB Port. Sells for $27.99 at Other World Computing.

Having an issue charging my mac. When I plug the charger into my mac, it turns orange, so I know its charging, but no matter how long I leave it in for it never has enough power to turn on.
If I move the charger around slightly at an angel in the hole it turns green and only then will it turn on, but the moment the green light goes back to orange the laptop turns off.
When I do manage to get it turned on, it says there is 0% battery.
I've tried using different chargers so could the problem be with the connector in the laptop?
I just purchased a brand new wired keyboard from apple for my imac G5, I was told it would work with what i have running, leopard. I followed instructions, plugged in
and checked for upadates, there was none, but the volume button is not regonized, the volume button instread brings on gadgets, or make the gadgets leave, in other words, some keys work for something else, or not work at all.

I turn off Imac, using apple menu. Sometimes the power button will work to turn it on, other times it won't. Been to 2 authorized dealers, they can't find problem. Sometimes jiggling or shaking computer will allow me to start using power button. Sometimes I open up case, plug and unplug everything, and then power button will work. Never know when it will work or not. Power button has had continuity check. It checks fine. Power plug is fine, outlet is fine.

We've got two laptops in the house (my Powerbook 12 and wife's Macbook) and I've just bought an old 500Mhz AGP Power Mac G4 from eBay, partly to mess around with, partly because it was a great deal, and partly because I want to use it as a media server. What I'd like to do is have:
- iPhoto running on the server - cameras would be plugged in there, photos downloaded etc and photos streamed to the Apple TV
- iTunes running on the server - other machines in the house plus the Apple TV accessing the shared server
- printer sharing running through the server
- Time Machine partitions set up on the server for both my wife and I - set up as double our raw drive space (so 160GB and 320GB)
I've already upped the RAM to 1.25GB and swapped in two 120GB IDE drives. I'm looking to add a Sonnet PCI SATA card and a couple of 1TB Samsung drives, one to host the media and one to host the Time Machine partitions. The media drive would then be backed up weekly to an offboard brick.
So before I go ahead with this grand plan, I thought I'd solicit views on whether it's likely to work, where the bear traps are etc. I guess some of the specific questions I have include:
- is there likely to be a performance issue with the PowerMac in this role?
- can I stream photos to an Apple TV? I know it works with iTunes but thought I'd check on iPhoto
- would Time Machine work OK over a network? Any issue with hosting two TM partitions on the same drive?
The Power Mac is running Tiger, the others are running Leopard.
I tried the "search" box before making this thread. Would like to know if the power supply from a 2008 MacPro work on a 2006 MacPro. If anyone has tried this? My 2006 MacPro shut down suddenly and would not turn on. I use an APC UPS plugged on a power surge outlet. The Mac technician who examined the unit suspected it might be the power supply but Apple may not have in stock the power supply for the Ist Gen MacPro.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAs title I recently got a Apple Power Macintosh G5 1.8 running OS X 10.2.3. I want to upgrade to OS X Leopard 10.5 but have been told i cannot as my machine has the IBM 970 processor. I will be buying a genuine OS X Leopard 10.5 disc for a clean install, but need to know whether it will be able to run it.

I recently bought a new charger called the 60W MagSafe Power Adapter, for some reason for the first time when I plug it into my Leopard Macbook, it works. But when I take it out and plug it back in, it doesn't seem to charge. I would have to remove my battery and place it in again for the charger to charge my macbook. I don't think the charger is the problem because it charges on my macbook Tiger fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just recently purchased my Mac Pro and have tried multiple times to leave it on, with the monitor set to sleep (using hot corner) and the computer set not to sleep. The purpose is to be able to access my music library while on the go. For some reason, when I come back to the computer it won't wake, the power light is on so I'm assuming it froze or had a kernal panic.
I'm running Simplify Media and a Hawking USB wifi adapter to access my music on the go, no other 3rd party peripherals.
I'm traveling soon, so I'm wondering if it'll work in another country. You know, the voltage and the plug.

I received a 27 LED apple/mac monitor --not the 2011/12 version though.I want to use with my work computer--a dell laptop. I can't seem to find the right adaptor to connect the two.I need a dvi port converter that also connects to my vga on my laptop (so need the male end of hte vga since my laptop has the female end).I only found 1 adaptor but it ends with a dvi on a vga. I don't have hdmi on my laptop either--tried that adaptor as well when I couldn't see on the pic when I ordered that it was hdmi not usb). Please help. I have read so many blogs that say it can be done.

My MacBook Pro 13" (Mid 2010) doesn't go to sleep, when I close the lid or when I try to activate sleep under the Apple menu. I haven't changed nothing in the system preferences. I already tried the following: unplugged all USB devices plugged and unplugged external display closed all applications (except of Finder of course) resetted all energy saving preferences deactivated bluetooth checked share options (everything is deactivated)
Then I unplugged it from the power supply and after I closed the lid, it went to sleep. Then plugged in power supply again and sleep didn't work.

I have my 2010 Mac mini hooked up via HDMI to my Denon receiver, which is in turn hooked up to my HDTV. I can only get the mini to push 60hz. Why can't I get it to push at least 120hz? Should I try to get more hz via SwitchresX?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm really hoping for an update to the Mini at Macworld. With a new mini, I'd love the ability to connect it to my 36" HDTV and connect wirelessly with a keyboard and mouse from my couch. I would love to be able to use the Mac from the comfort of my living room for both work and pleasure. (I'm a bit of a gamer as well)
So my question is, is this a pipe dream?
Will the new Minis support an output to a HDTV? (Or for that matter, do the current minis?)
How far is the range for a standard bluetooth mouse & keyboard? Would it be possible to put the keyboard and mouse on my coffee table (about 6-8' from the TV)?
And most importantly, if this is all possible, will this make me the ultimate couch potato, and will I ever see daylight again?
