I recently installed a new printer (Brother HL-5340D), which works fine.
But ...
Now every time I log in, the system asks me to "Choose the machine you want to install", and suggests the printer. (My previous printer was a Brother, and there was no problem)
I googled and found only Windows solutions; I searched this forum, and there was a welter of posts about printers.
What does one do on a Mac to stop the system from doing this?
I've seen previous discussions regarding problems installing a Dell printer. I have a Dell 962 wireless printer. I did find the compatible Mac driver R92834 and I did install the driver. However, when I try to add the printer, I can't find the printer in the drop down list. Am I supposed to be looking for a Lexmark printer? If so, I have no idea what model is equivalent to the Dell 962 AIO. The model sticker is 4409-0d1. A search for this model returns nothing. I'm a newbie with Macs. OS is 10.4.3. Got any ideas?

Hi, my brand new iMac 21.5" (just 2 weeks old) does not have the appropriate driver for my printer. My printer is a Samsung CLX-3160fn. The iMac has lots of other Samsung drivers, including one that's close (for the 3170 series), but the close one does not work.
Went online to search for driver but was not able to find one for Mac. Does this mean my printer is just not compatible with my iMac?
I got a new HP wireless printer, and the mac suggested setting it up with the USB first, and then disconnecting once it was configured. I did all that. The mac asked to choose a wireless network for the printer, I did. Then the set up CD asked me to add a printer to the qeue from system preferences from the menu- when I clicked my printer was already added. None the less I followed the direction, and then got the message "You already have a similar printer set up, would you like to add this too?" I clicked YES, and then continue.
When I clicked on continue, the set up cd (or mac) told me that I had NOT set up a printer from the Queue (sorry about spelling), even though I had. So when I clicked continue, it told me the printer was not recognized in the wireless network, and now I'm stuck with plugging it in the usb. Please I know this sounds confusing, but why is this happening and what do I do to get the mac to recognize my printer? Apparently its not.My wireless signal is fine, I checked.

That's the message I got when adding a new printer driver. The reference was system/library/extension/cnqe202-classicnotseize.kext. Or close to that. I think I got that message also when upgrading to 10.6.1. As I recall there was also a note about updating this extension but no info on how to do it. Searching for .kext brought up a long list from last August having to do with crash reports with skype, real player, fire fox and a couple more; but nothing permanent and everything is working fine. Anyone have any thoughts about this? I'm using an iMac, 20".
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to connect to a work place (windows based) network printer, so downloaded and installed my drivers. Installer says it all installed fine, but when I go to search for it when adding the printer, it's nowhere to be found in the list of installed drivers??
I tried installing it again and rebooting but it still isn't in the list of printers. Can anyone think of why this might be, or just where it would most likely be installed to so I can manually choose the driver?
The driver came as an mpkg file so I tried "Show package contents" but didn't see anything that resembled a driver file either.
One other thing, I have a feeling the printer may be "Japan Only" but the installer contained both Japanese and English Instructions so I'm guessing that won't make any difference but thought I'd mention it just in case.

I can't install a printer. When installing a printer I get this message:
Canon CAPT printer driver utilities for Macintosh
The most recently added printer will be deleted because the maximum number of printers that can be added has been exceeded. Delete an existing printer and than add this printer again.
I've deleted all existing printers but still get this message

Okay, after a Google and Bing search, both have led me to this forum. Anyone out there know how I can attach a Dell model A920 printer to my new iMac (less than a month old)?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I've set up (or tried to anyways) a network between my MacBook Pro & iMac through a Time Capsule. My iMac is connected through a cable and the laptop is wireless. The printer is connected to the USB port on the T.C.
Here's the scoop, I can connect both computers wirelessly on the network no problem but the printer is not recognised by the iMac whatsoever. Now I know I could probably disconnect the cable on the iMac and it would probably recognise the printer but is there a way to fix this issue and leave it connected by the cable?
Both computers back up to the TC w/o issue, I don't see why the TC cannot facilitate printing via a cable since it obviously communicates to the computer w/ Time Machine. Is there a setting to fix this? I have to admit I'm kinda new to setting up networks and working w/ them.
I've tried everything have redownloaded drivers, no luck, when I go into 'print and scan' panel and select add priner, no printers appear in the list... I noticed that I have an Epson printer RX690 icon in my techtool pro rescued items folder ? this is the epson printerproxy? but can't put this away and don't know where is would go and if this would make a difference.

I'm a writer with an iMac Leopard, OS 10.5.8 at home, and a classic iMac, OS 9.6 at my office. They speak to each other via a zip disk. Although I print at home with an Epson Stylus 740, I would like to install a basic printer for the classic Imac OS 9.6 at the office, mostly for printing pages of type. It would be used exclusively for the old, classic iMac only.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI need to install the Canon MP520 printer to my MBP. The printer is connected to another a PC running windows and is shared. I installed the OSX driver provided on the Canon page, I can see the printer in the network printers but when I am asked to choose the driver I can't see the correct model listed. On the other hand, if I simply connect the same printer via USB, to my MBP it is recognized directly. When I'm asked to provide the driver while adding the printer via the network, there is also the option to browse to the driver location. So my question is, where are the can I find the right driver on the OS?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Mac mini (mid-2010), Brother MFC-9840CDW multi-function device (built-in wireless), Windows 7 (64-bit) running on Boot Camp, Windows 7 built-in firewall turned off, Westell router
Attempts:
Brother website, "Wireless Setup Wizard for Windows," dated 2007. I appropriately responded to the prompts, only to have the program end without making any noticeable changes.
Brother website, "Full Driver & Software Package." It could did not find my printer to install. It did see my neighbor's printer.
Called Brother. Factory reset of the printer, printer WAN setup WEP with password, printer setting WAN enabled. When wireless failed, we tried to connect the printer via ethernet cable to the router directly. Also pinged the IP address of the printer and input the IP address in the Brother install program instead of having Windows find it on its own.
Called Apple. The tech did not have a clue. Said she would pass me to a lead/supervisor, but no one ever picked up.
Windows could only see the printer if I connected the USB cable directly from the printer to the Mac mini. But I do not want to run it that way. That's why I got the CDW model ("W" for "wireless"). It worked wirelessly under XP on my old PC that the Mac replaced.
I work in school and i like to install Printer from Apple script or automater as there is 30 imac (Intel 2008 model) and 6 printers between them. Printer are shared on imac and there is 1 HP Colour laser 3600 on network that I have to install as default (connected throw IP 192.168.3.30) If I go to add printer (to that + sign) I can see all on Default tab, I need to make script so I do not have to install 1 by 1.
