how do you install an hp4780c wireless printer?

I got a new HP wireless printer, and the mac suggested setting it up with the USB first, and then disconnecting once it was configured. I did all that. The mac asked to choose a wireless network for the printer, I did. Then the set up CD asked me to add a printer to the qeue from system preferences from the menu- when I clicked my printer was already added. None the less I followed the direction, and then got the message "You already have a similar printer set up, would you like to add this too?" I clicked YES, and then continue.
When I clicked on continue, the set up cd (or mac) told me that I had NOT set up a printer from the Queue (sorry about spelling), even though I had. So when I clicked continue, it told me the printer was not recognized in the wireless network, and now I'm stuck with plugging it in the usb. Please I know this sounds confusing, but why is this happening and what do I do to get the mac to recognize my printer? Apparently its not.My wireless signal is fine, I checked.
I have a HP Envy printer already installed to a laptop. I am having a problem printing form my MacBook pro. How do I get my MacBook to recognize printer.

I have a Mac mini (mid-2010), Brother MFC-9840CDW multi-function device (built-in wireless), Windows 7 (64-bit) running on Boot Camp, Windows 7 built-in firewall turned off, Westell router
Attempts:
Brother website, "Wireless Setup Wizard for Windows," dated 2007. I appropriately responded to the prompts, only to have the program end without making any noticeable changes.
Brother website, "Full Driver & Software Package." It could did not find my printer to install. It did see my neighbor's printer.
Called Brother. Factory reset of the printer, printer WAN setup WEP with password, printer setting WAN enabled. When wireless failed, we tried to connect the printer via ethernet cable to the router directly. Also pinged the IP address of the printer and input the IP address in the Brother install program instead of having Windows find it on its own.
Called Apple. The tech did not have a clue. Said she would pass me to a lead/supervisor, but no one ever picked up.
Windows could only see the printer if I connected the USB cable directly from the printer to the Mac mini. But I do not want to run it that way. That's why I got the CDW model ("W" for "wireless"). It worked wirelessly under XP on my old PC that the Mac replaced.
I've been working on this for about 8 hours and I'm going nuts. I am using an Imac OS X version 10.5.8.I purchased a Canon MP560 today and can't figure out the problem. I don't even know where to start. I'm trying to connect the wireless printer using Airport. There is nothing listed when I click on 'Preferences- Print and Fax'.
I read the instructions that came with the printer several times, up to a point. I clicked 'wireless lan setup' on the printer. It's asking me for a lan access point and a wep key. I've used Google until I can't even think anymore. I read Airport is like a router, or can be used as a router. The blue light is on on the printer, and it says it's searching for a connection but can find one.
i can connect my lexmark printer s400 series by usb but not wirelessly

I purchased a new hp Officejet 4620 wireless printer about 10 days ago. I followed the directions with installing it and it worked great. I did not use it until yesterday. I was not able to print from the wireless printer. How do I correct this issue?

It worked a month ago. But now, since the update, I can't get my MacBook and printer to hook up and play nice. They're both on the same network, and both say they're connected okay, but the Mac can't find the printer wirelessly. Works fine via USB. I've rebooted the router, rebooted the Mac, rebooted the printer, and even completely uninstalled and then reinstalled the HP printer software, along with that update from the Apple support site. Its like there's a wall blocking their communication. Weird.

My Brother HL-3040CN printer only has an ethernet connector for network printing (as well as a usb port). If I wish to print wirelessly is there an adaptor or a wireless hub that I can plug it into with the cable?
I'm asking this because I've read the iPad doesn't have any means of connecting it to a printer with a cable. I won't buy an iPad now but maybe next year.
EDIT: Would an Airport Express do the job?
I've seen previous discussions regarding problems installing a Dell printer. I have a Dell 962 wireless printer. I did find the compatible Mac driver R92834 and I did install the driver. However, when I try to add the printer, I can't find the printer in the drop down list. Am I supposed to be looking for a Lexmark printer? If so, I have no idea what model is equivalent to the Dell 962 AIO. The model sticker is 4409-0d1. A search for this model returns nothing. I'm a newbie with Macs. OS is 10.4.3. Got any ideas?

Hi, my brand new iMac 21.5" (just 2 weeks old) does not have the appropriate driver for my printer. My printer is a Samsung CLX-3160fn. The iMac has lots of other Samsung drivers, including one that's close (for the 3170 series), but the close one does not work.
Went online to search for driver but was not able to find one for Mac. Does this mean my printer is just not compatible with my iMac?
Could anyone recommend me a good wireless printer that is Mac and PC compatible?
And I know iOS 4.2 isn't out yet, but I'm guessing any wireless printer that works with Mac will also work with "AirPrint"?
I'm a genealogist and digital scrapper. I need something that is going to allow me to easily scan my photos. Is there a quality all-in-one wireless printer out there that works seamlessly with the Mac and has no problems with scanning? (my previous printer would do everything but scan from my Mac)

I was having problems printing from my Canon LBP6000. Print jobs remained held in the queue. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Mac CAPT Ve r340 driver from Canon's website, no improvement. The printer works fine with my Windows laptop. I found an option to remove all printers from the Print preferences section. I can't remember how I did this, but all printers were removed. I reinstalled the above driver, but now in the 'print & scan' - 'add printer' section, I have no printer options. And no idea how to get printer options.

I have an iMac 27" (intel 3.4 GHz, Intel core i7, and 16 GB memroy) purchased a few months ago. It is running the latest version of Lion 10.7.4 I run this computer on our network along with a iMac 24" 3.5years old and a Macbook Pro 2.5year old.
This computer seems to have a beef with the Hewlett-Packard printer (HP colour laser jet CM1312nfi MFP) which I have had for about 3 years. I can not get the new computer to work with the printer properly. It allows printing but it pauses all the time when you resume the print it starts printing from the begining of the document againIt will pause any prints sent to it across the network after the first 1 or 2 pages are printedIt won't allow scanning at allWhen you launch the scanner it takes forever to connect (3 - 4 mins)If you try to scan using any of the scan options (if it loads the devise) it then states it can not connect to the device, or all the scan buttons apear but greyed out. This is odd as it will still allow printing??
Also, all the other PC's have the same version of Lion 10.7.4 and have the latest HP Driver installed (these were released on the 14 Dec 2011). Other useful infoThe scanner is hard wired to the 27" machineYou can only use the printer if one scanner is hard wired as it does not have wirless capacity.I have uninstalled and installed the software more times than i can count trying all different trouble shooting etcI can only conclued that there is somthing the 27" machine is doing to prevent the scnanner registering properlyNone of the other computers can use the scanner correctly either. As you can only scan a page at a time using the "Scan" button. If I wish to scan multiple pages on with either of the other computers I need to use the "scan to folder" button.
I have an eMac 1Ghz with 10.3.9 on it and I just bought a new Lexmark Wi-Fi Printer. I have no Extreme card, just a Netgear Wired/Wireless router that's obviously connected to my eMac via CAT5 cable. I set up the printer for wireless, hoping my eMac would use the router as a card-substitute type deal. Well it doesn't. Cannot connect as if it were not there.

I am wondering where to purchase a USB Wireless Printer Adapter that would plug into the printer, and how would I set it up. Note: It wont be connected to a wireless router, I want to connect a USB Wireless Adapter to the printer instead. Am I suppose to be looking for a bluetooth adapter for the printer, and any bluetooth USB adapter work?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been trying all day to get my new wireless printer to find my wireless network. No joy.
I have an airport extreme router connected to an AT&T 2WIRE modem. The guys that installed the AT&T stuff recently said I normally wouldn't need the airport extreme because the 2WIRE serves as both modem and router, however it does not work with an airport express, which I have in another room to boost the signal. So when the printer looks for the (SSID) network, it sees my apple network, which is what my macbook and windows vista laptops also see and connect to. After that, I'm entering the wireless network key from the 2WIRE.
As compensation for some recent damage than an Apple tech caused to my Windows 7 Ultimate disc, Apple has agreed to give me $200 credit, plus a free Magic Mouse.
I have decided that I want to use that money for a wireless printer. I have narrowed it down to two choices.
Which of these two printers do you think is best/fastest/most functional? Please provide reasons.

I have an hp photosmart 4200 that is plugged into an airport base station.
One problem though... When I scan something I have to break out my laptop and plug it into the printer directly to get the scan. The printer, as far as I can tell won't send out the scan via the airport.
If I buy the new photosmart with wifi & Bluetooth and put it in the other room will it send my scans to my iMac in the other room?
Sounds like it should but I've yet to see that work.
I am on the market for a new all in one wireless printer. My problem is that I have no clue about printers and I have heard that HP are very good printers especially for macs.

I can ping the printer from my router, so I know it is on the network. I cannot, however, ping it from my mac. Sometimes, I can reboot the printer and then I'll see it from my mac and, other times, that doesn't work.
I've tried editing the hosts file, but that didn't work. I've tried setting the IP on the printer to a static, but that didn't work
