I just partitioned and installed windows xp (with a lot of help from this forum). Can I download printer software/drivers into windows so that it can access my printer as well as my Mac hard drive? Are there any glitches a novice wouldn't foresee in doing this?
View 2 RepliesHi, my brand new iMac 21.5" (just 2 weeks old) does not have the appropriate driver for my printer. My printer is a Samsung CLX-3160fn. The iMac has lots of other Samsung drivers, including one that's close (for the 3170 series), but the close one does not work.
Went online to search for driver but was not able to find one for Mac. Does this mean my printer is just not compatible with my iMac?
So i am trying to change my apple boot camp drivers to nvidia's, but i think i must have downloaded the wrong ones, or done something wrong. I tried to install Geforce/Ion driver release 192.62, (from nvidia's site, i selected gefore 8 series) and when i ran the setup it said: 'nvidia setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your hardware' . My questions are:
� Which drivers should i download? a link would be great.
� Are there any pre-requisites i must do, such as install version 170 first?
I am using an iMac 24" with 4gb ram, 500gb 5400 rpm HDD, and 8800 GS 512mb.
The reason I am trying this, is because when i play some online games, i often get bad lag spikes, but that chat is still running. Someone recommended me to 'update my drivers'.
I have a Macbook plastic, 2.4 GHz intel core 2 Duo with 2 GB of ram.My Mac is currently running on OS X, i used to have a 40 gig partition Windows XP, a couple of friends of mine where talking about how much they liked Windows 7 and finally i had had enough blue screens to say, sure ill switch, why not?... assuming it would not take longer then lets say a day at most, i set off on my quest.
FWI, im running an older model Macbook that was bought refurbished (not sure if that has anything to do with my problem). anyway i removed my previous partition, then using Boot Camp Assistant i repartitioned a 40 gig section for Windows 7. Then ran the installer. I have a copy of Windows 7 ultimate 86x. The Windows boot screen turned up, i had to reformat the partition so that i could install, no problems there. after all said and done the installation worked perfectly, up to a point... First problem that appeared was the lack of sound. i fixed that by downloading Realtek's High Def sound drivers.
Then it was the rest of the drivers for the macbook. heres where i run into my problem, i have the Mac OSX install discs 1 and 2. inserting the first disc the option of the auto run of the setup popped up i clicked run. and instead of the same old install drivers option all i have is the option to install the software that lets macbook airs share cd/dvd drives... needless to say i got frustrated and to put it lightly pissed off...
unsure of wtf was going on i looked it up online and really couldnt find anyone with the same problem, i found a web page saying that i should have the windows auto update itself and that should fix the problem. it did not. i dont know what the hell is going on. and im about this close to reinstalling windows xp and telling windows 7 to go **** itself...
I installed leopard after upgrading the hard drive, didnt install any printer drivers, ive just found a 3gig printers folder in Library/Printers, whats happening?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to connect to a work place (windows based) network printer, so downloaded and installed my drivers. Installer says it all installed fine, but when I go to search for it when adding the printer, it's nowhere to be found in the list of installed drivers??
I tried installing it again and rebooting but it still isn't in the list of printers. Can anyone think of why this might be, or just where it would most likely be installed to so I can manually choose the driver?
The driver came as an mpkg file so I tried "Show package contents" but didn't see anything that resembled a driver file either.
One other thing, I have a feeling the printer may be "Japan Only" but the installer contained both Japanese and English Instructions so I'm guessing that won't make any difference but thought I'd mention it just in case.

I've installed a legit copy of Windows XP, SP2. Nothing works, not my webcam, not my internet, not even the full resolution. The first time around that I did this, I had the DVD that came with my iMac, I installed the Windows drivers stuff off of it, and everything worked perfectly.
Can anyone point me in the direction of either a replacement for that DVD (.iso image or something?) or simply the required drivers that will let my iMac 8,1 connect to the web?
I waited for 3 years to get a new MBP, and 12 hours ago, my dreams were finally realized. I pulled it out of the box, transferred some data, and hopped on a plane to my best friends baby blessing. I'm gone for a week, and I'll need windows access, so I threw my WinXP SP3 disc in my carryon. I of course forgot to get the OS X discs with the windows drivers from out of the MBP box. So, I'm states away from my discs, with no local options. Does anyone know where I can get the drivers for the new Unibody MBP (the one with the SD card slot and the 512VRAM, to clarify)? I'll be anxiously refreshing this page.
View 15 Replies View RelatedFor whatever reason, when I installed Snow Leopard it did not automatically install the updates for the printer drivers already installed in my computer.
I then tried to manually install the printer drivers using the SL disk and still no luck. The printers that I use are both wireless and work when they are connected with USB. Am I missing something? I'm reading all over about how people have made the upgrade with no problems at all so I'm there's got to be something I'm not doing.
i put the mac osx leopard cd to install the drivers, but it says i need a windows update because it was missing something.
so i downloaded a windows update on my ipod on my mac side and tried installing it .
then it told me in order to install the update i need the service pack 2 at least. so i down loaded service pack 2 and tried installing that. then it told me that i need 4 more megabytes to install service pack. and i deleted 50mega bytes and have 7.5 gigs of free space. and it just keeps telling me i need 4 more megabytes of free space.
i dont know what to do. why is it so trouble some to install these drivers? does anyone know what i am supposed to do?
I just set up my printer on my home network, and it works with my two wireless PC's, and now I am trying to add it to my 3 macbooks, but I am having some trouble. I connected to it through system pref > print/fax > selected my printer. It connected and works sweet, but, the driver must be wrong. I was not sure what the driver was so I just chose GenericPostScript but when I print, a blank sheet comes out, no text. The PC's print just fine, but not my MacBook. It is a DELL printer connected to my dell PC, so I am not sure what driver to use. All I know is it is a Dell AIO 926.

If I read the help stuff right I need to use the OSX install disk to install the drivers. The problem is, I don't have the install disk. Is there any other way to get the drivers? Or am I just missing something easier?

When I put in the disk and it says "The package requires a newer version of Windows Installer. Would you like to update?" I say yes and it says "The requires resoruce update is missing." and if I click no it says "The operation is aborted." or something.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have just installed Windows 7 via bootcamp and everything went smoothly, the only problem is that i have lost my DVD of snow leopard and want to install the 3.2 drivers on windows 7, however it is to my understanding that i need to install 3.0 from the DVD first. Is there any way around this without ordering another copy of snow leopard? ?25 might not seem a lot but on a student budget i would rather not shell out.

It was, surprisingly a blank CD. I put in my second one. It did show BOOTCAMP this time, but it only had the options 'Remote Install Mac OS X' and 'DVD or CD sharing'. I couldn't install them. What is wrong with this. I am certain that the package wasn't fake, since I have the Macbook Pro here, but why doesn't the install CDs work?

I cannot install drivers into Windows 7 somehow, it says that it is not Windows XP/Vista... : I tried the configuring it, it installed, but then the drivers still wouldn't work. (nVidia drivers?)
Is is worth it? I have 4 gigs of RAM and use bootcamp mainly for gaming (Fallout 3).
Will i be able to install the drivers on the OS X dvd?
I have mac drivers cd for installation on win XP drive. But any time I put in the cd to install the drivers it gives an error message and does not install.

2. Windows installed fine. In Windows, went to install the bootcamp drivers from DVD I made and get this message: "bootcamp requires that your computer is running windows 7" And then I can't install the drivers.
Is there a limitation to running Windows 7 only?
I get the error "Another instance of this setup is already running. Please wait for the other instance to finish and then try again." when installing the Sigmatel drivers from the Boot Camp Driver installer.
I've reformatted, reinstalled Windows XP, and tried to install the Boot Camp drivers again but I still get the error.
I tried opening "SigmaTelXPSetup.exe" directly from the "Drivers" folder of the Leopard DVD, but I got the error again

Today is the day I get my new 09 Quad - very exciting! I have a copy of Vista Business 64bit, which I want to run because of the extra ram I'll have in that beast of a thing. Up until now I've just been using the other comps in my sig, and from what I've heard it's hard to get 64bit windows working in Boot Camp. But are there 64 bit drivers on the Leopard install disc to make this a bit more pain free?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've successfully installed windows professional 32bit onto my mac computer with bootcamp. When I insert my OS10.5 Leopard cd's into the computer windows will not detect the CD's. These are original CD's after trying to get it to work for a few mins I came up with an idea. I downloaded the 2.1 mac drivers from apple @ [URL]. I then burned the drivers onto a cd and then rebooted into windows. After copying the drivers from the cd to my harddrive, I tried to install the drivers that I had downloaded but nothing happens. I can see in the taskmanager that the BCUpdateXP.exe runs for a few seconds then does nothing. The mac is an iMac 8.1, intel core 2 duo, 2.66ghz, 2gb ram. The leopard cd's work when running the mac under Mac OSx 10.5.8 which would mean the cd's should be fine.

I am looking at installing windows 7 x64 on either the lower spec 13inch macbook pro, or the lower spec 21.5inch imac. Installing windows 7 itself is so easy, but how do i get the drivers installed and which work? I know I should use the bootcamp drivers for vista off of the OS X disk but is it as simple as inserting the disk, navigating to the folder and running whatever? And does everything work for both the systems I mentioned? Including sound etc., and if not, how do I get it to work.

-Partitioned it with bootcamp assistant to Mac(220gb) and Windows(100gb)
-loaded Windows vista on bootcamp partition
-Installed VMWare fusion to use windows vista from bootcamp partition
-All my docs pics are in mac partition
-With vmware i can access files from windows and mac but when i need to boot directly into windows i should be able to use the docs and pics from the mac partition directly.. (eg i am using picasa to arrange my pics i should be able to get the pics folder mapped in windows somehow.
So I tried to install XP on my MacBook Pro via Boot Camp and it didn't go so well. To make a long story short, my OSX partition and Windows partition were both deleted so I re-installed OSX. When I went to re-intall OSX I could not choose a HDD to install it on, so thinking it was the right idea I created a new partition and continued the installation. After installation everything seemed fine so I went to restore from time machine, which I did. The only problem is I now have 100 GB of data on my computer, but it apparently doesn't exist as I can't see, or access any of it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI finally got my HDD partitioned and BootCamp Assistant to work correctly, I insert my Windows 7 disc, and it starts installation, but then stops and says it needs CD/DVD drive drivers, and to please insert floppy/usb/cd/etc. with the drivers. However, I can't eject the CD to insert my Snow Leopard disc and can't find the drivers poking through the SL CD to put on an external or flash drive.

However, i have the Win7 drivers for my MBA from a previous attempt to install Boot Camp. They are in my MBA dowload/drivers folder and on a USB thumb drive. But the VMWare install won't look at either. It only wants to look in 3 places.
A: floppy drive (haven't had one in many years)
CD drive D: VMWare tools (which is no help at all)
Boot X: drive
