Adding the Open DNS directions solved the problems I had with slow internet in my house.
The problem is, at my college, this Open DNS directions wrecks the internet, and it becomes painfully slow there. So I have to remove the DNS directions. When I retur home I add them again and so on.
How can I make this directions only to appear when connected to my home network?
I have reset the Ipod and got some of the playlist to go to the Ipod but now if I try to add a new playlist or make any changes ITunes begins to sync and then just sits there with the little multicolored disc spinning.

Am the fresh recipient of a snazzy Magic Trackpad and I love the pinch-to-zoom in Finder. But I use the Option-click View --> Keep Arranged By option to auto-arrange my icons when pinch-zooming. Is there a quick way to apply this to ALL Finder windows/folders without doing it manually for all? I can't seem to apply the Keep Arranged By option to all my Finder folders, even if I check as the default?

When a friend of mine istalled office for mac, a version of messenger was installed as well, and i liked that whenever someone wrote to me, the icon on the dock jumped and it made the typical messenger sound.
On sunday, I saw that you could now downlead messenger 8.0 beta, i did and it removed the previous version that I had, however I couldnt change the image on the 8.0 so I decided to re-downlad messenger 7.
The problem is, that with this version, it no longer jumps or sounds, so i don't know when someone is talking to me, and since the messenger that I liked came with the office installer and I don't have it I don't know what to do!
Is there any way to apply the ''sound'' in messenger 7.0?
Why can't I change my image in 8.0? I can choose it on my folder but it just won't work!
I was messing around with my desktop drive icons and noticed you can't give your 'Macintosh HD' partition a colored label, when I right clicked my bootcamp partition, the colored label options were available, so I gave it a color. But when I remove it, whenever the partition get's unmounted (at shutdown or manually trough disk utility), OS X throws a kernel panic. So now I have a permanent label attached to my bootcamp drive.
View 2 Replies View Relatedhow can I apply an icon file (.icns) to a certain file oder folder?
don't tell me the "copy & paste" thing because, the iconfile doesn't have itself as icon
(btw: I know how to use the console)
The services I use that work on files and folders in Finder do not appear in the services menu when a folder is highlighted in column view. Instead I see a 'No Services Apply' message. The strange thing is that they all work flawlessly on files and folders when run from the services menu in any other view (icon, list or cover flow) or the right click menu in any view. This is frustrating because the shortcuts I assigned do not work in column view.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've searched and found others with similar issues, but none of those threads provided a solution. This is happening on just a few TV episodes. I have hundreds that work fine, but on just a few iTunes will not save the artwork. I can add it just like with any other file, either drag and drop, or using the "add" button. It appears in the window, but after hitting "ok" it doesn't apply. Hit Get Info again and there is nothing there. All of these are encoded using Handbrake with the same settings used for everything else

I have 3 mail accounts (POP), and very often I receive mail that has been sent to the wrong accountI have therefore implemented one rule that has multiple conditions (based on sender, or subject, etc) and basically instructs mail to move said message(s) to account #3 however after I set up the rule, selected my all my messages in acct #1 and ran the rule I noticed that some messages were sent 20 times (I kid you not) to acct #3. How can I isolate a rule so that it only applies to a specific account? Else said, how can I be sure that the rule does not trigger a giant feedback loop?Â

I just tried to make the switch from Entourage to Mail, but there is a major bug in Mail's handling of rules that has sent me running back to Entourage.
Mail will NOT apply any rules to messages that appear in your inbox, if you've already read those messages on other devices, such as your iPhone.
If you?ve already read an email on another device (such as your iPhone), then Mail will NOT apply ANY incoming rules to that message when it shows up in your inbox. Every other email program on the planet that I know of ? including Entourage and Outlook ? ALWAYS applies rules to messages that appear in your inbox, whether or not you?ve read those messages on other devices.
I really wish that Apple would fix this bug.
Does anybody have any ideas on how to workaround this in the meantime?
I have a G5 with 10.4.11. There is 3 partitioned drives that I want gone and set back to the original 1 drive. I just cant seem to figure out what I am doing wrong. I don't need anything on the Mac as I have already backed up all info I wanted saved. When I go into the disk utilities/partitions/volume scheme it shows 3 drives. When I switch the volume scheme to 1 partition their are no options to "apply" for me to revert to 1 partition only.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using Windows Vista less and less on my MacBook and the partition takes up about 1/2 of the hard disk space. I tried using Disk Utility but I guess I don't know what I am doing. I choose the Partition button. In the Volume Scheme, I choose the partition that has Windows on it. In the Volume Information text box, I tried to enter a smaller size but the Apply button is grayed out. So, how do I reduce the size of the partition that Windows is installed on? I guess I am not quite brave enough to completely delete Windows from the machine. I "might" need it occasionally. Windows is being used by BootCamp.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know that I can right-click (er, two-finger click) when I'm in a folder and set things like "Arrange By" / "Sort By" / "Icon Size" and then click "Use as Defaults," but it seems to only apply these to the new folders I create after I apply these settings (if they're applied at all, I'm having trouble figuring out what "Use as Defaults" even accomplishes.)
But I've already moved a ton of folders over from my old laptop, and they've got some seriously wonky view settings. There would be 3-4 folders right on top of one another, and then the folder I'm looking for is in no-mans-land 600 pixels to the right. It's a mess
I want every folder on my computer ever and forever to snap to grid, arrange by kind, and "float" to the top left (no gaps between files - fill'er'up!). How can I do this without going into every single folder and changing the settings individually?
(On another related note, is it possible to force folder contents to fit the window size? I dont want to have to scroll horizontally to see a folder's contents when I resize it.)

I am trying to dispense with my Bose speakers - they clutter things up with too many wires. I can get acceptable sound quality from my Mac speakers if I adjust the equaliser settings but adjusting the setting track by track will take forever. Is there a way to apply an equaliser setting (say, Bass Booster) to several tracks at once? If not I guess I will have to invest in wireless speakers.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAll of my movies on my hard drive have crazy file names. I just rename the info from within itunes. I am wondering if there is a way to apply the info in itunes to change the original file names. So that I don't have to change them all manually on my hard drive if I want them in some sort of order. Something like 'apply itunes info to original filename'. I am pretty sure it isn't possible but thought it might be worth a try.
