I have an iPatch patch I need to apply with root privilege to an application. iPatch patches are drag and drop, which doesn't apply the privilege, so I think I need to apply it through the terminal.

hi all, I have a mac os 10.5.6 and a windows xp home ed in my home network. The mac seems to copy and paste without a problem with my windows 2000 pc. When I copy and paste a file from the windows XP to the MAC it gives me this message, " The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privilege for some of the items."

My little girl got on my computer and did something. I cant drag or move files anywhere. When attempting to move a file, I get asked for my password but after entering it it tells me I don't have sufficient privileges. I checked my settings and I can't find anything thats been changed.
View 24 Replies View RelatedSo I am the admin on my computer and for some reason I cannot access ANY other account on my computer, I can't even get into the guest account that isn't even password protected. When I try to open a folder it says I don't have privileges to do so. Also when I go to the users folder the other users don't show up. What can I do so that I can have access to these accounts? Please help this is so frustrating that I can't control MY computer.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a password protected disk image that mounts, but when I mount it there's a lock that shows up in the icon and I can't access the contents- "The folder "Disk Image" could not be opened because you do not have sufficient access privileges." When I Get Info it has my account, (unknown) and "everyone" all set with custom access. Ignoring ownership does nothing, and I can't change the permissions. I can't get at it via Terminal, and sudo chmod doesn't work either. How can I get at the contents of this disk image?

The settings of lion server appear correct even the indication suggest that DNS is working. I already checked that my webserver is working. All other functions of my server work fine.

Apple released a Mac OS X security update Tuesday that fixes a critical PDF vulnerability.The update, labeled Security Update 2010-005, addresses a "heap buffer overflow" in the way CoreGraphics handles PDF files. The vulnerability could allow "unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution" through a malicious PDF file.
It is unclear whether this fix is related to the PDF exploit on iOS 4 that allowed hackers to jailbreak the iPhone. Apple released an update on August 11 that addressed the iOS PDF exploit.Security Update 2010-005 also patches a "stack buffer overflow" that would allow arbitrary code execution through a malicious embedded font. Both the PDF and the font vulnerabilities are fixed through "improved bounds checking."
Also included in the update are several routine fixes to network security flaws.The update affects Mac OS X Server 10.5, Mac OS X 10.5.8 , Mac OS X Server 10.6 , and Mac OS X 10.6.4.
It seems my MBA has developed some issues with the LCD, there is a noticeable dark patch on the bottom of the screen and it is really bugging me, normally little things like these I can get over with but seeing how much I paid for this laptop it is very disconcerting. Oh and also, when the screen is off and viewed under a sun/bright light, you can see waves / "ripples" of the LCD, is that supposed to be normal? Just wondering if Applecare will "care" about this issue.

When I contacted Paul at MadBoa, he said he'd send me a patch but I guess he got too busy, but he said it *will* compile under 10.6.3 also.

By the way, I'm on a MBP, C2D, 2.8, 8GB 17" if that matters... and have 10.6.3, probably moving to 10.6.4 when it releases.

The problem is, at my college, this Open DNS directions wrecks the internet, and it becomes painfully slow there. So I have to remove the DNS directions. When I retur home I add them again and so on.
How can I make this directions only to appear when connected to my home network?
I have reset the Ipod and got some of the playlist to go to the Ipod but now if I try to add a new playlist or make any changes ITunes begins to sync and then just sits there with the little multicolored disc spinning.

Am the fresh recipient of a snazzy Magic Trackpad and I love the pinch-to-zoom in Finder. But I use the Option-click View --> Keep Arranged By option to auto-arrange my icons when pinch-zooming. Is there a quick way to apply this to ALL Finder windows/folders without doing it manually for all? I can't seem to apply the Keep Arranged By option to all my Finder folders, even if I check as the default?

When a friend of mine istalled office for mac, a version of messenger was installed as well, and i liked that whenever someone wrote to me, the icon on the dock jumped and it made the typical messenger sound.
On sunday, I saw that you could now downlead messenger 8.0 beta, i did and it removed the previous version that I had, however I couldnt change the image on the 8.0 so I decided to re-downlad messenger 7.
The problem is, that with this version, it no longer jumps or sounds, so i don't know when someone is talking to me, and since the messenger that I liked came with the office installer and I don't have it I don't know what to do!
Is there any way to apply the ''sound'' in messenger 7.0?
Why can't I change my image in 8.0? I can choose it on my folder but it just won't work!
I was messing around with my desktop drive icons and noticed you can't give your 'Macintosh HD' partition a colored label, when I right clicked my bootcamp partition, the colored label options were available, so I gave it a color. But when I remove it, whenever the partition get's unmounted (at shutdown or manually trough disk utility), OS X throws a kernel panic. So now I have a permanent label attached to my bootcamp drive.
